  • We give a fixed point theorem for complete fuzzy metric space which generalizes fuzzy Banach contraction theorems established by V. Gregori and A. Spena [Fuzzy Sets and Systems 125 (2002), 245-252] using notion of altering distance, initiated by Khan et al. [Bull. Austral. Math. Soc. 30 (1984), 1-9] in metric spaces.

  • In this paper, we give some new denitions of $\cal{L}^*_\cal{M}$-fuzzy metric spaces and we prove a common xed point theorem for two mappings in complete $\cal{L}^*_\cal{M}$-fuzzy metric spaces. We get some improved versions of several xed point theorems in complete $\cal{L}^*_\cal{M}$-fuzzy metric spaces.

  • Fuzzy information retrieval which uses the concept of fuzzy relation is able to retrieve documents in the way based on not morphology but semantics, dissimilar to traditional information retrieval theories. Fuzzy information retrieval logically consists of three sets : the set of documents, the set of terms and the set of queries. It maintains a fuzzy relational matrix which describes the relationship between documents and terms and creates a thesaurus with fuzzy relational product. It also provides the user with documents which are relevant to his query. However, there are some problems on building a thesaurus with fuzzy relational product such that it has big time complexity and it uses fuzzy values to be processed with flating-point. Actually, fuzzy values have to be expressed and processed with floating-point. However, floating-point operations have complex logics and make the system be slow. If it is possible to exchange fuzzy values with binary values, we could expect sp eding up building the thesaurus. In addition, binary value expressions require just a bit of memory space, but floating -point expression needs couple of bytes. In this study, we suggest a new method of building a thesaurus, which accelerates the operation of the system by pre-applying an ${\alpha}$-cut. The experiments show the improvement of performance and reliability of the system.

  • In this paper, a method to find the weighted possibilistic variance and moments about the mean value of fuzzy numbers via applying a difuzzification using minimizer of the weighted distance between two fuzzy numbers is introduced. In this way, we obtain the nearest weighted point with respect to a fuzzy number, this main result is a new and interesting alternative justification to define of weighted mean of a fuzzy number. Considering this point and the weighted distance quantity, we introduce the weighted possibilistic mean (WPM) value and the weighted possibilistic variance(WPV) of fuzzy numbers. This paper shows that WPM is the nearest weighted point to fuzzy number and the WPV of fuzzy number is preserved more properties of variance in probability theory so that it can simply introduce the possibilistic moments about the mean of fuzzy numbers without problem. The moments of fuzzy numbers play an important role to estimate of parameters, skewness, kurtosis in many of fuzzy times series models.

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish the common fixed point theorem in the intuitionistic fuzzy metric space in which it is a little revised in Park [11]. Our research are an extension of Jungck's common fixed point theorem [8] in the intuitionistic fuzzy metric space.

  • Fixed point theory is one of famous theories from theoretical and numerical point of views. Banach fixed point theorem plays a main role in this theory. In this article, Grabiec's fuzzy Banach contraction theorem [3] and Vasuki's theorem [12] for a complete fuzzy metric space, in the sense of Song [11] (or George and Veeramani), is proved by an extra condition.

  • Solar cell has an optimum operating point to extract maximum power. To control operating point of the solar cell, a fuzzy controller has already been proposed by our research group. However, several parameters are determined by trial and error. To overcome this problem, this paper adopts Fuzzy Neural Network (FNN) for maximum power point tracking control for photovoltaic array. The FNN can be trained to perfect fuzzy rules and to find an optimum membership functions on-line.

  • In this paper, we establish common fixed point theorem for type(${\beta}$) compatible four mappings with implicit relations defined on an intuitionistic fuzzy metric space. Also, we present the example of common fixed point satisfying the conditions of main theorem in an intuitionistic fuzzy metric space.
