A Submode Selection Method for Advanced Intra Coding in H.263 (H.263 Advanced Intra Coding 모드 선택 방법)

  • The Advanced Intra Coding(AIC) mode included in the H.263+ which is for video ceding at low bit rates, selects one prediction direction of DCT coefficients among three directions for every intra macroblock. Based ()n the selected direction, It uses a different DCT scanning order, quantization scheme, and VLC table. The use of the AIC mode brings higher compression ratio and improved PSNR than the H.263 baseline. This paper proposes a simplified submode selection method for a direction of the DCT coefficient prediction for advanced ultra coding in H.263. Compared to the conventional method the proposed simplified method can achieve a similar coding Performance at computational complexity reduced to 1/7 and with much less memory requirement. The proposed method will be useful in implementing a simplified H.263 system.

  • In the point of the Eco-concrete(Environmentally Friendly Concrete), it is very important to reduce the pH of high porous concrete by the pH to be able to grow plants, because the pH of concrete is l1~13. But the method of measuring the pH of high porous concrete is not well-defined, yet. Therefore, first, this paper report the method of measuring the pH of high porous concrete. Secondly this paper reports the pH reduction of high porous concrete to grow plants.

Design of Two-Degree-of-Freedom PI Controllers using the Mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ Methods ($H_2 / H_{\infty}$ 혼합 기법을 이용한 2자유도 PI 제어기의 설계)

  • A numerous designs of PI controllers have been suggested to solve out trade-off between tracing and regulating problems. We constructed the PI controller system with two-degree-of-freedom that is more analytic and a better approach to a practical one. In the conventional H$_{2}$ design of optimal PI controllers, the cost function includes only the plant output terms due to the divergent problems. Since the platn input temr is not considered in PI controller design, occasionally, the plant input thends to be either very large or saturated. To solve the prior mentioned problems, we employed a mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ method that combines the H$_{2}$ design method to decide optimal parameters of PI controller and the $H_2/H_{\infty}$ design method to minimize the maximum amplitude of plant input. The calculation time of the H$_{infty}$ norm was considerably reduced by the simple scalar function obtained by the wiener-hopf factorization of non-scalar functions.

  • Top-Down construction method is a method of connecting a beam to a column and using a strut to support earth retaining walls. This method has the advantage of reducing the process of underground construction by reducing the work of installation. Recently, there are a lot of cases of damage and defect occurring in H-beam backfill applied to Top-Down construction method and the concrete slab supporting H-beam backfill. For this, appropriate methods were suggested through finite element analysis of the position and installation form of the H-beam backfill.

  • In this paper, we study the convergence of relaxed two-stage multisplitting method using H-compatible splittings or SOR multisplitting as inner splittings and an outer splitting for solving a linear system whose coefficient matrix is an H-matrix. We also provide numerical experiments for the convergence of the relaxed two-stage multisplitting method.

  • In this paper, an efficient and accurate formulation for the transient analysis of constrained multibody systems is presented. The formulation employs Kane's method along with the null space method. Kane's method reduces the dimension of equations of motion by using partial velocity matrix: it can improve the efficiency of the formulation. Furthermore, the formulation partitions the coefficient matrix of linear and nonlinear equations into several sub-matrices using kinematic uncoupling. This can solve the equations more efficiently. The proposed formulation can be used to perform dynamic analysis of systems which can be partitioned into several sub-systems such as train systems. One numerical example is given to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the formulation, and another numerical example is given to show its application to the train systems.

  • The objective of this paper is to present a method for designing robust positioning control systems of a flexible arm using $H_2/H_{\infty}$ and $\mu$ theory. We begin with a description of the flexible arm based on the model identification method and discuss the derivation of the model uncertainty. The validity of the obtained model is confirmed experimentally Next, a robust controller is designed based on the $H_2/H_{\infty}$ and $\mu$ theory by which we can improve robustness of the entire system. On this occasion, we also propose a general plant formation suitable to $H_2/H_{\infty}$ control. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed design method is verified through experimentation.

Comparison Study of H-infinity Controller Design Algorithms for Spacecraft Attitude Control (인공위성 자세제어를 위한 H-infinity 제어기 설계 알고리즘 비교 연구)

  • There are three kinds of algorithms(2-ARE, mu-synthesis, LMI) for controller design using closed-loop shaping method. This paper provides the summary of background theory of three algorithms and $H_{\infty}$ controller design results for spacecraft attitude control using the three controller design tools of Matlab$^{TM}$ Toolbox for comparison. As a result, it reveals that LMI design method is more reliable as well as easier than others for spacecraft attitude control design. Comparison results are as follow: 2-ARE method and LMI method provide almost same results in robust stability, robust performance and control authority level. But 2-ARE method is more sensitive than LMI method with respect to proper design of weighting functions: 2-ARE method is more difficult than LMI method in weighting function design. The design result of mu-synthesis method shows worse performance and requires bigger control authority than others.

  • In this paper, discrete-time H$_{\infty}$ controller design in .delta.- domaion using Normalized Coprime Factor plant description is proposed and the loop-shaping method developed by Mcfalane[2], which is known to be very simple and systematic method, is adopted here in H$_{\infty}$ controller design. In particular, we show that .delta.- H$_{\infty}$ controller proposed here is a unified form for the continuous and discrete-time cases.es.

  • We proposed the detection method of pH variations by integrating a photocurrent characteristic curve, instead of finding an inflection point by differentiating it in LAPS system. By a simulation of the performance of the proposed method, we verified that it had 80 and 1000 times higher sensitivity and resolution than a conventional method. Then, with the implemented system based on the simulation results, we measured a pH variation which was given rise to a potential change on the LAPS surface exposed to 2-0.03125[mg/ml] enzyme solutions. As results, we observed that the proposed method has a higher sensitivity and resolution of 3.76-0.08[pH/min] pH variations than 3.79-0.27[pH/min] for conventional method with same samples.
