This study was conducted to investigate nutritional status and anthropometry of preschool children in orphanage. The height, weight and head circumference of preschool in orphanage were lower than that of Korean growth standards, but not chest circumference. The average daily intakes of Ca by all subjects, the average daily intakes of Fe, riboflavin and ascorbic acidin some subjects were lower than those of the Korean RDA. The prevalence rates of iron deficiency assessed by hemoglobin, hematocrit were found to be 12.9% and 18.6%, respectively. When assessed with serum iron, the prevalence rate of iron deficiency was 4.3%. Serum total protein and serum albumin level were turned out to be normal. Considering this results of the survey, financial help from social work organization for meal service and more aggressive efforts should be made to improve nutritional status of the subjects in orphanage.
Recently a slat type ceiling is widely used in various spaces, such as music performance spaces and concourse of airport and a general reception area of a building. However, it is hard to find a proper design guideline or material useful in designing such spaces, due to the lack of relevant researches on the effect of a slat ceiling on room acoustics. The present work investigated the effect of a slat type ceiling using a physical scale model method. A 1/20 scale model of a small shoe-box type music performance hall was built and a slat ceiling with different configurations was installed. 6 cases of different ceiling configurations were considered with the combination of 2 slat ceiling height cases and 3 distance cases between slats. The effect of a slat ceiling on the acoustics of a room was evaluated by measuring reverberance($T_{30}$), intelligibility and clarity($D_{50}$ and $C_{80}$), and loudness(G and $G_{80}$).

The purpose of this study was to develop the functionally improved winter work clothing for the Korean railroad workers. Based on the questionnaires, the sample clothing for the Korean railroad workers was produced. The design, materials, and patterns were modified to increase mobility and comfort of workers. Water-repellent treatment was added to the material in order to decrease the dirt and stains while working. Also the reflective strips were added to chest and back of the upper garment in order to increase visibility and safety of the workers. In terms of the design and pattern underarm of the sleeve and side panel of the bodice were put in together and action pleats at the back were inserted in order to decrease the pullback of the armpit and scapular area and increase mobility of the arm movement. Also the patterns of the elbows areas were modified to increase mobility of joint. The prototype was evaluated an objective assessment and subjective assessment to compare to the existing working uniform. Assessment group was consisted of 5 subject groups and 11 expert groups and evaluated external appearance and adaptability to the movements. According to the results, the prototype was evaluated better than the existing working uniform in appearance and adaptability except height of collar. A field test was conducted to compare the prototype and the existing working uniform. The field tests were performed by 6 workers in the Korean railroad. According to the results, the prototype was improved in terms of adaptability and comfort.
The main structure of Gunsan steam power station was demolished by the toppling method using high explosives. Height of a main building is 58m and a total floor area is $292,000m^2$. It is Rahmen(rigid-frame) structure consisted of almost columns and beams and slabs exist only in one part of the building for the electricity generators equipments. To improve the efficiency of blasting work, it is separated into 4 sectors. Blasting floors were 1, 2, 3, & 4 stories from first sector to third sector, while 1, 2, 5, & 7 of fourth sector were blasted because it had not slabs. About 102.675 kg of the MegaMITE were used with 225 electric detonator and 638 non-electric detonators to check detonator connection and confidence of detonation. The blasting noise and vibration were monitored to evaluate the environment effect and the damage of the nearby structures.

In general, atomic force microscope (AFM) used for metrological purpose has measuring range less than a few hundred micrometers. We design and fabricate an AFM with long measuring range of $200mm{\times}200mm$ in X and Y axes. The whole stage system is composed of surface plate, global stage, microstage. By combining global stage and microstage, the fine and long movement can be provided. We measure the position of the stage and angular motions of the stage by laser interferometer. A piezoresistive type cantilever is used for compact and long term stability and a flexure structure with PZT and capacitive sensor is used for Z axis feedback control. Since the system is composed of various actuators and sensors, a real time control program is required for the implementation of AFM. Therefore, in this work, we designed a multi-axis control program using a FPGA module, which has various functions such as interferometer signal converting, PID control and data acquisition with triggering. The control program achieves a loop rate more than 500 kHz and will be applied for the measurement of grating pitch and step height.

