국가바람지도 및 국가지리정보에 의한 해상풍력단지 개발계획의 적합성 검토 (Suitability Review on Development Plans of Offshore Wind Farm Based on National Wind Map and Geographic Information)

  • The objective of this research aims preliminary assessments of the proposed plans of offshore wind farm development based on the recently established national offshore wind map and suitability assessment system of offshore wind farm. Incheon Mueodo, Busan Dadaepo-Gadukdo, Sinangun Haeodo have been assessed considering geographic constraints such as water depth, offshore distance, national park, grid connection, and meteorological constraint such as wind power density and wind direction. According to the assessment, Mueodo plan has a weak point in grid connection and several geographic limitations are involved in Haeodo plan while Dadaepo-Gadukdo seems the most possible plan among the review cases. Because of limited assessment in this research, more detail and further consideration are necessary to make a decision of a feasibility project at proposed sites.

  • This paper describes a monitoring system that monitors power quality and undesirable accidents when distributed generations are connected to the power grid. Prior to develop and operate a physical monitoring system, we constitute a simulation device to simulate the monitoring processes for the situations. The simulation system consists of the server and the client that connected by communication line. This system has various functions to monitor the power quality and the connection situation. Those functions are generation, transmission, acquisition and analysis of the simulated power data. This research seems very important to get the reliable and intelligent connection algorithm through the result of simulated monitoring system. Also hereafter, as this system uses the remote monitoring system through network and constitute the data base(DB), it will play an important role in building the automation of power system efficiently and systematically.

Electrical Technologies for Grid Integration of Ocean Wave Power into the UK National Grid

  • In this paper, multiple offshore wave energy converters with different output characteristics are connected to one power distribution substation. The connection between the power take-off of the different wave energy converters and the electrical power transmission system is presented in order to investigate whether multiple wave energy converters can augment energy yield and improve network integration capabilities. Moreover, the model of an array of wave energy converters is developed with the goal of analyzing the effects of the offshore wave farm on the electrical network to which it is connected. It is also developed to ensure that the electricity generated by the array is sufficiently controllable, and of a quality that can be integrate into the electricity supply network without unduly increasing the cost of connection, production or delivery.

  • In general, the voltage stability of induction generator is lower than synchronous generator. Induction generator has a number of advantages over the synchronous generator on the side of price and maintenance. So Induction generator has been applied to the small hydroelectric power of low output. Induction generator usually generates a high current during grid connection. The high current that occurs during grid connection can cause a voltage drop in the system. In order to increase the supply of the induction generator, it is necessary to propose a method of reducing high current. This paper proposes some method of the soft start to reduce voltage drop caused by the large starting current. soft-start method has high voltage drop effect than direct start method, control of firing angle can be increased the voltage drop effect.

  • A tendency to erect more wind turbines can be observed in order to reduce the environmental consequences of electric power generation. As a result of this, in the near future, wind turbines may start to influence the behavior of electric power systems by interacting with conventional generation and loads. Therefore, wind turbine models that can be integrated into power system simulation software are needed. In this paper, a model that can be used to represent all types of variable speed wind turbines in power system simulations is presented. Wind turbine characteristic equation of a wind turbine is implemented in the RTDS, and the real data of weather conditions are interfaced to the RTDS for the purpose of real time simulation of grid-connection wind power system. The outcomes of the simulation demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed simulation scheme in this paper. The results show that the cost effective verifying for the efficiency and stability of WPGS.

A Study on the Characteristics of Voltage Distribution of Stacked YBCO Coated Conductors in Series Connection

  • In order to apply superconducting electric machineries such as a Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) to the power grid, the single module should be connected in series to have reasonable size. Superconducting tapes in the module also should be stacked to satisfy requirements such as large operation current of the power grid. This is because a single superconducting tape has restricted applicable current capacity. Moreover especially in SFCL at the fault, there should be equal voltage distribution in series-connected SFCL modules. In this paper, we investigated the voltage distribution in fault current of series-connected YBCO coated conductors (CC). Depending on characteristics of the CC samples such as critical current, even voltage distribution could be achieved or not. In addition, the effect of stacked CC on the change of voltage distribution comparing to non-stack cases in series connection was confirmed by experiments. As the CC stacked, voltage difference could be reduced.

