  • $SF_6$ gas used widely as insulating component in electric power industry has excellent in insulation and arc extinguishing performance in gas-insulated switchgear. However, the concern about eco-friendly alternative gas is currently rising because $SF_6$ gas is one of the main greenhouse gases. In this paper, dry-air and composite-insulation (dry-air+epoxy) as the alternative technology for $SF_6$ gas insulation is studied. Under the gas pressure ranged from 0.1 to 0.6MPa, the breakdown voltage of dry-air were measured in AC electric field. The data of composite-insulation were acquired by changing the thickness of epoxy used in each composite-insulation under the same condition.

Installation and Test Run of Comprehensive Analysis System for SF6 in Power Equipment

  • After $SF_6$, which is being used in power equipment as an insulating material, is classified as one of the 6 major greenhouse gases, the maintenance and the refinement of used $SF_6$ started to get attention. In regard to this, KEPCO Research Institute (KEPRI) is developing $SF_6$ recovery and refinement technology starting with establishing a comprehensive $SF_6$ analysis system. With the analysis system, qualitative and quantitative analyses of the purity and the impurities of $SF_6$ before and after recovery, and before and after refinement have been carried out. The analysis system is comprised of GC-DID (Gas Chromatograph -Discharge Ionization Detector) for trace impurities analysis, GC-TCD (Thermal Conductivity Detector) for analyses of $SF_6$ purity and major impurities concentration from several hundred ppm up to percent range, GC-MSD (Mass Selective Detector) for analyses of impurities not included in standard gas, FT-IR (Fourier Transform-Infrared) Spectrometer for analysis of HF and $SO_2$, and moisture analyzer for analysis of moisture below 100 ppm. With this analysis system, complete analysis method of $SF_6$ has been established. This analysis system is being used in the maintenance of power equipment and the development of $SF_6$ recovery and refinement technologies. In this paper, the analysis results of four samples - gas and liquid phase $SF_6$ samples from a $SF_6$ refinement system before and after refinement are presented.

고압 전력기기에서의 $SF_6$ Gas 사용단계별 배출특성에 관한 연구 ($SF_6$ Emission Characteristics at High Voltage Equipments in use-phase Stage)

  • Sulfur hexafluoride($SF_6$) is a gaseous dielectric used in high voltage electrical equipment such as an insultor or arc quenching medium in the transmission and distribution of electricity. however, $SF_6$ is one of the greenhouse gases(GHG) with a global warming potential that is 23,900 times greater than that of carbon dioxide($CO_2$). for this reason, $SF_6$ emissions in electric equipment shall be controlled to reduce GHG and improve cost-effective use of $SF_6$ for economical benefits. Until recently there has not been any investigation on $SF_6$ emission characteristics and inventory in Korea. To understand emission characteristics during the use-phase, the scope of this study was limited to the following closed pressure system equipment from 10 substations in Korea. This study highlights (1) the investigation of sampling/analysis methodology for $SF_6$ emissions in high voltage equipment, (2) the estimation of $SF_6$ emissions in the use-phase, and (3) the comparison between the emission ratio and the mass-balance applied to inventory study. According to this study, the majority of emissions were related to electric equipment nameplates and the rest of the emissions were related to the handling of $SF_6$ during operations. from this result, emission ratios estimated from this study were similar; GIS was 14% and GCB was 13%, as maintenance process conditions were the same as manual process conditions for both equipment.

Lightning Impulse Breakdown Characteristic of Dry-Air/Silicone Rubber Hybrid Insulation in Rod-Plane Electrode

  • Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas is used widely in electric power equipment such as Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), Gas Insulation transmission Line (GIL), and Gas Circuit Breaker (GCB). But applications of SF6 should be restricted because SF6 gas is one of the greenhouse effect gases. To reduce use of SF6 gas, a study on eco-friendly alternative insulation medium is needed. In this paper, we investigated lightning impulse (LI) breakdown of dry-air which is attracting attention as an ecofriendly alternative gas and the LI breakdown of hybrid insulation combined with dry-air and solid insulation (Room-Temperature Vulcanizing Silicone Rubber-RTV SIR) and dry-air in inhomogeneous fields according to gap distance and pressure. The experiment results showed that the LI breakdown strength of hybrid insulation system was higher than that of dry-air insulation system. It was verified that the development of technology related to eco-friendly power apparatus compact such GIS, GCB and GIL can be used as basic research data.

