  • The main purposes of this study are to know the contents and forms of impressions that the general public, and the consumerists and environmentalists have of irradiated food, and to know what information of irradiated food influences their impressions. Other purposes are to know what sources those impressions derive from, to know which media they have recently been exposed to and paid attention to irradiated food through, to know which sources they trust of information regarding irradiated food most greatly, and finally to suggest policies and strategies of communication in order to shed positive impressions of irradiated food on people. This study was conducted through the person-to-person interview survey toward 1,200 adults, and 150 consumerists and environmentalists in 1999. Adults are sampled nationally in South Korea. Only 8.7% of the general public have heard of irradiated food. Impressions of irradiated food that the general public mentioned most frequently are: harmful, insecure, negative, etc. The consumerists and environmentalists were found to have the most inaccurate knowledge of irradiated food. Television and newspaper were the major sources of impressions of, exposure to and focus of attention on irradiated food. Based on these results, we seem to devise methods to enhance impression of irradiated food by disseminating information of advantages and benefits that irradiation provides food with and to promote the fact that irradiation on food is totally irrelevant to being radioactive, danger of a nuclear power plant, genetically modifying food, etc.

  • Objectives: Sarcopenia has emerged as a significant aging-related disease that affects many facets of societal-level and patient-level public health. This study analysed knowledge of sarcopenia and associated socio-demographic factors among the general public of Malaysia in order to effectively improve its prevention and countermeasures. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey was conducted in Selangor, Malaysia, using Google Forms among 202 Malaysian adults from January 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the socio-demographic characteristics and knowledge scores. The continuous variables were evaluated using the independent t-test, Mann-Whitney test, and one-way analysis of variance test. The Spearman correlation coefficient was employed to determine the correlation between socio-demographic characteristics and knowledge score levels. Results: The final analysis included 202 participants. The mean±standard deviation age was 49.03±12.65. Only 6.9% of participants had good knowledge of sarcopenia and were aware of sarcopenia's characteristics, consequences, and treatments. Post-hoc comparisons using the Dunnett T3 test showed statistical significance in mean knowledge score and age group (p=0.011) and education level (p≤0.001). The Mann-Whitney test revealed that gender (p=0.026) and current smoking status (p=0.023) significantly influenced knowledge scores. Conclusions: The general public's knowledge of sarcopenia was found to be poor to moderate and associated with age and education status. Therefore, education and interventions by policymakers and healthcare professionals to improve public knowledge of sarcopenia in Malaysia are needed.

  • Reduction methods for large structural systems have been reviewed. Mai emphasis is put on the dynamic reduction. Recently, the computing resources and technologies have been expanded so fast that the huge matrices Invoked In the analysis of structural system can be processed without serious difficulties. For most users, however, the computer facilities are limited and the system reductions in some forms are required. The reduction procedure in static problems is simple and straightforward. The major task is the book-keeping in computations. In dynamic problems and structural optimization. however. the problem is much more complicated. The problem is, in general, nonlinear and hence the exact solution is not available. Therefore, approximate solutions are sought in an iterative manner. A proper convergence criterion needs to be employed in order to get an accurate solution efficiently. Several research works have been reported fer the structural optimization combined with system reductions.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand mechanisms of scientific discovery and how this can help students, as young scientists, to understand scientific ideas in the science classroom. To unravel this mechanism, this study employed the notion of chaos. This phenomena was rediscovered by Edward Lorenz. In this paper, the general concept of chaos was briefly discussed in relation with previous scientific theories such as Newtonian physics and quantum mechanics. Following this, discovery constraints in terms of available technology at the time was described. In addition, Lorenz's psychological processes during the discovery was also discussed. Based on analysis, major implications for the field of science education were the provision of relevant schemata, the use of cognitive tools, the presentation of problems with various representational forms, and the sharing of ideas with others.