Non-Isolated High Gain Bidirectional Modular DC-DC Converter with Unipolar and Bipolar Structure for DC Networks Interconnections

  • In this paper, a novel high gain bidirectional modular dc-dc converter (BMC) with unipolar and bipolar structures for dc network interconnections is proposed. When compared with traditional dc grid-connecting converters, the proposed converter can achieve a high voltage gain with a simple modular transformerless structure. A sub-modular structure for the BMC is proposed to eliminate the unbalanced current stress between the different power units (levels) in the BMC. This can realize current sharing and standardized production and assembling. In addition, phase-interval operation is introduced to the sub-modules to realize low voltage and current ripple in both sides of the converter. Furthermore, two types of bipolar topologies of the sub-modular BMC were proposed to extend its application in bipolar dc network connections. In addition, the control system was optimized for grid-connection applications by providing various control strategies. Finally, simulations of a 3-level unipolar sub-modular BMC and a 4-level bipolar sub-modular BMC were conducted, and a 1-kW experimental 3-level unipolar prototype was developed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.

격자기반 적합 표면입자법을 이용한 자유표면유동 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of Free Surface Flows Using Adaptable Surface Particle Method based on Grid System)

  • In this study, the surface marker method, one of the particle tracking methods, used to track the free surface is extended to cover the more general cases easily including the collision and separation of the free surface. In surface particle method to redistribute particles effectively using the grid system, the free surface is composed of the sum of quadrilaterals having four curves where fixed markers are placed at ends of each curve. Fixed markers are used to know how curves are connected to each other. The position of fixed markers can move as the free surface deforms but all fixed markers cannot be deleted during all time of simulation to keep informations of curve connection. In the case of the collision or separtion of the free surface where several curves can be intersected disorderly, severe difficulties can occur to define newly states of curve connection. In this study, the adaptable surface parTicle method without fixed markers is introduced. Intersection markers instead of the fixed markers are used to define quadrilaterals. The position of the intersection markers is defined to be the intersection point between the free surface and the edge of the grid and it can be added or deleted during the time of simulation to allow more flexibilities. To verify numerical schemes, two flow cases are simulated and the numerical results are compared with other's one and shown to be valid.

계통연계 태양광발전시스템의 제어기법 및 연계운전특성 (A Control Method and Test Results of Utility-Interactive Photovoltaic Power Generation Systems)

  • 본 논문은 실용화 보급단계에 있는 대표적인 대체에너지 전원으로서, 태양전지, 직·교류(DC/AC) 인버터, 전력계통으로 구성되는 계통연계형 태양광발전시스템의 설계 및 시험결과에 대하여 기술하고자 한다. 계통연계를 위한 시스템 특성을 검증하기 위해 3상 직·교류 인버터를 포함한 50kW 계통연계 태양광발전시스템이 설계 제작되었다. 또한 d-q 변환을 이용한 PI 제어기를 갖는 전류제어방식의 3상 PWM 인버터 제어기법이 제시되었다. 실험결과들은 제안된 시스템이 계통연계 동작에 있어서 단위 역율로 안정하게 동작함을 보여준다.

  • 본 연구는 스마트분전반 MG(;Micro-Grid) 구성의 중심축으로 모듈형 하이브리드 발전원과 DC버스를 통하여 링크를 갖으며 표준소켓을 사용하여 불법연결을 감지 차단하는 기능을 부여하고, 전력계통의 안정화를 달성함을 목적으로 한다. 전력변환장치, 스마트분전반, 통합제어시스템의 개발과 효율적인 수요관리가 필요하며, MG 전체시스템과의 호환성이 절실하다. 이는 공통 전력 연결 규약으로 안전하고 누구나 연결을 쉽게 할 수 있는 하이브리드발전시스템으로 데이터 관리가 용이해지고 다양한 제조사의 시스템 확대설치에 대한 대비가 가능하다.
