  • A balanced single side-band (SSB) mixer employing a sub-harmonic configuration is designed for up and down conversions in K-band. The designed mixer uses anti-parallel diode (APD) pairs to effectively eliminate even harmonics of the local oscillator (LO) spurious signal. To reduce the odd harmonics of LO at the RF port, we employ a balanced configuration for LO. The fabricated chip shows 12$\pm$2dB of conversion loss and image-rejection ratio of about 20dB for down conversion at RF frequencies of 24-27.5GHz. As an up-conversion mode, the designed chip shows 12dB of conversion loss and image-rejection ratio of 20 ~ 25 dB at RF frequencies of 25 to 27GHz. The odd harmonics of the LO are measured below -37dBc.

  • In this paper, we present a novel oscillator (OSC) design. Bandpass filters, which can suppress harmonics, are incorporated into a co-design with an OSC to improve the OSC phase noise and harmonic rejection. The proposed OSC/bandpass filter co-design achieves a phase noise of -130.1 dBc/Hz/600 kHz and harmonic rejection of 37.94 dB and 40.85 dB for the second and third harmonics, respectively, as compared to results achieved by the OSC before co-design of -101.6 dBc/Hz/600 kHz and 21.28 dB and 19.68 dB. Good agreement between the measured and simulated results is achieved.

  • This paper presents the harmonics rejection technique and the simulation of a active power filter using power operational amplifier. The proposed active power filter consists of CT(current transformer), harmonics detector and harmonics amplifier. The harmonics detector is a high pass filter using a GIC(Generalized Impedance Converter). The harmonics amplifier consists of a power operational amplifier and passive filters. The simulation has been implemented by OR-CAD program. It is examined whether the proposed active power filter can be realized or not through simple experiments.

  • For grid-connected LCL-filtered inverters, the inverter-side current can be used as the control object with one current sensor for both LCL resonance damping and over-current protection, while the grid-voltage feedforward or harmonic resonant compensator is used for suppressing low-order grid current harmonics. However, it was found that the grid current harmonics were high and often beyond the standard limitations with this control. The limitations of the inverter-side current control in suppressing low-order grid current harmonics are analyzed through inverter output impedance modeling. No matter which compensator is used, the maximum magnitudes of the inverter output impedance at lower frequencies are closely related to the LCL parameters and are decreased by increasing the control delay. Then, to improve the grid current quality without complicating the control or design, this study proposes designing the filter capacitance considering the current harmonic constraint and using a PWM mode with a short control delay. Test results have confirmed the limitation and verified the performance of the improved approaches.

  • In this paper, a compact-narrow open stub band-pass filter with parasitic-signal of low frequency range and second harmonics rejected using the parallel coupled line and FLCLM(Frquency Locked Controlled Length Method) is proposed. The characteristic of the parallel coupled line can be rejection for parasitic-signal of low frequency range and second harmonics. In last filter of experimental results show that insertion loss is 1.2 dB and return loss is 14.8 dB, and the fractional bandwidth is 10 % at the center frequency of 5.8 GHz. In additional, the rejection for parasitic-signal of low frequency range and second harmonics are 28.9 dB and 28.8 dB, respectively.

  • In this paper, an improved rotor speed estimation in DFIG wind turbine systems based on a cascaded SOGI is proposed. Due to excellent harmonics and DC offset rejection capability of the cascaded SOGI, the accurate rotor speed estimation can be achieved despite the harmonics and sensing offset in DFIG currents. The simulation results have verified the validity of proposed method.

  • In this paper, the low pass filter with harmonics suppression and rejection using parallel coupled-line and radial type open stub is presented. And the resultant characteristic of the proposed low pass filter is that the harmonics are suppressed and rejected in wide bandwidth due to the parallel coupled-line structure. The open stub of a low pass filter is constructed in radial type which can be used to adjust the size of filter. The size of the proposed low pass filter is $6.98{\times}7.60mm2$ and the cut off frequency is 2.45 GHz. And the filter is economical in unit cost and can be constructed easily and has the merit of mass product because the filter is composed of distributed element. Also, the widely rejected harmonics is 128 % in the bandwidth and the insertion and return losses of the low pass filter are 1.07 dB and 19.5 dB, respectively.

  • This paper presents a simple notch filter, which is so suitable for three-phase unbalanced and distorted power line. In the d-q synchronous transformation, three-phase unbalanced and distorted voltages generate lots of ripple voltages on d-q axes. The ripples make disturbances on controllers such as PLL of phase tracking. Unbalanced state makes ripple of double the frequency of power line. Odd harmonics 5th and 7th on the line make even 4th and 6th ripples on d-q axes due to the rotating reference frame, respectively. Cascaded two comb filters, delay lines 1/4T and 1/8T, are adopted for the ripple rejection. The filter rejects harmonics 2nd, 4th, 6th, 10th and so on. They are very effective to remove the ripples of both unbalance and distortion. The filter, implemented by two FIFOs on an experimental system, is adopted on a PLL controller of power line phase tracking. Through the simulation and experimental results, performance of the proposed comb filter has been validated.

  • In this paper, planar harmonic rejection low-pass filter is proposed to effectively suppress spurious response in stop-band. For suppress the unwanted signal such as spurious and harmonics, we presented a new design method controlled the higher order modes. The proposed low-pass filter was shown to suppress the spurious response by more than $20{\sim}40dB$ compared with conventional microstrip low-pass filters. The filter is evaluated by experiment and simulation with good agreement and shown to have attractive properties such as wide stop band range and low insertion loss.

  • A new type low-pass filter design method based on a coupled line and transmission line theory is proposed to suppress harmonics by attenuation poles in the stop band The design formula are derived using the equivalent circuit of a coupled transmission line. The new low-pass filter structure is shown to have attractive properties such as compact size, wide stop band range and low insertion loss. The seventh-order low-pass filter designed by present method Ins a cutoff frequency of 0.9 GHz with a 0.01 dB ripple level. The coupled line type low-pass filter with stripline configuration was fabricated by using a high-temperature superconducting (HTS ; $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$) thin film on MgO(100) substrate. Since the HTS coupled line type low-pass filter was proposed with five attenuation poles in stop band such as 1.8, 2.5, 4, 5.5, 62 GHz. The fabricated low-pass filter has improved the attenuation characteristics up to seven times of the cutoff frequency Bemuse of good rejection of the spurious signals and harmonics, our low-pass filter is applicable to mobile base station systems such as cellular, personal communication systems and international mobile telecommunication(IMT)-2000 systems.
