아동의 학습능력 저해요인으로서의 학대경험에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Relationship of Child Abuse to Academic Achievement)

  • Three groups of maltreated Korean children (Grades 1 through 3) drawn from Child Protective Services (CPS) agencies were compared to a control group of nonmaltreated children on academic achievement as measured by standardized tests of reading, spelling, arithmetic, and writing. Findings were that maltreated children performed significantly below their nonmaltreated children on the standardized tests, in particular in arithmetic. In first grade, maltreated children did not perform below nonmaltreated children on writing and reading, but maltreated children gradually declined in academic performance in these skills. The older, grade 3, children showed more serious academic problems than the younger children (Grades 1 and 2) on four academic skills. This suggests that early experience of child abuse have a strong affect on children's academic achievement.

Recognition of Virtual Written Characters Based on Convolutional Neural Network

  • This paper proposes a technique for recognizing online handwritten cursive data obtained by tracing a motion trajectory while a user is in the 3D space based on a convolution neural network (CNN) algorithm. There is a difficulty in recognizing the virtual character input by the user in the 3D space because it includes both the character stroke and the movement stroke. In this paper, we divide syllable into consonant and vowel units by using labeling technique in addition to the result of localizing letter stroke and movement stroke in the previous study. The coordinate information of the separated consonants and vowels are converted into image data, and Korean handwriting recognition was performed using a convolutional neural network. After learning the neural network using 1,680 syllables written by five hand writers, the accuracy is calculated by using the new hand writers who did not participate in the writing of training data. The accuracy of phoneme-based recognition is 98.9% based on convolutional neural network. The proposed method has the advantage of drastically reducing learning data compared to syllable-based learning.

  • In Hangeul, the graphemes of syllables are organized in horizontal, vertical and mixed (both horizontal & vertical) orientations, and the graphemic position of consonant(s) and vowel(s) within a each syllable needs to be maintained within a square pattern. We investigated the characteristics of writing errors of 9 stroke patients with right hemisphere (RH) lesions and compared it to the performances of 15 normal subjects. The subjects were asked to write to dictation of 90 Korean syllables. One of the interesting findings was that our patients manifested visuospatial errors which are not commonly observed in other language-speaking (e.g., English) patients due to the unique syllabic organizations of Korean writing system. The prominent errors in the RH group could be explained by the impaired RH which normally controls the visuospatial functions.

Identity and Construction in Postmodern Context of Art Film Blue is the Warmest Color

  • This paper focuses on the aesthetic ideology and aesthetic style embodied in the work of 'Blue is the Warmest Color' to dissect it and examine the identity and construction of identity as a minority group in a postmodern context. Blue is the Warmest Color is a film that focuses on homosexual emotions in adolescent development, showing the budding love and emotional orientation of a 15-year-old girl's adolescence, and the ecstsy and torment that comes with an awakened consciousness. The evolutionary process of the characters' emotional orientations is dissected, pointing out that the central theme of the film is the concern for fluid identity and self-identity. Through the narrative and the setting of the characters' emotional patterns and the "Body Writing" of women, this paper further examine the typical variability and fragmentation of postmodern identity, and interpret in detail the content, messages and effects of the characters' dialogues in the film to illustrate the way in which the work expresses class and identity differences. The research method is based on textual analysis and theoretical research.

  • Group collaborative systems are recently emerging to support a group of users engaged in common tasks such as group decision making, engineering design, group scheduling, or collaborative writing. This paper provides an change management framework for the group collaborative system to facilitate managing dependency relationship between shared objects and dependent user views, and coordinating change and propagation activities between the two in distributed computing environments. Specifically, the framework adopts an object-oriented database paradigm and presents several object constructs capturing dependency management and change notification mechanisms. First, it introduces change management mechanisms with transient shared objects and secondly, it extends them into presistent object computing environment by integrating transaction management mechanisms and change notification mechanisms. A prototype change management framework is developed on a commercial object-oriented database management system.

