Objectives: In this study 54,848 people were selected as participants to investigate the relationship between oral health factors and eating habits education experiences of adolescents using raw data from the 17th (2021) online survey on adolescent health behavior. Methods: Data were collected using the IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0 statistical program was used. A multi-sample chi-square test was performed on the dietary education experience according to the general characteristics of the subjects. Logistic regression analysis was performed on factors affecting the eating habits education experience. Results: Eating breakfast and consuming fruits was more frequent among eating habits (p<0.001). Regarding factors influencing dietary habits education, in the case of eating habits education experience, sealant was 1.23 times higher (p<0.001), and tingling & throbbing were 0.93 times lower (p<0.01). Conclusions: Educating adolescents on correct eating habits is related to oral health, hence a school based oral health education program related to eating habits is necessary for adolescents.
Purpose: This study was undertaken in order to examine relations of eating disorders, health locus of control of college women, and to determine factors affecting eating disorders of college women. Method: The subjects were 282 students at a university in Busan. The instrument used for this study was a questionnaire on general characteristics, eating disorders (24 items), health locus of control (11 items) and self-esteem (10 items). Data were analyzed using means, percentages, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression with a SPSS WIN 11.0 program. Result: Depending on BMI, there was no obese subject, 62.0% of the subjects were underweight, and 37.9% were normal. Over 40% of the subjects perceived them to be overweight while 62.1% of the women were underweight as defined by BMI. The total mean score of anorexia was higher than bulimia nervosa. There were significant differences in eating disorders according to BMI, perceived view of appearance, body satisfaction, experienced weight-control, and predictors of weight control method. Eating disorders showed a significant negative correlation with health locus of control and self-esteem. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of eating disorders was BMI. Experienced weight control, health locus of control and self-esteem and body appearance had significant effects on eating disorders. These predictive variables of eating disorders explained 27% of variance. Conclusion: The result of this study showed that eating behaviors among college women developed into eating disorders or were seriously disturbed. Therefore, to prevent eating disorders, health education should be provided to college women in relation to eating behaviors for health management.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of eating with family or alone on the self-rated mental or physical health and then work out strategies of making people recognize the importance of eating with family and its practice. Study subjects were 610 primary school 5th- and 6th-grade students in Daejeon Area. A questionnaire survey was carried out. 57.9% of students had working mothers. The frequency of meal in a day was $2.90{\pm}0.42$ and this frequency was lower in students who had working mothers (p < 0.05). The frequency of skipping breakfast (times/week) was $1.02{\pm}1.77$. The frequencies of eating alone (times/week) were $1.04{\pm}1.65$ for breakfast and $0.97{\pm}1.52$ for dinner. Also, the frequency of eating alone for dinner was higher in students who had working mothers (p < 0.001). When the frequency of eating alone for breakfast or dinner was higher, the frequencies of skipping breakfast and dinner were also higher (for all, p <0.01). When the frequency of eating alone for breakfast or dinner was higher, the self-rated positive mental health were lower (p < 0.05 and p < 0.01 respectively) and the self-rated negative mental health (for dinner, p < 0.05) and the self-rated negative physical health was higher (p < 0.05 and p < 0.01 respectively), thus presenting negative health. The frequencies of eating with family (times/week) were $3.37{\pm}2.50$ for breakfast and $4.14{\pm}2.19$ for dinner. Also, the frequency of eating with family for dinner was lower in students who had working mothers (p < 0.01). When the frequency of eating with family for breakfast was higher, the frequency of skipping breakfast was lower (p < 0.01). When the frequency of eating with family for dinner was higher, the frequency of skipping dinner was lower (p <0.01). In addition, when the frequency of eating with family for breakfast or dinner was higher, the self-rated positive mental health were higher (for both, p <0.01) and the self-rated negative mental health was lower (for breakfast, p < 0.01) and self-rated negative physical health were lower (for both, p <0.01), thus presenting positive health. Therefore, in order to maintain positive health, it is necessary to recognize the importance of eating with family at home and educate people to carry out a systematic and continuous dietary life, thus increasing eating with family and reducing eating alone and skipping a meal.
The purpose of this study was to find out the influence of Entrance Examinees' Eating Behavior on their health condition. The examinees for Chungbuk National university in 1992 were asked to fill out the questionnaire(The total number was 1054 ; 537 males, 517 females). The statistics used for data analysis were frequency, percentage, Crosstabs, Chi-square, t-test, one-way Anova, and Multiple Regression using SPSS/PC+ Program. The results are as follows. 1. Health condition due to an eating attitude: 1) As to health condition due to the food intake freguency, those who intaked fish or meat 3-5 days a week had the best heal th condition, but those who hardly intaked fish and meat or intaked them almost everyday had rather poor health condition. Those who intaked fried foods 1-2 days a week had the best health condition. The higher the freguency intaking such food or instant food was, the worse health condition was. 2) In view of health condition according to an eating attitude, it led to very good health condition to have breakfast & supper, to eat regularly, to select the nutritious foods, and to have a balanced diet. Overeating before sleeping and no meal or overeating before exam made their health very bad. Alcohol drinking & cigarrette smoking as favorite foods appeared significantly high in the boys. The more frequently they drinked alcohol and smoked cigarrette the worse their health condition was. Those who enjoyed milk, soya milk, and korean tea as favorite beverages had the better health condition than those who enjoyed coffee and soft drinks. 2. Influence of Eating Behavior on Health Condition. 1) The food intake freguency and the eating attitude influenced each other. The higher the score of food intake frequency was, the better the eating attitude appeared. 2) As a result of this study for eating behavior influencing on their health condition, the eating attitude influenced health condition, and the higher the eating attitude score was, the better heal th condition could be.