  • $SF_6$ gas used widely as insulating component in electric power industry has excellent in insulation and arc extinguishing performance in gas-insulated switchgear. However, the concern about eco-friendly alternative gas is currently rising, because $SF_6$ gas is one of the main greenhouse gases. As one of the study for $SF_6$ free technology, composite-insulation technology is focused in this paper. To analyze the influence by epoxy thickness change, the composite-insulation composed of dry-air and epoxy was used in this paper. To analyze AC breakdown by the epoxy thickness, needle-plane electrode was used and needle was molded by epoxy. Under the gas pressure ranged from 0.1 to 0.6MPa, the breakdown voltage of dry-air were measured in AC electric field. The data of composite-insulation were acquired by changing the thickness of epoxy used in each composite-insulation under the same condition.

고온 플라즈마를 이용한 과불화화합물의 처리 특성 연구 (Study on Treatment Characteristics of Perfluorinated Compounds Using a High Temperature Plasma)

  • 본 연구에서는 반도체 제조 공정에서 발생되는 과불화화합물을 고온 플라즈마를 활용하여 분해하고자 하였고, 분해 특성을 조사하였다. 실험에 사용된 PFCs 가스는 200 L/min의 유량에 농도 5,000 ppm으로 주입하였다. 인입 전력에 따른 분해 효율 분석 결과 $CF_4$$SF_6$ 모두 12.8 kW의 전력에서 최고 효율을 나타내었고 그 이상의 전력에서는 큰 차이를 나타내지 않았다. PFCs의 재결합 방지를 위한 반응수 주입 실험 결과 약 14 mL/min의 유량에서 최고 효율을 나타내었으며 14 mL/min을 기준으로 유량이 증가하거나 감소함에 따라 모두 처리효율이 감소하였다. 연구 결과 고온 플라즈마를 활용한 PFCs의 분해 특성을 파악할 수 있었고 또한 반도체 제조 공정에서 발생하는 PFCs 및 온실가스에 처리에 대한 기초를 마련하였다.

IPCC가이드라인을 이용한 중소도시 C위생매립장의 메탄가스 발생량 예측을 통한 경제성 평가 (Estimation of Economics thorough Prediction of Methane Generation using IPCC Guideline from C Sanitary Landfill)

  • Global warming effect was intensified due to rapid growth of fossil fuel consumption caused by urbanization and industrialization. Various efforts was being done to solve the problems leading to anomaly climate such as flood, downpour, heavy snow. As a results of international efforts for management of global warming, Kyoto Protocol, which was passed in Kyoto, Japan in 1997, designated $CO_2$, $CH_4$, $N_2O$, HFCs, PFCs, $SF_6$ as a global warming gases. And IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) suggested IPCC guideline for systematic establishment of national greenhouse gas inventory. Among five categories in IPCC guideline, the representative emission source of waste category is SWDS(solid waste disposal site). The concentrative research should progress for effective management of greenhouse gas related with waste. In this study, Tier1 and Tier2 methods which was suggested by 2006 IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) guideline, was used to predict methane generation from C sanitary landfill located in Chungju area. To predict methane generation from C sanitary landfill, all factors were defaults values that were provided by 2006 IPCC guideline and Korea emission factors for Tier1 and Tier2 method. And economics of generated methane was estimated. From the predicted result using IPCC guideline, the methane generation was persistingly increased over a 9-year period(2000 ~ 2008). Aggregated amount of methane generation was about 3,017ton and 3,170ton predicted by Tier1 and Tier2, respectively. From the results of estimated economic value gained by generated methane from the C sanitary landfill for ten years from now(2010 ~ 2020), the profit was about 2.39 ~ 2.76 hundred million won.

국내 냉동 및 냉방부문 온실가스 배출량 산정 - 2006 IPCC GL Tier 2b 적용 - (Estimation of Domestic Greenhouse Gas Emission of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Sector adapting 2006 IPCC GL Tier 2b Method)

