Acrylic resin has been widely used for dental care since it requires relatively simple equipment for treatment and less time and cost are needed to make it and, furthermore, proper strength, dimensional stability as well as durability are ensured after treatment. A survey of denture users showed, however, that more than 60% of dentures installed need repair each year, $22{\sim}30%$ of which are due to falling out of teeth. This study is aimed at exploring the means to increase bonding strength of denture by reducing the causes for falling out of teeth during the processing of dentures. For this aim, the bonding strength of dentures was compares and analyzed before and after the glazed surface of teeth contacting denture was eliminated. From the analysis, it was revealed that there was a difference of 4.3MPa in average in bonding strength between 20MPa for the glazed surface not eliminated and 24.3MPa for the glazed surface eliminated.
Dental porcelain is one of the materials of choice for restoration where esthetics is of concern, but has a considerable potentials of wear. The wear of enamel is variable when opposed by different porcelain systems and surface conditions, and the exposed dentine and opaque porcelain due to clinical failure is expected to have high potentials of wear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the wear effects of self-glazed, polished incisal porcelain. polished dentine and opaque porcelain against human enamel in the laboratory by use of a pin-on-disk type wear tester. 4 types of dental porcelain($Vita-{\Omega}$, Ceramco-II, Vintage powder $Vita-{\alpha}$ of In-Ceram system) and type IV gold alloy as cotrol group were used for test specimens. Intact buccal cusps of maxillary premolar were used for enamel specimens, and the cusp converged to a point and was devoid of visible abrasion, caries, decalcification. The upper part was the cusp of a maxillary premolar and the lower part was a porcelain specimen. The enamel wear was deter-mined by weighing the cusp before and after each test. Surface profilometer was used to quantitate wear of the porcelain specimens. Vicker's hardness tester was used to evaluate the surface hardness of test specimens. The SEM was used to evaluate the wear surfaces. The results were as follows : 1 Self-glazed porcelain produced more enamel wear than polished porcelain, especially the enamel wear of $Vita-{\alpha}$ self-glazed porcelain was 3.2 times more than that of other groups. 2. Opaque porcelain produced least porcelain wear, $Vita-{\alpha}$ self-glazed porcelain produce greatest porcelain wear, but there was no statistically significant difference between the groups(p>0.05). 3. The enamel wear of dentine porcelain was 3.8 times more than that of polished inisal porcelain(p<0.05), and the enamel wear of opaque porcelain was 1.9 times more than that of polished inisal porcelain, but there was no statistically significant difference between the groups(p>0.05) 4. Overglazed porcelain produced less enamel wear than self-glazed porcelain, and more enamel wear than polished porcelain, but there was no statistically significant difference between the groups(P>0.05). 5. The hardness number of $Vita-{\Omega}$ dentine and Ceramco-II opaque porcelain was larger, but that of Vintage dentine and $Vita-{\alpha}$ self-glazed porcelain was similar to other groups. 6. Examination of SEM photographs revealed that overglazed porcelain had smoother surface than self-glazed porcelain, and self-glazed porcelain had smoother surface than polished porcelain. Much polishing scratches and larger porosities were observed on the opaque porcelain specimen, and much polishing scratchess and small porosities were observed on the dentine porcelain specimen.

PURPOSE. To investigate the effect of accelerated aging on surface properties of glazed CAD/CAM resin blocks using a 2D surface profilometer and a 3D non-contact optical profilometer. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Three types of CAD/CAM resin restorative materials, LAVA Ultimate (3M ESPE, St Paul, MN, USA), VITA Enamic (Vita Zahnfabrik H. Rauter, Bad $S\ddot{a}ckingen$, Germany), and Cerasmart (GC Corparation, Tokyo, Japan) were used for this study. CAD/CAM blocks were cut in 3-mm thickness slabs and divided into three groups; Group 1: control group (specimens polished with 600 grit SCI paper); Group 2: specimens sandblasted, silanized, and glazed with Optiglaze Color (GC); Group 3: glazed specimens subjected to 5000 thermocycles (n=15). The surface roughness ($R_a$ and $R_z$) was evaluated using a profilometer and a 3D scanning instrument. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Tukey's post- hoc test (P<.05). RESULTS. LAVA, VITA, and Cerasmart exhibited statistically similar $R_a$ and $R_z$ values for each group (P>.05). For VITA and Cerasmart, the specimens in Group 1 exhibited significantly higher $R_a$ values than Group 2 (P<.05). Group 1 ($0.502R_a$), Group 2 ($0.384R_a$), and Group 3 ($0.431R_a$) exhibited statistically similar $R_a$ values for LAVA (P=.062). After 5000 thermocycles, surface roughness values did not change significantly for glazed LAVA, VITA, and Cerasmart (P>.05). CONCLUSION. Glaze material Optiglaze Color makes CAD/CAM resin surfaces smooth and glazed CAD/CAM surfaces seem resistant to deterioration under 5000 thermocycles.
