This paper was to investigate the effects of conjugal power and gender role attitudes on marital satisfaction of middle-aged couples. This survey was conducted from April, 2011 to May, 2011 and 265 responses from the survey were used for the analysis. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA pearson correlation and multiple regression. The research findings could be summarized as the followings. First, the mean scores of gender role attitude, conjugal power, marital satisfaction of the marital middle-aged couples were higher than averages. Second, gender role attitude and conjugal power were the significant predictors to explain marital satisfaction of marital middle-aged couples.
This study proposes to implement premarital education programs designed to enhance potential capacity in marital life, targeted at marriage expectant couple and verify the effectiveness of the programs. For this study, 8 marriage expectant couples residing in Seoul participated. For this study, advance and follow-up surveys were conducted. To be specific, the advanced surveys questions were posed regarding general features, the level of communication, conflict-resolution skills and the attitude toward the role of the gender and so forth of those persons polled. In follow-up surveys, questions were asked regarding the extent to which the participant was satisfied with the contents of the education and teaching process in each session of the programs, the attitude toward the role of the gender, the level of communication and conflict-resolution skills. The effectiveness of the program was verified based on the subjective level of satisfaction of the instructor and the program manager and the statistical analyses of advance and follow-up surveys. Our findings show: First, the changes in 'the attitude toward the role of the gender' of the participants after 'the education of the role of the gender' were not significantly related. Second, after 'the education of communication' was implemented, the capability of the participants to communicate proved to have improved. Third, the extent to which the participants were satisfied with the contents of the education scored higher than the average, the level of educational satisfaction with 'the skills of communication between the husband and wife' scoring the highest. Fourth, with respect to the level of overall satisfaction with the educational effects of the program, the level of satisfaction with improved relationship between each party of the couple turned out relatively high, and the level of the overall education program also proved to be high.

The purpose of this research is to compare the attitudes of female students in Korea toward science with the child-rearing attitude of their parents they perceived and their sex-role identity. The participants in this study were 374 female middle- and high-school students, chosen randomly from Seoul and Gyenggi-do in South Korea. We used three different forms of questionnaires in this research: "Scale of Parents' Child-rearing Behaviors Perceived by Teenagers", "Korea Sex-role Survey", and "Attitude Toward Science Measurement." The significant results were acquired after we had analyzed the comparison of the attitude of female students toward science with their perception on their parents' child-rearing attitude, especially on their fathers. The fathers' "monitoring" and "over-expectation" factors affected the attitudes of female students toward science; on the other hand, any child-rearing attitudes of their mothers did not influence their attitudes toward science. We also analyzed the attitudes of female students about science based on their sex-role identities. In consequence, we found that meaningful differences existed in four types of gender-role identity: androgyny type, masculinity type, femininity type and undifferentiated type. In particular, the androgyny type was characterized by a higher score in attitude toward science compared with the undifferentiated type.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the moderating effect of care service satisfaction, housework sharing, gender equality consciousness, and gender role attitude on the relationship between work family balance and the psychological well-being of working mothers. This study was conducted from March 20, 2013 to March 26, 2019, with a total of 163 questionnaires for working moms having elementary school children. The results demonstrating the positive effect of care service satisfaction provide policy implications for extending the care service system. Notably, it was confirmed that psychological well-being increased in cases of work-family conflict as housework sharing, egalitarian sex role attitude, and gender equality consciousness increased. Therefore, subsequent study will be necessary to discuss further about sharing the spouse 's housework and raising the gender equality consciousness.
This study examined the effects of employees' gender role attitudes, job involvement, and family involvement on their work-family conflicts, work-family facilitation, and utilization of family-friendly corporate policies. Data was collected from 377 full-time married workers from 262 large (more than 300 employees) and 100 small (fewer than 300 employees) private sector companies. The questionnaire's measurements were based on recommendations from the literature review. The questionnaire consisted of the gender role attitude scales, job and family involvement scales, work-family conflict and facilitation scales, and questions pertaining to the employee's utilization of family-friendly corporate policies. The SPSS 12.0 statistical package was used to analyze the collected data. The study found that employees showed more or less egalitarian gender role attitudes and that they were more involved in their family than their job. The employees' responses showed a low rate of utilizing family-friendly policies, but employees from large companies reported a higher utilization of family-friendly policies than those from small companies. There were also gender differences in employees' gender role attitudes, work and family involvement, and utilization of policies. Male workers held more traditional gender role attitudes, had higher levels of job involvement, and had higher rates of utilization of policies than female employees. Meanwhile, employees with children exhibited more traditional gender role attitudes and higher rates of utilization of policies than those without children. Finally, serial hierarchical regression analyses revealed that employees' more egalitarian gender role attitudes and higher job and family involvement predict higher work-family facilitation, while their gender role attitudes and job and family involvement have no significant influence on work-family conflicts. Also, employees from large companies with high job involvement will have significantly higher utilization rates of family-friendly corporate policies.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing sexual assertiveness in dating college students. Methods: With a cross-sectional survey design, 468 college students who have had dating experiences were recruited and answered questionnaires. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA with Scheffe? test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: The sexual assertiveness of college students showed significant results: positive correlations with self-assertiveness and negative correlations with traditional sexual attitude, gender role stereotypes. Significant predictors of sexual assertiveness were traditional sexual attitude, gender role stereotypes, and self-assertiveness. These variables explained 37% of the variance in sexual assertiveness. Conclusion: Findings suggest that it is important to identify and improve communication patterns in relation to sexual assertiveness. There is a need for sex education programs for college students that are relevant and effective.