The consciousness and eating habits of the housekeeper directly influence the stress level and health quality of the household occupants. In Korea, most housewives are in charge of dietary life. Accordingly, their attitudinal clusters toward dietary (eating) life were researched in relation to their stress and health. The research results showed that irregular eating habits cause stress. Therefore, it is necessary for housewives to have a regular eating habit. The results were as follows. The house wives' attitudes toward dietary life were categorized into 5 clusters: regular and speedy overeating, regular and frequent eating, regular and light eating, irregular and light eating, irregular and speedy overeating. The cluster of regular and frequent snacks was 24.3%. The cluster of irregular and speedy overeating caused the most stress. Especially the house wives' group belonging to the cluster of irregular and speedy overeating were under social and emotional stress, while the cluster of regular and light eating and the cluster of irregular and light eating were under concentration stress. The cluster of regular and frequent snacks and the cluster of irregular and light eating had negative effect on their health, while the cluster of regular and speedy overeating had negative effect on their family's health by their social stress.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare eating habits and parenting about eating habits of the elementary schoolers in two regions, Seoul and Gangwon-do, in order to understand regional differences. Methods: The respondents of this study included 365 pairs of children and their mothers (150 pairs from Seoul and 213 pairs from Gangwon-do). Data was collected using a structured questionnaire from July to August, 2013. Results: Perceived body type, weight control, and eating habits were significantly different in two regions. Children's eating habits were significantly different by their perception of health status and body type. Their mother's parenting attitude toward eating habits was significantly different by children's weight control and mother's and children's perception of body type. Parenting attitude toward eating habits was not different between two regions by their mothers. eating habits and parenting attitude toward eating habits were significantly correlated. Conclusions: Health provider should consider regional difference when designing health promotion program for elementary students. Especially, when practicing eating habits related program, parents should be participated from the planning stage and provided with the information of the proper body image and weight control.
In this study, a survey was carried out on 208 students at middle schools in Gyeonggi-do through May 1 to July 20, 2011, with the purpose of figuring out how eating attitudes of middle school students affect their psychological achievement and self control. The results were as follows. First, the effect of eating attitudes on the psychological achievement of middle school students demonstrated that regular dietary life, dietary life and health had a statistically significant positive effect on psychological achievement. Second, the effect of eating attitudes on self control in middle school students showed that balanced dietary life, dietary life and health had a statistically significant positive effect on self control. The above findings confirmed that regular and healthy dietary life connected directly with health, which was a factor that makes them think positively about psychological achievement. Besides, for eating self control, as balanced dietary life in eating attitudes was important. And as this had a positive effect on their self control, could improve their eating attitudes. Consequently, the regular eating attitudes and balanced dietary life in eating attitudes of middle school students can make their psychological achievement and eating self control for the nutrition and health care.
Purpose: This study is descriptive research that confirms breakfast eating habit of woman's college students and related factors. Methods: This investigation took place in August 2010 and was participated 142 students of one woman's college which located in a large city. The contents of the questionnaire consists of general trait, diet trait, life patterns and health states. Results: According to the results of uni-variate analysis, the significant variables of breakfast eating habit are: Recognition of importance of breakfast, spare time before attendance, her parents's breakfast eating habit, times of snack, times of eating out and index of food life style. But, according to the results of multi-variate analysis, the number of the significant variables became narrow and they were: Recognition of importance of breakfast, spare time before attendance and her father's breakfast eating habit. Conclusion: Finally, it can be said that the breakfast eating habit of woman's college student is related to recognition of importance of breakfast, spare time before attendance and her father's breakfast habit strongly. It is necessary to emphasis on the recognition of the importance of breakfast and concerns of parents for breakfast eating habit to improve the regularity of breakfast eating habit for woman's college students' health.
This study examined the subjective health recognition, motivation, selection property, consumption realties, and generalities of elderly people eating out. The ratio of women eating out in those over 60 years of ages was high and people in that age group ate out most actively. The score of convenience-oriented, gourmet-oriented, and dignity-oriented of the selection property for eating out increased with increasing frequency and expenditure for eating out. With increasing age, a negative (-) relationship with a decrease in the safety-oriented score of the selection property for eating out was predicted. As the number of days eating out increased, a positive (+) relationship with an increase in the safety-oriented score of the selection property for eating out was observed. As the scores of physical and social health perception increased, a positive (+) relationship with an increase in the gourmet oriented score was observed. Based on the results, various research on the relationship between the health recognition and eating out behavior of those over 60 years of age are required.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors related to eating attitudes of female high school students. Methods: Data were collected from 299 high school girls in 2016. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 21.0. Results: There was a positive correlation between eating attitudes and anger thoughts, anger expression, perfectionism, depression, and problem behaviors. There was a negative correlation between eating attitudes and body esteem. The predictors of eating attitudes were perfectionism, body esteem, depression, and problem behaviors, which explained 23.7% of the participants' eating attitudes. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that it is necessary to recognize and measure the predictors of eating attitudes in advance and develop school-based health interventions to prevent eating disorders and improve eating attitudes among female high school students.
