1. The external treatment of sprain and strain using the herb used adhesive(貼敷), using soaking in medicinal smoke to focuses and rinsing methods(熏洗), rubbing(擦擦) and hot compression(熱熨). 2. In the external treatment of sprain and strain using the herb, Adhesive(貼敷) is used most. Because Adhesive(貼敷) brings fast reactions, has less side effects, and can control the processing time. 3. The effects of herbs used in this external treatment are almost the same as oral herb-medicines such as, promoting blood flow to remove blood stasis(活血化瘀), relieving rheumatic conditions(祛風濕), and removing obstruction in meridians and collaterals(通經絡).

Objective : In order to study effects of ${\lceil}Persicae\;Semen{\rfloor}$ on the hyperlipidemia rats induced by Triton WR, we have made hyperlipidemia rats by administering Triton WR-1339 for 3 days, then have administered. The results were summerized as follows : 1. The Total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol, Free fatty acid, phospholipid and CRF(Cardiak Risk Factor) by hypercholesteremic rats injected by Triton WR-1339 of the herb-Acupuncture group were decreased as compared with those of the control group, especialy hypercholesteremic rats injected by Triton WR- 1339 of the herb-Acupuncture+Acupuncture group were some more decreased as compared with those of the control group. 2. The HDL-cholesterol by hypercholesteremic rats injected by Trion WR -1339 of the herb-Acupuncture group were increased as compeared those of control group, especialy hypercholesteremic rats injected by Triton WR-1339 of the herb-Acupuncture+Acupuncture group were some more increased as compared with those of the control group. According to the above results, Persicae Semen showed inhibition on decrease of serum total cholesterol, triglyceride and phosholipid contents as well as inhibition on increase of HDL-cholesterol contents in hyperlipidemia.

Persistent facial telangiectasia, erythema and flushing are the major cosmetic problems in patients with rosacea. However various therapeutic modalities for rosacea are not effective. Five patients who had a history of rosacea which poorly controlled by oral and topical medications, were given Herb-medication and Acupuncture treatment. The size of erythema and the number of papules had been gradually decreased and finally all the symptoms were gone except telangiectasia.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report to treat the patient who had numbness, paresthesia, pain after hip fracture in the category of Bi. Methods : The patient was treated by acupunture, moxibustion and herb medication. Conclusion : Pain, numbness, paresthesia belongs to Bi in the oriental medicine and the case that complains pain especially is Tong Bi. We experienced that improvement of the circulation the blood and gi, adding energy by acupuncture, moxibustion and herb medication have the effect treating Bi.

Objective : Blepharoptosis is drooping of eyelid which causes impairment of visual field by covering partially or completely, and it is classified into congenital ptosis and acquired one. In western medicine, idiopathic blepharoptosis is usually treated by tarsectomy. Contrary to that concept, we consider eyelid is assigned to Yookryoon(肉輪) among Ohryoon(五輪) which matches to spleen. In oriental medicine, it can be treated by promoting spleen and kidney. Here I report two cases of idiopathic blepharoptosis improved by conservative acupuncture therapy and herb medicine. Methods : The changes in clinical symptoms of general body weakness, anorexia, dizziness, dry eye, etc, in degree of eyelid drooping and in individual expression were described as they were treated with acupuncture therapy, herb medicine, Bojoong-ikgi-tang(補中益氣湯) and some physical therapy including Negative, I.C.T, S.S.P and Carbon. Results : Symptoms(ex) general body weakness, anorexia, dizziness, dry eye, etc) at admission improved and disappeared gradually with acupuncture therapy and herb medicine. The patients could discharge with favorable recovery. Conclusions : In oriental medicine, blepharoptosis is mainly treated by promoting Qihyul(氣血) and enhancing flow of that. If the patient has deficiency of Suhnchun-poomboo(先天稟褓賦) and Mungmoon-hwa(命門火), he is treated by promoting Shin-yang(腎陽). If he is weak in Bee-qi(脾氣), he needs to be treated by strengthening Bee-yang(脾陽) where patient with lack of Ganhyul(肝血) is supposed to be treated by promoting Hyul(血). These following two cases were managed by acupuncture, herb medicine and physical therapy on idiopathic blepharoptosis.