대순진리회 도장 건축물 내정(內庭)에 대한 연구 - 내정의 문헌 출처와 그 맥락을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Naejeong (內庭) of Daesoon Jinrihoe Temple Complexes: Focusing on Literary Sources and Context)

  • 대순진리회의 도장 건축물들 가운데 하나인 내정(內庭)은 대순진리회의 통솔·감독·운영을 상징하는 공간이다. 내정의 사전적 의미가 '궁(宮) 안에서 정사(政事)가 이루어지는 곳'이라는 점을 고려하면, 건물의 명칭과 기능은 일치하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 그런데 내정이라는 명칭은 어느 도교 경전의 한 구절과 관련이 있다는 이야기가 종단 내에서 구전으로 전해오고 있다. 그 경전이란 게 실재하는지, 또 어떤 내용과 문맥을 담고 있는지는 밝혀진 바가 없다. 이 글은 이에 주목하여, 대순진리회 내정의 전거(典據)로 알려진 문헌을 추적하고 그것이 『여조전서(呂祖全書)』 속에 휘집(彙集)된 『전팔품선경(前八品仙經)』의 「오행단효(五行端孝)」임을 소개하며, 그 문헌의 내용과 도교사적(道敎史的) 맥락을 고찰한다. 이 문헌의 탄생은 명말 청초로 거슬러 올라간다. 당시 중국의 여러 지역에는 백성을 구제하고 신선술을 가르쳐준다는 이유로 여동빈을 신앙하는 일단의 지식인들이 있었다. 이들은 난단도교(鸞壇道敎) 공동체를 형성하여, 강신술(降神術)로 여동빈을 응하게 하고 강계(降乩)라는 방법을 사용하여 그에게 가르침을 받아 여러 도교 경전을 만들었다. 그들 가운데 몇몇은 1589년부터 1626년 사이에, 중국 광릉(廣陵) 만점(萬店)의 집선루(集仙樓)에서 여동빈으로부터 '오토결중곡(烏兎結中谷: 까마귀와 토끼는 중곡에서 모이고) 구사반내정(龜蛇盤內庭: 거북과 뱀은 내정에서 서로 얽혀있네)'이라는 문구가 든 경전을 강계로써 받아 「오행단효」라고 이름 지었다. 이 문구는 인체 내에 존재하는 음양과 수화(水火)의 두 기(氣)가 교구(交媾)하는 내단(內丹) 수련으로써 신선의 경지에 오름을 상징적으로 표현한 것이다. 그 수련은 효행을 극진히 해야만 가능하다고 한다. 구사합체(龜蛇合體)가 이루어지는 '내정'은 바로 그러한 수련으로써 신선으로 변하는 것을 상징적으로 표현한 용어였다. 「오행단효」는 여동빈의 다른 가르침을 담은 경들과 묶여 『전팔품선경』으로 합본되었고, 1744년에는 32권 분량의 여동빈 전집(全集) 『여조전서』에 포함되어 처음으로 세상에 나오게 되었다. 이처럼 여동빈이 도교 경전을 통해 전한 '내정'이라는 용어에는 백성을 구제하고 신선술을 가르쳐준다는 여조신앙(呂祖信仰)과 난단도교, 효사상, 그리고 수화 교구의 내단술이 배경으로 자리하고 있다.

사회적 상호작용과 도구 개선을 강조한 '탐구적 과학 글쓰기' 수업에 대한 중학교 과학 영재 학생들의 인식 (The Perception of Middle School Science-Gifted Students on the 'Science Writing Heuristic' Class Emphasizing Social Interaction and Tool Improvement)

