  • Biological enhanced treatment and send filtration are established being operated to remove nutrients and MBAS(Methylene Blue Activate Substance) in the most of Waste Water Treatment Plant(WWTP) in Korea. However, untreated synthetic detergents and nutrients which directly run into the water system present an unpleasant view because of the foam, taste and odor generating filamentous periphytic algae and interrupting self-purification in the stream. Therefore, this research was enforced to know the MBAS removal efficiency of the sand filtration about G WWTP which reuses effluent as urban stream management water. As a result, the maximum removal efficiency using sand filtration was 63% after 24 hours and particularly 30% after 2 or 4 hours which turned out to be not that effective. In conclusion, It is recognized that other methods of MBAS removal and a research will be needed which reuse effluent as urban stream management water from now on. Because the MBAS removal with sand filtration is insufficient with economical efficiency from the fact that it needs long hours for a sand filtration treatment and the removal efficiency was almost below the expectation.

  • The visual design elements of packaging play an vital role in attracting consumers' attention, forming their sense of pleasure and sensory expectations, as well as having an important impact on the actual product experience. This study aims to explore whether the colors and textures in the packaging design elements of canned beer will affect consumers' senses, judgments and taste perception of canned beer. Participants in Survey I (N=193) evaluated their expectations for beer freshness, softness, bitterness and alcohol content by observing the packaging of canned beer, then recorded whether they could get the expected experience when tasting beer, and evaluated their preference and purchase intention. In the Survey II, 4 kind of colors and 2 types of texture shapes were applied, and all participants were provided with the same beer for multivariate cross contract analysis to evaluate the specific impact of color and texture of packaging design elements on consumers' taste and the interaction between sensory judgment and taste perception. The results showed that both colors and textures had a significant affect on the sensory expectation (pre-tasting score) of canned beer, but their effects on the sensory score after tasting (actual perception)were inobvious. The analysis of the influence of the interaction between color, texture and shape on taste perception shows that when the expected packaging appearance perception is similar to the actual drinking perception (i.e., straight line and B/G or arc line and Y/R), it is more likely to obtain consumers' favor and higher purchase intention evaluation than the inconsistent canned beer packaging (i.e., straight line and Y/R and arc line and B/G). This paper discusses the influence of these results on the packaging design of canned beer and the possibility of improving the brand efficiency by meeting the visual elements of packaging design expected by consumers.

  • Recently, big data analysis which is based on machine learning has been gained a lot of attentions in various fields. Especially, agriculture is considered as one promising field that machine learning algorithm can be efficiently utilized and accordingly, lots of works have been done so far. However, most of the researches are focusing on the forecast of weather or analysis of genome, and machine learning algorithm for livestock management, especially which uses individual data of livestocks, e.g., temperature and movement, are not properly investigated yet. In this work, we propose fast abnormal livestock detection algorithm based on machine learning, more specifically expectation maximization, such that livestock which has problem can be efficiently and promptly found. In our proposed scheme, livestocks are divided into two clusters using expectation maximization based on their bionic data and the abnormal livestock can be detected by comparing the size of two clusters. Especially, we divide the case in which single livestock has problem and the case in which livestocks have epidemic such that fast response is enabled when epidemic case. Moreover, our algorithm does not need statistical information.

  • The major purpose of this article is to examine what kind of gap exists between mathematically gifted students' probability knowledge and the reality actually applying that knowledge and then analyze the cause of the gap. To attain the goal, 23 elementary mathematically gifted students at the highest level from G region were provided with problem situations internalizing a probability and expectation, and the problems are in series in which conditions change one by one. The study task is in a gaming situation where there can be the most reasonable answer mathematically, but the choice may differ by how much they consider a certain condition. To collect data, the students' individual worksheets are collected, and all the class procedures are recorded with a camcorder, and the researcher writes a class observation report. The biggest reason why the students do not make a decision solely based on their own mathematical knowledge is because of 'impracticality', one of the properties of probability, that in reality, all things are not realized according to the mathematical calculation and are impossible to be anticipated and also their own psychological disposition to 'avoid loss' about their entry fee paid. In order to provide desirable probability education, we should not be limited to having learners master probability knowledge included in the textbook by solving the problems based on algorithmic knowledge but provide them with plenty of experience to apply probabilistic inference with which they should make their own choice in diverse situations having context.