Articular cartilage is an important target for studying the arthritic diseases. To verify the therapeutic effects of bee venom herb-acupuncture in vivo, 3${\mu}$l of diluted solution of bee venom for herb-acupuncture were injected into articular cavity once a day during 3 months after making full-thickness defects in rat articular cartilage. Histological examination and immunohistochemistry indicated that the chondrocyte-like tissue was formed during the repair process of cartilage injury, and the expression of a cartilage-specific protein, collagen type II, were significantly activated. It means that the expression of the gene encoding type I collagen was down-regulated, whereas those of collagen type II were up-regulated. Histological examination by hematoxylin-eosin staining indicated that the cells regained their original round morphology. In addition, a homogeneous distribution of articular cartilage extracellular matrices was detected around the cells. These results suggested that bee venom herb-acupuncture was very effective on the recovery of articular chondrocyte phenotype.

Objectives : This study is a clinical report about 19-year-old male patient with Duodenal ulcer. Methods : The patient was treated by acupuncture, herb medication. The improvement of the symtoms was evaluated by Visual Analog Scale(VAS), Endoscopy. Results : Brash was gradually reduced and dyspepsia got improved. Conclusions : Oriental medical treatment was effective to improve duodenal ulcer. There should be more observation about patients with duodenal ulcer.

This study was done in order to present clinical trial method for safety of herb-acupuncture. The results were summerized as follow: In case of western medicine, clinical trial divides into four phase 1. Phase I: Investigate safety and drug movement for health people. 2. The first phase II: Investigate safety, effectiveness for the limited patient. The late phase II: Investigate propriety of an applicable disease, the way to use and dose. 3. Phase III: Through the comparative, public trial, investigate a final, applicable disease and side effect. 4. Phase IV: After NDA, investigate safety and effectiveness for the wide patients. In case of herb-acupuncture, we have to investigate the following for safety and effectiveness 1. Drug dose: Decide with 1/2 or 1/3 of oral dosage or a basis of animal's of maximum dosage or a ratio of man and animal. 2. Toxicity: Examine blood, urine, liver function, EKG, after herb-acupuncture during acertain period of time. 3. Regional response: Estimate response of swelling, redness, pruritus. etc 4. Treatment effectiveness: After exactly diagnosis, estimate effectiveness with a objective guide post.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to report treated case about patient with diplopia caused by stroke. Methods : The improvement of diplopia was observed as he was treated with acupuncture therapy and herb medicine named Bo-gan-san(保肝散). Results : Diplopia improved and disappeared gradually with acupuncture therapy and herb medicine named Bo-gan-san(保肝散). The patient was discharged with favorable recovery. Conclusion : In traditional Korean medicine, diplopia is caused by disorder of JungKi(精氣), intrusion of PoongSa(風邪) into Neoi(腦), and hollowness of Gan(肝), Shin(腎). Treating it is by expelling PoongSa(風邪) or strengthening Gan(肝), Shin(腎). The patient was diagnosed as cerebral infarction according to Brain MRI. Diplopia was improved after acupunctural therapy and intaking Bo-gan-san(保肝散), herbal prescription selected from DongYiBoGam(東醫寶鑑).

Object : Liver cirrhosis is a disease of the liver in which normal cells are replaced by scar tissue. The purpose of this case is to report the improvement of liver cirrhosis after herb-med, acupuncture & moxibustion complex therapy. Methods : We provided herb-med, acupuncture & moxibustion complex therapy to a patient who suffered from ascites and fatigue. We examined LFT & Child-Pugh class to evaluate the effectiveness of oriental treatment. Result and Conclusion : We observed that herb-mod. acupuncture & moxibustion complex therapy decreased symptoms of liver cirrhosis and improved general condition of a patient who suffered from ascites and fatigue. In the LFT result, Child-Pugh class was improved.