The purpose of this study was to identify the attitude, role perception and nursing stress on life sustaining treatment of nurses. The participants were 160 nurses in G hospital of P city. Data were collected by using self-report questionnaires. The mean score of attitude toward life sustaining treatment was 3.33, role perception was 3.94 and nursing stress was 3.78. Attitude toward life sustaining treatment was significant difference for work unit and nursing stress was significant difference for gender, marital status and work unit. The nursing stress was positively correlated with role perception. The influencing factors of nursing stress were gender, medical ward, intensive care unit and role perception. Therefore, it is necessary to develop education program to reduce nursing stress and research is needed to verify the effectiveness of the program.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between leisure time and time pressure based on time availability perspective and gender perspective. For this purpose, this study examined the use of leisure time and the level of time pressure according to gender and gender role attitudes and investigated the relationship between leisure time and time pressure focusing on gender differences in the moderating effect of gender role attitudes. The sample for the study was drawn from the Time Use Survey data collected by Korean National Statistical Office in 2009. Two cases were gathered from each of the samples who are married, aged over 20, presently working and raising preschoolers, which makes 3,150 cases in the total. The major findings are as follows. First, the differences of leisure time between groups according to gender role attitude are not significant, but gender differences are significant. Men's leisure time is more than women's leisure time. Secondly, people with progressive gender role attitudes have higher time pressure than people with conservative gender role attitudes. By the gender groups, women's time pressure is higher than men's time pressure. Thirdly, men's time pressure is decreasing as leisure time increases, but effect of leisure time on women's time pressure is not significant. Women with progressive gender role attitudes have higher time pressure than women with conservative gender role attitudes. On the other hand, influence of gender role attitudes on men's time pressure is not significant. Fourthly, only male group has a significant moderating effect of gender role attitudes in the relationship between leisure time and time pressure. In other words, time pressure of men with conservative gender role attitudes is decreasing more sharply than men with progressive gender role attitudes as leisure time increases. In contrast, increased leisure time does not relieve women's time pressure even though they have conservative gender role attitudes. These results show that men's time pressure can be interpreted in the time availability perspective, while women's time pressure can be described in gender perspective.
Purpose: This study was done to develop a children's sex education program for the parents of lower elementary grade students and to evaluate its effects on sexual knowledge, gender role attitude, parent efficacy for child's sex education, and marital consistency. Methods: A quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The participants were 29 couples (58 parents, experimental group=28, control group=30) from G city. The 5-week (5-session) program was developed based on 'A theory of protection: parents as sex educators' and used the case-based small group learning method. Data were collected during July and August 2015. The characteristics of the program developed in the present study were a theoretical-based, client-centered, multi-method. Results: After the intervention, the experimental group showed a significant improvement in sexual knowledge, gender role attitudes, parent efficacy for child's sex education, and marital consistency, compared to the control group. The effect sizes of the program were .64 (knowledge), .65 (gender role attitudes), and .68 (parent efficacy). Conclusion: The results of this study provided implications for the parents as effective sex educator and the role expansion of school health nurses.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the actor and partner effects of the parental sex-role attitude on the parent-child relationship by using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM). Specifically, this study focused on the examination of the actor and partner effects of the parental sex-role attitude in married couples with immigrant women who have children under 5 years old. For the analyses, a total of 5,531 couples who participated in the National Survey on Multi-cultural Families were included and the major findings are as follows. First, the couple's sex-role attitude had a statistically significant actor effect on the parent-child relationship. Parents who were more conscious of gender equality displayed a better parent-child relationship and this effect was greater in the case of the father's attitude than the mother's. Second, the father's sex-role attitude had a statistically significant partner effect on the mother-child relationship, whereas the mother's attitude did not. Third, the couple's actor effects were greater than their partner effects and this means that the personal sex-role attitude has a greater impact on the parent-child relationship than the partners' attitude. The implication and limitations derived from these empirical-scientific database results and related studies in educational program of gender equality attitude for multi-cultural families.