  • The transcriptomes of four ginseng accessions such as Cheonryang (Korean ginseng cultivar), Yunpoong (Korean ginseng cultivar), G03080 (breeding line of Korean ginseng), and P. quinquefolius (American ginseng) was characterized. As a result of sequencing, total lengths of the reads in each sample were 156.42 Mb (Cheonryang cultivar), 161.95 Mb (Yunpoong cultivar), 165.07 Mb (G03080 breeding line), and 166.48 Mb (P. quinquefolius). Using a BLAST search against the Phytozome databases with an arbitrary expectation value of 1E-10, over 20,000 unigenes were functionally annotated and classified using DAVID software, and were found in response to external stress in the G03080 breeding line, as well as in the Cheonryang cultivar, which was associated with the ion binding term. Finally, unigenes related to transmembrane transporter activity were observed in Cheonryang and P. quinquefolius, which involves controlling osmotic pressure and turgor pressure within the cell. The expression patterns were analyzed to identify dehydrin family genes that were abundantly detected in the Cheonryang cultivar and the G03080 breeding line. In addition, the Yunpoong cultivar and P. quinquefolius accession had higher expression of heat shock proteins expressed in Ricinus communis. These results will be a valuable resource for understanding the structure and function of the ginseng transcriptomes.

  • The aim of this research is to find out how convergent operation of the learning coaching and compensation system affects the academic self-efficiency and learning performance of university students. In the second semester, a compensation system was prepared based on learning coaching and learning outcomes, made a notice in advance, and conducted a survey before and after operation to measure the academic self-efficacy. In addition, the MLST-II Learning Strategy Diagnosis Examination was conducted on G university students to diagnose the learning tendency. As a result, although G University students felt a reluctance by coaching the learning community and expected negative results during the course of participation in the learning community due to low motivation and low expectation of results, they showed a significant improvement in academic self-efficiency and learning outcomes. Therefore, even students with negative learning tendency will need to consider how to operate these programs in the educational field, as the expert's learning coaching and compensation systems produce positive results for students' academic self-efficiency and learning outcomes rather than leaving them to autonomy.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore and better understand special education music teachers' perceptions of their music curriculum. For this purpose, we conducted a focus group interview with seven special education music teachers. During the interview, four major themes and 14 sub-themes were identified. The main themes were the following: (a) types of applied activities and the goals of music classes (e.g., activities to be applied in various ways depending on the characteristics of the disability and intended outcome), (b) difficulty in implementing the music curriculum (e.g., lack of fit between textbook and students' chronological ages, lack of time and focus, self-evaluation of performance as a music teacher, (c) therapeutic experiences during music classes (e.g., expectation for positive effects through music therapy, joy of witnessing changes in students, and sense of togetherness), and (d) obstacles to the therapeutic approach of music classes and need for support (e.g., lack of professional knowledge regarding therapeutic approaches and problems with administrators and school environment). Based on these results, problems in implementing the music therapy approach as part of the music curriculum in special education schools are discussed and practical solutions for educators are offered.

  • Many organizations experience that the value they gained from IT (information technology) investment is lower than they expected prior to the actual implementation of a system - the value gap between expected value and realized value from IT. Research on the barriers to the expectation and realization is of high importance both in practice and in IS research. This study analyzed such barriers observed in three companies that have adopted such IT systems as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems each. From analyses of the three companies we specifically identified eight types of barriers: barriers related to industry, organization, knowledge, resource, usage, competence, product, and safety. Common barriers among the three cases were classified into six types, e.g. lack of strategic mind-set, improper organizational structure, lack of human resource, etc. We expect that the results help managers in IS investment to minimize the valuation gap and maximize realized values.

  • Go is an ancient game of great complexity and has a huge following in East Asia. It is also very rich mathematically, and can be played on any graph, although it is usually played on a square lattice. As with any game, one of the most fundamental problems is to determine the number of legal positions, or the probability that a random position is legal. A random Go position is generated using a model previously studied by the author, with each vertex being independently Black, White or Uncoloured with probabilities q, q, 1 - 2q respectively. In this paper we consider the probability of legality for two scenarios. Firstly, for an $N{\times}N$ square lattice graph, we show that, with $q=cN^{-{\alpha}}$ and c and ${\alpha}$ constant, as $N{\rightarrow}{\infty}$ the limiting probability of legality is 0, exp($-2c^5$), and 1 according as ${\alpha}$ < 2/5, ${\alpha}=2/5$ and ${\alpha}$ > 2/5 respectively. On the way, we investigate the behaviour of the number of captured chains (or chromons). Secondly, for a random graph on n vertices with edge probability p generated according to the classical $Gilbert-Erd{\ddot{o}}s-R{\acute{e}}nyi$ model ${\mathcal{G}}$(n; p), we classify the main situations according to their asymptotic almost sure legality or illegality. Our results draw on a variety of probabilistic and enumerative methods including linearity of expectation, second moment method, factorial moments, polyomino enumeration, giant components in random graphs, and typicality of random structures. We conclude with suggestions for further work.