There are lots of buildings which were built before the Legislation on building energy rating system. Remodeling of the buildings would be required for an improvement of the building energy rating system was enforced by the government. In the Passive Building Design, Elements which will be used for the remodeling are Insulation, Window, External venetian blind, Heat exchanger. The Purpose of this study is to indicate a Method for the improvement of Energy saving by an analysis of Construction Cost, Cost Evaluation, Energy performance Efficiency in applied design elements. In this study, the remodeling of existing public buildings to improve energy efficiency rating was applied to extract the elements of design-specific energy performance, efficiency, and the application of the designs that has been analyzed. The results were as follows: applying the design-specific cost-effective investment that represents the economy (investment efficiency/%) surveyed the average insulation(7.0%), triple glazed windows(10.1%), double glazed windows(12.1%), external shading(24.5%), and Heat(77.2%) were analyzed in order to be more efficient. Analysis of the basis of information on the existing public buildings to improve energy efficiency rating for the remodeling depending on driving conditions at a degree of individual difference. The main effect, however, depending on economic investment, design elements, heat exchangers, external awning, double glazed windows, triple glazed windows, insulation, is recommended as review of the order shall be determined.
Leaching of lead from glazed potteries was studied under various conditions. The amount of lead was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Lead content was tended to increase with lowering PH of the solution below pH 4, but it was not detected at above pH 6 during the storage period of six weeks. More lead was leached out from the glazed potteries with red color than those of black color at the same pH. No lead was detected when the medicine-boiling pots were boiled with water or $4\%$ acetic acid solution for six hours. A significant accumulation of lead, however, was shown in Kimchi and mixed solutions of organic acids when they stored in the glazed potteries more than three weeks, although they appeared lead-free by the Korean Industrial Standard Test Method.

Recently in Korea, the interest for using window and window-wall in building picks up due to the beauty and utilization of space. But, interior space of the buildings shall be compartmentalized by fire resistance structures in accordance with the Korean building codes to prevent the spread of flame and damage of human life in fire. In case of installing non-insulated glazed window in compartment wall, the flame spread to adjacent space and the damage of human life by radiant heat can occur in fire. On this study, to confirm the risk of radiant heat for non-insulated glazed window in fire, the fire resistance tests were conducted. The temperature rise and heat flux on unexposed space was measured and analyzed.
Objectives: This study evaluated the effects of different surface conditioning methods on the bond strength of orthodontic brackets to glazed full-zirconia surfaces. Materials and Methods: Glazed zirconia (except for the control, Zirkonzahn Prettau) disc surfaces were pre-treated: PO (control), polishing; BR, bur roughening; PP, cleaning with a prophy cup and pumice; HF, hydrofluoric acid etching; AA, air abrasion with aluminum oxide; CJ, CoJet-Sand. The surfaces were examined using profilometry, scanning electron microscopy, and electron dispersive spectroscopy. A zirconia primer (Z-Prime Plus, Z) or a silane primer (Monobond-S, S) was then applied to the surfaces, yielding 7 groups (PO-Z, BR-Z, PP-S, HF-S, AA-S, AA-Z, and CJ-S). Metal bracket-bonded specimens were stored in water for 24 hr at $37^{\circ}C$, and thermocycled for 1,000 cycles. Their bond strengths were measured using the wire loop method (n = 10). Results: Except for BR, the surface pre-treatments failed to expose the zirconia substructure. A significant difference in bond strengths was found between AA-Z ($4.60{\pm}1.08MPa$) and all other groups ($13.38{\pm}2.57-15.78{\pm}2.39MPa$, p < 0.05). For AA-Z, most of the adhesive remained on the bracket. Conclusions: For bracket bonding to glazed zirconia, a simple application of silane to the cleaned surface is recommended. A zirconia primer should be used only when the zirconia substructure is definitely exposed.
The purpose of this study was to suggest ways on reducing the cooling and heating energy cost of the officetel building with the multiple glazing windows according to Life Cycle Costing. This study consisted of an hour-by hour energy simulation program and further data from the EnergyPlus V1-2-2 to the four pane type windows that were applied with 2 low-e polyester film and krypton gas to the officetel model building. It was determined that the four panes type windows that had 2 low-e polyester film and krypton gas applied to, them showed a cooling and heating cost reduction over traditional double glazed windows that were filled with air. According to this study, as well as the information from chart 4.5 and the LCC it was determined that the present value of the four panes of windows that had 2 low-e polyester film and krypton gas applied to them showed. a 11.4% reduction in heating and cooling in comparison to the traditional double glazed windows that were filled with air.
The excess heat that is generated from PV modules can be removed and converted into useful thermal energy. A photovoltaic-thermal(PVT) module is a combination of photovoltaic module with a solar thermal collector, forming one device that receives solar radiation and produces electricity and heat simultaneously. In general, two types of PVT can be classified: glass-covered PVT module, which produces high-temperature heat but has a slightly lower electrical yield, and uncovered PVT module, which produces relatively lower temperature heat but has a somewhat higher electrical performance. In this paper, the experimental performance of two types of the PVT combined module(water type), glazed(glass-covered) and unglazed, was analyzed. The electrical and thermal performance of the PVT combined modules were measured in outdoor conditions, and the results were compared.
The effect of different containers on preservation of the fresh produces of banana, non-astringent persimmon, strawberry, cherry tomato and enoki mushroom was evaluated by storage test at controlled chilled temperature. Korean earthenware containers (onggi) glazed and/or unglazed were compared with plastic box and chinaware (or glass bottle). Glazed onggi was effective in preserving banana, persimmon and cherry tomato, while there was only marginal or little benefit with strawberry and enoki mushroom. The positive effect of glazed onggi on the freshness keeping for these ethylene-sensitive commodities is reasoned to come from adsorption of ethylene by the onggi, which needs to be tested by further study.