  • 우리나라는 기후변화 대응과 경제성장의 선순환 구조를 정착하고, 온실가스 감축의무에 대한 국제사회의 요구와 압박에 효과적으로 대응하기 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 특히 국제사회에 발표한 국가 온실가스 중기 감축목표(2020년 BAU 대비 30% 감축)의 이행을 위하여 부문별 업종별 온실가스 감축목표 설정 및 할당, 다(多)배출원에 대한 온실가스 에너지 목표관리제 적용 등 단계적인 온실가스 감축을 위한 정책을 추진 중에 있다. 이와 같은 제도의 성공적 정착과 시행을 위해서는 보다 정확하고 신뢰도 높은 부문별 온실가스 인벤토리가 필요하다. 특히 불소계 온실가스(HFCs, PFCs, $SF_6$)는 대표적 온실가스인 $CO_2$에 비교하여 GWP(global warming potentail)가 높아 지구온난화에 미치는 영향이 큼에도 불구하고, 우리나라에서는 아직까지 이에 대한 배출원 파악, 적용 가능한 활동자료 수집, 배출량 산정 등 체계적인 배출 통계 구축을 위한 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 불소계 온실가스 배출원 중 냉매(HFCs)를 사용하는 냉동 및 냉방부문을 중심으로 온실가스 배출량 산정방법론의 적용 타당성을 검토하였으며, 검토된 방법론을 이용하여 이동형 에어컨, 고정형 에어컨, 가정용 냉동장치, 상업용 냉동장치에 대한 온실가스 배출량을 산정하였다. 우선 방법론 측면에서 살펴보면, 냉동 및 냉방부문의 온실가스 배출량 산정에 있어 국가고 유배출계수 개발이나 산업부문의 활동 자료 통계 DB의 구축이 미비한 실정이므로 2006 IPCC 가이드라인의 Tier 2a(배출계수 접근법)보다는 Tier 2b(물질수지 접근법)가 적절하다고 판단된다. 2009년도 냉동과 냉방부문의 냉매사용에 따른 온실가스 배출량($CO_2eq.$) 산정 결과, 이동형 에어컨은 1,974,646 ton/year, 고정형 에어컨은 1,011,754 ton/year, 가정용 냉동장치는 4,396 ton/year, 상업용 냉동장치는 1,263 ton/year으로 총 2,992,037톤으로 산정되었다.

Variations of N2O by no tillage and conventional-tillage practices under the different kinds of fertilizer applications on the cultivation of soybean in Korea

  • Anthropogenic activities have increased the concentrations of greenhouse gases, such as $CO_2$, $CH_4$, $N_2O$, HFCs, $SF_6$, and PFCs, in the atmosphere. Among others, $N_2O$ is well known as an important greenhouse gas accounting for 7.9% of the total greenhouse effect and the effect of its emission is 310 times greater than that of $CO_2$. Agricultural $N_2O$ emissions are now thought to contribute to about 60% of the global anthropogenic $N_2O$ emission, which have been increased primarily due to fertilizer N consumption and manure management. Therefore, the reduction of $N_2O$ emissions in agriculture is being required. This study was conducted to determine the variation of $N_2O$ emissions by no-tillage (NT) and conventional tillage (CT) practices in the cultivation of soybean from the sandy loam soils under the different kinds of fertilizer treatments June through September 2016 in Cheong-ju, Republic of Korea. An experimental plot, located in the temperate climate zone, was composed of two main plots that were NT and CT, and were divided into four plots, respectively, in accordance with types of fertilizers (chemical fertilizer, liquid pig manure, hairy vetch and non-fertilizer). Among all the treatments, $N_2O$ emission was the highest in August and the lowest in June. When $N_2O$ emissions were evaluated during the growing season (June to September) in all fertilizer treatments, NT with hairy vetch treatment emitted the highest $N_2O$ emission in August, whereas, $N_2O$ emissions was the lowest in NT with non-fertilizer treatment in June, respectively (p = 0.05). Based on the cumulative amount of $N_2O$ emissions during the growing season of soybean, NT had lower $N_2O$ emission than CT by 0.01 - 0.02 kg $N_2O$, although NT had higher $N_2O$ emission than CT by 0.03 kg $N_2O$ in only the chemical fertilizer treatments. As a result, it seems that the applications of liquid pig manure and hairy vetch rather than chemical fertilizer could decrease the $N_2O$ emission in NT, compared to CT.

Pail내 돈슬러리의 메탄 발생량에 관한 연구 (Study on the Methane Emissions from Pails Storing Liquid Swine Manure)

  • 본 시험은 혐기조건하에서 돈슬러리로부터 발생하는 온실가스 연속측정 기술을 습득하고, 이를 이용해 온실가스의 일종인 메탄 발생량 및 시간대별 배출량 변화를 알아보기 위한 목적으로 수행하였으며, 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. TGA의 16 site에서 측정한 값들의 평균값은 2.437 ppm이었으며 표준편차는 0.024 ppm이었다. 각 site에서 평균값과 비교한 표준편차는 10% 이내였다. 따라서 각 site에서 측정된 값은 일정한 농도를 보인다고 할 수 있다. 2. 돈분뇨 액비에서 배출되는 $CH_4$을 측정하기 위해 돈분뇨 액비 저장조에서 액비를 샘플링하여 그것을 들통에 보관하였고, 들통에서 배출되는 $CH_4$ 배출량을 측정하였다. 들통 1, 2, 3의 $CH_4$ 배출량은 각각 413.9, 373.8, 그리고 391.9 ${\mu}g\;m^{-2}\;s{-1}$였고 세 들통의 평균값은 393.2 ${\mu}g\;m^{-2}\;s{-1}$이었다.