In this work, we investigated the effect of the oxidation temperature on the unipolar and bipolar resistance switching behaviors of the oxidized TiO-x films. TiOx films on Pt electrodes were fabricated by the oxidation of Ti films at $550^{\circ}C$ for 1 to 3 hours. The unipolar and bipolar resistance switching properties were investigated with the oxidation temperature and time. Also, the crystal structure and the physical properties such as chemical bonding states of TiOx layers were characterized in addition to the resistance switching characteristics. The resistance switching behaviors of TiOx films oxidized at above $450^{\circ}C$ and below $650^{\circ}C$ was shown. So, we investigated that the resistance switching behaviors of TiOx films oxidized at $550^{\circ}C$ with the oxidation time from 1 to 3 hour. The memory windows of unipolar switching in the oxidized TiOx films were reduced with increasing the oxidation time, but those of the bipolar switching were slightly enlarged. The enlargement of rutile TiO2 peak with increasing the oxidation time and temperature was studied by X-ray diffraction. An increase of non-lattice oxygen and Ti3+ in the TiOx films with the oxidation times was investigated by X-ray photoemission spectroscopy. It was expected that the uipolar and bipolar resistive switching of the oxidized TiOx film was strongly related with the migration of non-lattice oxygen anions and schottky barrier height, respectively.

A numerical work was performed to study the flow behaviors of the open channel type flow with its geometric boundary conditions being similar to that of the Multi-Stage-Flash evaporator with and without a baffle. For the analysis, two-dimensional steady turbulent flow was assumed and the widely known k-.epsilon. turbulence model was usded. SIMPLE algorithm and the power difference scheme were used for the numerical approach. Numerical results generally agree with the previous experimental results though there are some uncertainties at far downstream and near the free surface due to the three dimensionality of the flow and surface waves. Without a baffle, the flow has basically the shape of the submerged plane wall jet with its upper boundary at downstream being sharply curved toward the free surface. For the flow with a baffle, recirculation flow patterns are observed at the upper inlet portion and at the backside of the baffle. For the case without a baffle, it was also confirmed that the ratio between the liquid level and the gate opening height is the most important parameter to determine the flow behavior.
This research was administered in order to know the effects of heels on the foot by comparing the foot environmental characteristics when common shoes and elevated shoes are worn. First, 157 male adults in their 20s through 40s living in Busan were the inquiry subjects to reveal the shoes-wearing reality of adult males. Second, 7 male adults in their early 20s became the subjects for the experiments of wearing common shoes and elevated shoes. 1. Inquiry Results of Shoes-Wearing Reality Common-shoes wearers were in the order: 20s (43.9%) > 30s (24.8%) > 40s (8.3%). Elevated-shoes wearers were mostly 20s (12.1%), followed by 30s (8.3%) and 40s (2.5%). Among the wearing effects of elevated shoes were 'looking taller' (66.7%), 'no height complex & more confidence' (30.6%), and 'higher work efficiency' (2.8%). In sum, 97.3% of the male subjects believed in great positive effects by wearing elevated shoes. 2. Shoes-Wearing Experiment Results In foot skin temperature, significant differences between the two groups were admitted in outer foot a (p<0.05) and other areas (p<0.001), except in the instep. Elevated-shoes group had bigger skin temperature, while the order of temperature was the instep, the big toe, inner foot a/b/c and outer foot a/b/c. Significant difference was accepted in total sweat rate (p<0.05) and local sweat rate (p<0.01). Elevated-shoes group appeared higher in both rates. Significant difference (p<0.001) between the two groups was recognized in fatigue degrees after wearing, whereas significance (p<0.05) in elevated-shoes group was approved in fatigue before and after exercise. So elevated-shoes group experienced more fatigue, especially after exercise.

The coordinate transformation both WGS84 and Bessel ellipsoids is essential to use of GPS in South Korea. Especially, for transformation considered the needed accuracy and the regional characteristics, the study about geoid modeling and the characteristics on the transformed area should be done. The aim of this study define the characteristics of the transformed coordinates according to transformation methods and the area measured by GPS. For this, large network that include South Korea, four regional network consist of large network, and local net-work include Incheon city designed. Geoid model based on Bessel suitable to South Korea selected from study about the effects of the assumed geoid height at the geodetic origin, and then coefficients computed according as transformed area and methods. Also, the transformed characteristics of the large coefficients, the regional coefficients, and the local coefficients according to methods compared, analyzed synthetically.

The efficient management for minimum losses and demage precautions of fragile region against coastal disasters such as seismic waves and seawater overflows is proceeding continually. This study is to analyze inundation trace and extract expected damage areas with historic records of tsunami using Geographic Information System. Creating a digital elevation model of the Mangsang and the Nobong region in the east coast, we marked inundation record of tsunami and forecasted the flood area with a seismic wave height between 3 m and 5 m. The inundation trace layers and the expected damage areas on the cadastral map layer were superimposed individually. Consequently, the range and lot numbers of inundation expected area were calculated and inundation areas of 5 m tsunami were increased by 2.8 times than 3 m tsunami in case of subject regions. Analyzed results are expected to use evacuation work in case of seismic waves and to predict the compensation of the damaged area. And this study is expected to use suitable countermeasure for prevention from natural disasters.