  • 본 연구에서는 전라남도 소재의 국립대학교 과학영재교육원 소속 중학생 10명을 대상으로 사회적 상호작용과 도구 개선을 강조한 탐구적 과학 글쓰기 수업을 실시하여 STS 관계와 수업의 효과에 대한 학생들의 인식을 조사하였다. 사회적 상호작용과 도구 개선을 강조한 탐구적 과학 글쓰기 수업 후 학생들은 STS 관계에 대하여 다음과 같은 인식을 가지게 되었다. 과학 영재 학생들은 실험 도구와 기술이 과학이론 발전에 기여하며, 과학 기술만으로 모든 사회 문제를 해결하는 것이 어려우며, 과학이 사회적 상호작용 활동이라는 인식을 갖게 되었다. 또한 과학 영재 학생들은 동일 주제로 여러 시간 진행한 집중 탐구, 동료 평가 등을 이용한 다른 조원과의 의사소통, 같은 조원과 문제를 해결하는 의사소통, 탐구 과정에서 도구를 개선하는 활동, 익숙한 재료와 현상을 이용한 탐구 등을 통해 STS의 관련성을 인식하게 되었다고 응답하였다. 중학생 대상의 과학 영재 수업에서 학생들이 STS의 관계를 효과적으로 인식하도록 하기 위해서는 다양한 실험 도구를 활용한 문제 해결 경험, 동일 주제로 탐구 문제를 해결하는 과정에서 시행착오 경험, 연구 문제를 해결하는 과정에서 도구의 개선 경험, 동일한 주제로 탐구 활동을 진행하는 동료와의 의사소통경험, 다른 조와 탐구 결과를 공유하는 경험, 학생에게 익숙한 소재와 현상을 이용한 탐구 활동 등을 제공할 필요가 있다

그룹치료가 실어증자들의 언어수행력에 미치는 영향: 사례연구 (The Effects of Group Therapy on the Language Performance of Aphasics: 4 Cases)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of group therapy on the language performance of aphasic patients. Four aphasic subjects participated in group therapy. Their aphasic types were TCMA (transcortical motor aphasia), conduction, anomie, and Broca's aphasia. The focus of the therapy was to stimulate cooperative learning skills. For this purpose, categorization tasks, semantic association tasks, convergent thinking, and divergent thinking tasks were employed. The results showed that all of the aphasic subjects demonstrated some improvement in writing ability, categorization ability, and speaking ability in sentences.

수학적 의사소통을 강조한 수학 학습 지도의 효과 (Effects of Mathematics Instruction that Emphasize the Mathematical Communication)

  • The purpose of this study is to improve middle students'mathematical communication ability. We designed the mathematics instruction model based on Vygotsky's ZPD to develop the mathematical communication ability, and applied to 2nd grade students in Middle School. And we investigated the significant differences between the group which was instructed with mathematical communication and the group which was instructed with teacher's traditional explanation in aspects of learning achievement, mathematical disposition, and mathematical communication abilities. The results of the study are as follows : 1. There is no significant difference in learning achievement within significance level .05 between the group which was instructed with mathematical communication and the group which was instructed with teacher's traditional explanation by t-test. 2. There is a significant difference in reflection within significance level .01 and in self-confidence within significance level .10 by MANCOVA. 3. There is a significant difference in mathematical communication ability within significance level .01 between two groups by covariance analysis. In particular, there is a significant difference in reading within significance level .01 and in speaking within significance level .05 by t-test.

The Combined Effects of Metalinguistic Explanation and Self-Correction on Improving EFL Writing Accuracy

  • This study examined whether self-correction or metalinguistic explanation might make a difference in the ability to accurately write two English grammatical structures when learners received indirect teacher feedback in the form of underlining target errors in a Korean EFL college classroom. With the goal of helping low-proficiency students improve their ability to accurately write sentences including nonfinite present participial relative clauses and present participial constructions, four groups were formed: a group which received indirect feedback, a group which received indirect feedback and metalinguistic explanation, a group which received indirect feedback and self-corrected errors, and a group which received indirect feedback and self-corrected errors after receiving metalinguistic explanation. The results showed that the effects of either metalinguistic explanation or self-correction integrated with indirect feedback on learners' ability to accurately write the target structures were not meaningful, while the combined effects of metalinguistic explanation and self-correction were statistically significant.
