  • In this paper, a class of nonlinear bilevel programs, i.e. the lower level problem is linear programs, is considered. Aiming at this special structure, we append the duality gap of the lower level problem to the upper level objective with a penalty and obtain a penalized problem. Using the penalty method, we give an existence theorem of solution and propose an algorithm. Then, a numerical example is given to illustrate the algorithm.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine high school second graders' understanding of the basic nature of logarithm, the major type of error they made about logarithmic function and the cause of such an error, and to seek ways to instruct it better. For that purpose, three research questions were posed: 1. Investigate how much high school students in their second year comprehend the nature of logarithm. 2. Analyze what type of error they make about logarithmic function. 3. Analyze the cause of their error according to the selected error models and how it could be taught more efficiently. The findings of this study were as below: First, the natural science students had a better understanding of the basic nature of logarithm than the academic students. What produced the widest gap between the two groups' understanding was applying the nature of logarithm to the given problems, and what caused the smallest gap was the definition of logarithm and the condition of base. Second, the academic students had a poorer understanding of the basic nature of logarithmic function graph and of applying the nature of logarithm to the given problems. Third, the natural science students didn't comprehend well the basic nature of logarithmic function graph, the nature of characteristics and mantissa. Fourth, for all the students from academic and natural science courses, the most common errors were caused by the poor understanding of theorem or nature of the [E4] model. Fifth, the academic students made more frequent errors due to the unfamiliar signs of the [El] model, the imperfect understanding of theorem or nature of the [E4] model, and the technical part of the [E6] model. Sixth, the natural science students made more frequent errors because of the improper problem interpretation of the [E2] model and the logically improper inference of the [E3] model.

  • This paper proposes a V-shaped Lyapunov function approach for the model-based control of flexible-joint robots, in which a new model-based nonlinear control scheme is designed based on a V-shaped Lyapunov function. The proposed control guarantees global asymptotic stability for link trajectory control while keeping all internal signals bounded. Since joint flexibility is used as a control parameter, the proposed control is not restricted by the degree of joint flexibility and be applied to flexibility-joint, partly-flexibility, or rigid-joint robots without modification. the effectiveness of the proposed control has been by computer simulation.

  • Film Bulk Acoustic wave Resonator (FBAR) using thin piezoelectric films can be made as monolithic integrated devices with compatibility to semiconductor process, leading to small size and low cost, high Q RF circuit elements with wide applications in communications area. This paper presents a MMIC compatible suspended FBAR using surface micromachining. Membrane is composed $Si_3N_4SiO_2Si _3N_4$ multi layer and air gap is about 50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Firstly, We perform one dimensional simulation applying transmission line theorem to verify resonance characteristic of the FBAR. Process of the FBAR is used MEMS technology. Fabricated FBAR resonate at 2.4GHz, $K^2_{eff}$ and Q are 4.1% and 1100.

  • A growing interest in management and treatment for patients with temporomandibular disorder(TMD) by many health workers, including oriental medicine doctors, physical therapists as well as dentists, have been noted in South Korea. Some of these health workers claim correlation between dental occlusion, TMD, and systemic symptoms such as tinnitus, dizziness, neck pain, myalgia, low back pain, posture and many other systemic symptoms and many controversial treatments are being carried out on bases of theories and reasons with no strong scientific evidence. This article is a result of preliminary study by authors in gathering scientific data on few of these various treatment modalities for TMD using MEDLINE data, internet and tutorials given by those who are using these TMD treatment methods. The modalities that had been searched are as follows; (1) Craniosacral mechanism (2) Osteopathy (3) Myodontics (4) Chirodontics (5) Dental Distress Syndrome and Quadrant Theorem. An outline of those theories will be introduced, and the contents in detail for respective theory will be reported in the following articles.

  • In this paper, for a transcendental meromorphic function f and α ∈ ℂ, we have exhaustively studied the nature and form of solutions of a new type of non-linear differential equation of the following form which has never been investigated earlier: $$f^n+{\alpha}f^{n-2}f^{\prime}+P_d(z,f)={\sum\limits_{i=1}^{k}}{p_i(z)e^{{\alpha}_i(z)},$$ where Pd(z, f) is a differential polynomial of f, pi's and αi's are non-vanishing rational functions and non-constant polynomials, respectively. When α = 0, we have pointed out a major lacuna in a recent result of Xue [17] and rectifying the result, presented the corrected form of the same equation at a large extent. In addition, our main result is also an improvement of a recent result of Chen-Lian [2] by rectifying a gap in the proof of the theorem of the same paper. The case α ≠ 0 has also been manipulated to determine the form of the solutions. We also illustrate a handful number of examples for showing the accuracy of our results.

  • Purpose: To establish the methods for sinogram formation and correction in order to appropriately apply the filtered backprojection (FBP) reconstruction algorithm to the data acquired using PET scanner with multiple scintillation crystal layers. Materials and Methods: Formation for raw PET data storage and conversion methods from listmode data to histogram and sinogram were optimized. To solve the various problems occurred while the raw histogram was converted into sinogram, optimal sampling strategy and sampling efficiency correction method were investigated. Gap compensation methods that is unique in this system were also investigated. All the sinogram data were reconstructed using 20 filtered backprojection algorithm and compared to estimate the improvements by the correction algorithms. Results: Optimal radial sampling interval and number of angular samples in terms of the sampling theorem and sampling efficiency correction algorithm were pitch/2 and 120, respectively. By applying the sampling efficiency correction and gap compensation, artifacts and background noise on the reconstructed image could be reduced. Conclusion: Conversion method from the histogram to sinogram was investigated for the FBP reconstruction of data acquired using multiple scintillation crystal layers. This method will be useful for the fast 20 reconstruction of multiple crystal layer PET data.

  • A programme, called BIPOLE, for the numerical analysis of twotimensional n-p-n bipolar transistors was developed. It has included the SRH and Auger recolnbination processes, the mobility dependence on the impurity density and the electric field, and the band-gap narrowing effect. The finite difference equations of the fundamental semiconductor equations are formulated using Newton's method for Poisson's equation and the divergence theorem for the hole and electron continuity equations without physical restrictions. The matrix of the linearized equations is sparse, symmetric M-matrix. For the solution of the linearized equations ICCG method and Gummel's algorithm have been employed. The programme BIPOLE has been applied to various kinds of the steady-state problems of n-p-n transistors. For the examples of applications the variations of common emitter current gain, emitter and diffusion capacitances, and input and output characteristics are calculated. Three-dimensional representations of some D.C. physical quantities such as potential and charge carrier distributions were displayed. This programme will be used for the nome, rical analysis of the distortion phenom ana of two-dimensional n-p-n transistors. The BIPOLE programme is available for everyone.
