  • A tree-indexed autoregressive(AR) process is a time series defined on a tree which is generated by a branching process and/or a deterministic splitting mechanism. This short article is concerned with conditional heteroscedastic structure of the tree-indexed AR models. It has been usual in the literature to analyze conditional mean structure (rather than conditional variance) of tree-indexed AR models. This article pursues to identify quadratic conditional heteroscedasticity inherent in various tree-indexed AR models in a unified way, and thus providing some perspectives to the future works in this area. The identical conditional variance of sisters sharing the same mother will be referred to as the branching heteroscedasticity(BH, for short). A quasilikelihood but preliminary estimation of the quadratic BH is discussed and relevant limit distributions are derived.

  • This lecture will begin by tracing some of the history behind techniques that we nowadays take for granted in the practice of embryo transfer, and in the application of the technique to various animal biotechnologies. It will be argued that an appreciation of such history can teach us a great deal about how we need to study and teach the subject, and about the best ways to conduct and finance the research that is essential to further progress. Examples in support of this argument will be taken from the changes that have occurred in the way embryos, particularly bovine embryos, have been collected, maintained in vitro, subjected to a variety of manipulations (sexing, division to produce identical animals, combination into chimeras, transfection with foreign genes), frozen and thawed, and transferred over the past 50 years. • Picture archiving and communication system (PACS) is an image information technology system for the transmission and storage of medical images. In Korea the first full PACS was installed at Samsung Medical Center in 1994, but, the rate of distribution was very slow. The government's approval for the medical insurance reimbursement for full PACS examinations in November 1999 became the turning point. Thereafter the number of hospitals with full PACS has steeply increased. In September of this year, PACS was installed at 906 medical institutes, including most of university hospitals and general hospitals. The first full dental PACS was installed at Wonkwang University Dental Hospital in 2002. Now ten out of eleven university dental hospitals implemented full dental PACS. The current status and technological factors of dental PACS in Korean university dental hospitals and the future perspectives of dental PACS are described. • Visual images are important elements of the communication of environment in secondary school environment textbooks, which dominate classroom approaches to teaching and learning. This study was to analysed the perspectives of pedagogical and social-pedagogic of visual images in 'global warming' unit of six different Korean environment textbooks. Analysis makes use of the dimensions pedagogical functions, content specialization, social-pedagogic relationships, and abstraction of the visual codes. The results showed that most of the visual images in school environment textbooks tend to establish social-pedagogic relationships with students. The results of our study have implications for textbook authors and secondary environment teachers. We suggest that future studies may focus on students' and teacher's interpretation of visual images new secondary environment textbooks.

  • We face many fascinating and diverse challenges, the most important among which is to determine how to store a large amount of information with novel approaches. Info-convergence ceramic nanosystems, which combine ceramic materials science and information technology, may provide an attractive alternative. This review considers recent multidisciplinary advances in the development of info-convergence nanosystems based on ceramic materials and discusses various strategies under ceramic-based information systems with a special focus on materials and nanohybridization technologies. Ceramic materials have played diverse roles not only as the generic coding support, but also as the central coding substance. The review highlights the ceramic nanohybrid bio code and ceramic nanoparticle optical code for applications in tracking-and-traceability management, nano-forensics, anti-counterfeiting, and even communication, as well as the four steps of encoding, encrypting, decrypting, and decoding for the desired applications. Additionally, associated challenges, potential solutions, and perspectives for future developments in the field are discussed.

  • This research deals with a new concept regarding creative enlargement in order for useful space composition. Architecture, through interior design case analysis has given birth to a new concept and inspiration altering interior designer's perspectives on the future environment. Focusing exclusively on those offices that express in design terms a commitment to such concepts as team-Working, just-in-time Working, virtual and mobile working and those using the newest technological tools and the latest space-planning concepts available. Emphasis is placed on how an office environment can be designed to encourage group working, the sharing of knowledge, a spirit of community within larger organizations, and non-territorial working-employees that work where and how they want supported by cordless technologies.

  • Small business have very different characteristics from large business; notable, small business suffer from resource and capacity poverty. Without knowing the relative importance of limited resources and capacity in small business, it have limited practical contribution to e-business implementation success. This paper develops an exploratory resource-based model of e-business implementation for small business with 42 sample companies. The results show that three types of resource factors; IS/IT vender supports, the level of IS/IT knowledge, and financial support. The implication for research is that the resource-based view of the firm and the test an exploratory framework of resource factors are useful theories to ground future work on e-business implementation in small business.

  • Stathmin 1 is a microtubule destabilizer that plays an important role in cell cycle progression, segregation of chromosomes, clonogenicity, cell motility and survival. Stathmin 1 overexpression has been reported in malignant hematopoietic cells and Stathmin 1 inhibition reduces the highly proliferative potential of leukemia cell lines. However, during the differentiation of primary hematopoietic cells, Stathmin 1 expression decreases in parallel to decreases in the proliferative potential of early hematopoietic progenitors. The scope of the present review is to survey the current knowledge and highlight future perspectives for Stathmin 1 in normal and malignant hematopoiesis, with regard to the expression, function and clinical implications of this protein.

  • With the Korea-China FTA negotiations currently on the line, the importance of research into the FTA dispute settlement system has been increasing. In this paper, a comparison of Korea and China's FTA dispute settlement agreements concluded with ASEAN is contemplated, and implications for the future of the Korea-China FTA have been suggested. The FTA dispute settlement agreements with ASEAN concluded by both Korea and China provide perspectives on both sides. This agreement with ASEAN also provides a standard for the potential Korea-China FTA agreement. Specifically, the basis of these agreements with ASEAN is the same, although there are clear distinctions, described in a more detailed manner. A problem arises when there has been no discussion on dispute settlement agreements in Korea, especially of the agreement with ASEAN, whereas the opposite is true of the China counterpart. In this paper, Chinese academic FTA dispute settlement agreement studies have been also examined.

  • Sheen et al. 2012 reported a high fraction of galaxies with post-merger features in clusters. The fraction is much higher than what analytic calculation predicts based on the fact that subhalos inside galaxy clusters have high relative velocities. In this study, we aim to address the origin of the post-merger features and to draw an implication for the assembly history of the cluster galaxies. We have performed high-resolution hydrodynamic zoom-in simulations on a cluster of ~1015M using the publicly available Adaptive Mesh Refinements (AMR) code, RAMSES. From the simulations, we have constructed mock images of cluster galaxies taking into account age, metallicity, mass of stellar populations and extinction. The mock images enable us to directly compare the simulation result with deep observation data of cluster galaxies. We discuss possible scenarios for the origin of the post-merger features. We also discuss caveats and future perspectives from the study.
