Bombesin has a high binding affinity to gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR) and can be used as a targeting ligand in GRPR-related cancers. Because GRPR is overexpressed in prostate cancer, bombesin analogues have been investigated extensively for diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. In nuclear medicine, bombesin derivatives labeled with radiometals such as ^55/57Co, ⁶⁴Cu, ⁶⁸Ga, ^99mTc, and ¹⁷⁷Lu or radiohalogen such as ¹³¹I and ²¹¹At were developed as markers for early detection of tumors and theragnostic tool for cancer treatment. This review focuses on the introduction of bombesin-based radiopharmaceuticals that are studied in pre-clinical or clinical research.

Gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) has been reported to be implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory disorders. The migration and proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are key components of vascular inflammation that leads to the development of atherosclerosis. The present study aimed to investigate the molecular effect of GRP on VSMC proliferation and migration. We report that GRP significantly enhanced the proliferation and migration of rat VSMCs. GRP increased mRNA and protein expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and -9 (MMP-2/9) in VSMCs. The induction of MMP-2/9 by GRP was regulated by the activation of the signal transducer and activator of transcription-3 (STAT3). In addition, STAT3-knockdown of VSMCs by siRNA or blockade of the GRP receptor inhibited GRP-induced migration of VSMCs. Taken together, our findings indicate that GRP promotes the migration of VSMCs through upregulation of MMP-2/9 via STAT3 activation.

Moxibustion treatment gives stimulus to specific points in the meridian distributed on the body, and controls imbalance of Qi, blood stream, and, Yin and Yang. So this treatment is the way that prevents and cures diseases by making meridian flow normal. Moxibustion stimulating conditions have a great influence on the treatment results. So proper standards of stimulus are needed to expect effective treatment results. To know what number of moxibustions are needed to gain good treatment effects, I observed the gastrin level in blood after moxibustion on the Xiawan(CV10). Gastrin stimulates to secrete gastric acid. The followings are the results. After 1, 5, and 10 moxibustions everyday on each rat for 5 days, 1 compared what number of moxibustion had a good effect. The group of 5 moxibustions every day had a more significant effect. After moxibustions of 1, 5, and 10 coagulated moxas on each rat, 1 compared the effect of the size of coagulated moxa. The group of 5 and 10 coagulated moxas had a more significant effect. After the same moxibustions on each ract for 1, 5, and 10 days, 1 compared the effect of moxibustion terms. The group of 5 days moxibustion had a more significant effect. These results say that the treatment effect of moxibustion can be varied by the choice of points, and the size, the time, and the number of moxibustions can bring out different effects. I think that the proper size, the proper time, and the proper number of moxibustions can be more effective than the excessive moxibustions.

Shangwan(CV13), Zhongwan(CV12), Xiawan(CV10), Hefu(L14) and Taichong(LR3) which belong to Conception Vessel and stomach meridian are acupuncture points frequently used for healing gastrointestinal desease in oriental medicine. The present study was conducted to see the effects produced by combined acupuncture(A), electro-acupuncture(EA) and moxibustion using five acupoints which belongs to different meridians on serum gastrin level in rats. Electro-acupuncture (2 Hz, intensity; 10 times muscle twitch threshold) was applied for 30 minutes to Hefu(LI4), Taichong(LR3) under halothane anesthesia. Moxibustion ($1.6{\pm}0.3\;mg$, 5 times of a day) was applied during 3 days to CV10, CV12, CV13 under halothane anesthesia. Combined stimuli of acupuncture at Hefu(LI4), Taichong(LR3) and moxibustion at CV13, CV12 increased serum gastrin level significantly eventough combined simulus of moxibustion on CV 10 was not shown any change. And combined stimul of EA and moxibustion at experimental all groups were not shown any effects. These data suggest that effects of acupuncture and moxibustion are depentent with used acupoints and combination stimuli method.

본 실험은 사군자탕합창출지유탕(四君子湯合蒼朮地楡湯)의 만성설사(慢性泄瀉)에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 시행되었다. 실험을 위해 흰쥐에 3주일간 castor oil과 대황(大黃)분말을 병행 투여하여 1주일후부터 지속적인 설사를 보인쥐를 선정, 만성설사의 모델로 삼았다. 이를 대조군과 실험군으로 구분하여 위장관 기능과 영양상태를 비교하였고, 개선여부를 알아보기 위해 아무런 처치를 받지 않은 정상군을 검체 체취에 사용하였다. 실험군과 대조군에서 검액 투여전 모두 위장관 기능과 영양상태가 감소한 상태였으며, 검액을 투여한 후 실험군에서 대조군에 비해 위장관 기능과 영양상태가 개선된 경향을 보였는데, 특히 gastrin과 total lipid, 그리고 hematocrit 수치가 유의성 있게 나타나 사군자탕합창출지유탕(四君子湯合蒼朮地楡湯)이 만성설사(慢性泄瀉)에 효과가 있는 것으로 사료된다.