  • Small art museums are important objects in the point of view that they are museums to speak for the general architectural culture of current Korea and immediate factors to have an effect on urban street view and urban people's life. In small art museums, form has had plural transfigurational process when we analyze the external component elements or form types, we will find various aspects. In past, composition of form was expressed by simple partition of surface and columv. Now a days, it is expressed with unnumerable formal vocabularies. Although these forms being looked plural, form principle of composition that prescribe it can be rather simple. This study aims to grasp the characteristics and the composition technique of form in small art museums by analyzing compositional elements of it.

  • By use of the oceanographic data from 1932 to 1941 and from 1960 to 1967, the general properties of the cold water in the Korea Strait are discussed. This water characterized with temperatures 3-10$^{\circ}C$ and salinities 34.0-34.4 originates from the Japan Sea and begins to flow out in summer along the bottom about 8 to 18 miles southeast of Ulgi in Ulsan. It usually reaches the Pusan- Tsushima section and rarely to the west of the southernmost part of Tsushima. As it flows out, it shows rising trend along the coast of Korea and sometimes upwelling occurs in the vicinity of Ulsan. It seems that the cold water forms an under current along the bottom in summer and autumn in the western channel of the Korea Strait.

  • In this paper, the elastic epoxy added elastomer having viscoelasticity to existing epoxy was measured thermal, structural properties by DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry) and FESEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope). Specimens were made of dumbbell forms by the ratio of 5, 10, 15, and 20[phr] by regulation with elastomer contents. The measurement temperature dimensions of DSC were -20[$^{\circ}C$] to 150[$^{\circ}C$] and rising temperature was 4[$^{\circ}C$/min]. Also we observed structure through FESEM at the magnification of 1000 times with the voltage of 15[kV] after breaking by quenching specimens. As experimental results, we could know that thermal and structural properties were improved quantity according to decrease of elastomer contents. Namely, it increased glass transition temperature, high temperature, and matrix structure. In general, thermal, structural properties of 15[phr] was excellent among the specimens.

  • The performance of an acoustic transducer is determined by the effects of many design variables. and mostly the influences of these design variables are not linearly independent of each other To achieve the optimal performance of an acoustic transducer, we must consider the cross-coupled effects of the design variables. In this study with the FEM. we analyzed the variation of the resonance frequency and sound pressure of a flextensional transducer in relation to Its design variables. Through statistical multiple regression analysis of the results, we derived functional forms of the resonance frequency and sound pressure in terms of the design variables, and with which we determined the optimal structure of the transducer by means of a constrained optimization technique, SQP-PD. The proposed method can reflect all the cross-coupled effects of multiple design variables, and can be utilized to the design of general acoustic transducers.

  • The paper proposes analytical forms able to represent with very good approximation the constitutive law experimentally deducible by means of uniaxial cyclic compressive tests on material having softening post-peak behaviour in compression and negligible tensile strength. The envelope, unloading and reloading curves characterizing the proposed model adequately approach structural responses corresponding to different levels of nonlinearity and ductility, requiring a not very high number of parameters to be calibrated experimentally. The reliability of the model is shown by comparing the results that it is able to provide with the ones analytically deduced from two reference models (one for concrete, another for masonry) available in the literature, and with experimental results obtained by the authors in the framework of a research in progress.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of ongoing feedback from the professor in students' processes of learning and developing writing skills. Specifically, the researcher was concerned with how ongoing feedback affected students' attitudes towards writing because in EFL contexts, motivating students to write is a first step to engage them in a challenging journey of academic writing. 20 freshmen taking a writing course, "Paragraph & Essay Writing", at A university participated in this study and they were asked to complete the questionnaire at the end of the spring semester 2009. The results revealed that receiving ongoing feedback from the professor had a positive influence on affective domain, was helpful to develop learning strategies, and was valuable in learning outcomes. However, they also expressed negative opinions: feeling a burden, focusing on forms, and feeling confused. To reflect their opinions, the following four suggestions were made to create a more effective learning environment: promoting learner autonomy, facilitating individual writing conferences, giving balanced feedback in between form and content, and using judicious feedback through careful streaming.
