This paper introduces a novel ZVS interleaved totem-pole PFC with the reduced circulating current and the reverse recovery current of the diodes. With the help of a simple auxiliary inductor, both ZVS turn-on of the main switches and soft turn-off of the body diodes can be achieved. In the proposed totem-pole PFC topology since the switching losses and the reverse recovery losses can be significantly reduced, the typical Si MOSFETs can be employed. In addition the circulating current is reduced by adjusting the switching frequency. The proposed PFC topology can be a low cost solution to achieve high efficiency in high power PFC applications. The validity and the feasibility of the proposed topology is verified by the experimental results with a 3.3kW interleaved totem-pole PFC converter.
Many single-stage PFC(power-facto.-correction) ACHC converters suffer from the high link voltage at high input voltage and light load condition. In this paper, to suppress the link voltage, a novel high power factor high efficiency PFC AC/DC converter is proposed using the single controller which generates two gate signals so that one of them is used far gate signal of the flyback DC/DC converter switch and the other is applied to the Boost PFC stage. A 130w prototype for LCD monitor adapter with universal input $(90-265V_{rms})$ and 19.5V 6.7A output is implemented to verify the operational principles and performances. The experimental results show that the maximum link voltage stress is about 450V at 270Vac input voltage. Moreover, efficiency and power factor are over $84\%$ and 0.95, respectively, under the full load condition.

Recently, there have been Increasing demands for high power factor and low harmonic distortion in the current drawn from utility. The harmonic limits imposed by international standards. It need the PFC techniques in order to reduce line current harmonics and comply with the standards. The average current control method that is the most proper PFC control method in a switching power supply of middle and high power has been used mostly to PFC control method. However, the switching device of PFC circuit has frequently destructed at power return after instantaneous power interrupt. Therefore, this paper have verified the cause of this problems and proposed the solution through simulation and experiment
The characteristics of wireless power transfer is achieved at high frequencies in short range magnetic resonant wireless power transfer system. Use PFC pre-regulator for power supply of high frequency inverter. Supplied power to high power factor and high efficiency. Accordingly, the input voltage is 110V-220V. The designed of 175W Class with the output voltage of 385V. As a experiment result, maximum power factor and maximum efficiency measured 99% and 97% respectively. Therefore, in this paper, the design of a inductor which is the most important element in PFC converter for short range magnetic resonance wireless power transfer system was studied. Used an CS330125 core through the designed of 175W class. Examination results power loss was 0.2%.
Two-stage Power-Factor-Correction (PFC) converters are the most common circuits for drawing sinusoidal and in phase current waveforms from an ac source with a good regulated output voltage. The first stage is a boost PFC converter with average-current-mode control for achieving the near-unity power factor and the second stage is a forward converter with voltage-mode control to regulate the output voltage. Stability analysis and design methods of two-stage PFC converters have previously been discussed using linear models. Recently, new nonlinear phenomena have been detected in pre-regulator boost PFC circuits and a new nonlinear model has been proposed for pre-regulated PFC converters. Therefore, investigation of two-stage PFC converters from the nonlinear viewpoint becomes important because the second stage DC/DC converter adds more complexity to the circuit. So, this paper introduces a study of the stability of two-stage PFC converters. A novel nonlinear model of two-stage PFC converters is proposed. Then, a stability analysis is made based upon this nonlinear model. The high correspondence between the simulated and experimental results confirms our analysis.
This paper proposes PFC boost converter with soft switching for harmonics decrement and analyzes characteristics of PFC boost converter. In this technique power factor correction(PFC) is usually obtained by operating the PFC stage in the discontinuous current mode(DCM) Switching devices are operated for reducing current stress and electronical noise. As a result eliminate 3rd harmonic component and high power factor(PF) of the input line are verified by characteristics analysis and experimental results.
Buck power factor correction (PFC) converters, compared with conventional boost PFC converters, exhibit high efficiency performance in the entire range of universal line voltage. This feature has gotten more attention for eliminating the zero crossing dead angle of buck PFC rectifiers. Furthermore, bridgeless structures for the reduction of conduction losses have been proposed. The aim of this paper is to introduce a single-phase buck rectifier that simultaneously has unity power factor (PF) and bridgeless structure while operating in the continuous conduction mode (CCM). For this purpose, two auxiliary flyback converters without any active switches are applied to a bridgeless buck rectifier to eliminate the zero crossing dead angle and achieve unity power factor, low total harmonic distortion (THD) and high efficiency. The operation and design considerations of the proposed rectifier are verified on a 150W, 48V prototype using a conventional peak-current-mode control. The measurement results show that the proposed rectifier has nearly unity power factor, THD less than 7% and high efficiency.
The implementation and performance evaluation of an interleaved boundary conduction mode (BCM) boost power factor correction (PFC) converter is presented in this paper by employing three wide band-gap switching devices: a super junction silicon (Si) MOSFET, a silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET and a gallium nitride (GaN) high electron mobility transistor (HEMT). The practical considerations for adopting wide band-gap switching devices to BCM boost PFC converters are also addressed. These considerations include the gate drive circuit design and the PCB layout technique for the reliable and efficient operation of a GaN HEMT. In this paper it will be shown that the GaN HEMT exhibits the superior switching characteristics and pronounces its merits at high-frequency operations. The efficiency improvement with the GaN HEMT and its application potentials for high power density/low profile BCM boost PFC converters are demonstrated.
Based on the standards that limit the harmonic pollution of electronic systems, the use of PFC converters is mandatory. In this paper, a new resonant bridgeless PFC converter is introduced. By eliminating the input bridge diodes, the efficiency is improved. Moreover, soft switching conditions for all of the semiconductor elements are achieved without adding any extra switches. As a result, high efficiency is attained. The proposed converter is analyzed and the theoretical and simulation results of the proposed converter are presented. In order to verify the validity of the analysis, a 40 w prototype converter is implemented and experimental results are presented. The experimental results show that high efficiency is attained while achieving a high power factor.
A conventional Single-Stage Power-Factor-Correction (PFC) AC/DC converter has a link capacitor voltage problem under high line input and low load conditions. In this paper, this problem is analyzed by using the voltage conversion ratio of the DC/DC conversion cell. By applying this analysis, a new Single-Stage PFC AC/DC converter with a boost PFC cell integrated with a Voltage-Doubler Rectified Asymmetrical Half-Bridge (VDRAHB) is proposed. The proposed converter features good power factor correction, low current harmonic distortions, tight output regulations and low voltage of the link capacitor. An 85W prototype was implemented to show that it meets harmonic requirements and standards satisfactorily with near unity power factor and high efficiency over universal input.
