A rectifying heterojunction consisting of polyparaphenylene(PPP) and polypyrrole(PPY) films was prepared by the electrochemical method. The photoresponse in the heterojunction of PPY and PPP is similar to the absorption spectrum of undoped PPP. This fact suggests that photoresponse depends strongly upon polyparaphenylene of semiconductor. The fill-factor was calculated from the photo current-voltage curve to be 0.19, which is relatively small compared to polyacetylene-polythiophene heterojunctions.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the information search behavior in functional sportswear purchasing by clothing and sports concern variables. Functional sportswear means sportswear made of functional clothing materials. The information search behavior in this study included information sources, information seeking attributes, information search differences between when consumers buy functional sportswear and when they purchase nonfunctional sportswear, and information characteristics. For this purpose, 500 questionnaires had been distributed to university students and 409 of which were used in the study. For data analysis, frequency, reliability analysis, factor analysis, and t-test were used. The results were as follows: first, the friends showed to be the most effective information source of functional clothing materials sportswear and internet revealed to be the information source that made the most frequent use of. The experts appeared to be the most reliable information source. Second, the more the students were concerned about clothing and sports, the more important they considered information seeking attributes. Third, in the aspects of information search differences between when consumers bought functional sportswear and when they purchased nonfunctional sportswear, only sports concern variables showed to be significant. The last, regardless of clothing and sports concern variables, it was found that customers considered all the information characteristics important.

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to investigate disability of the patients after stroke, clinical applicability and usefulness of the FIM in evaluating the functional abilities and to assess the characteristics of the patients after stroke. And this study examined difference by predictive factors on the treatment outcome. METHOD The study was composed of 31 stroke patients who were within 1 week after stroke and had been treated in hospital more than 4 weeks. Improving rate was measured by using the Functional Independence Measure(FIM), and the correlation was analyzed between Motor FIM and Cognitive FIM. We analyzed significant meaning statistically in the mean value of FIM. RESULT 1. There was no significant meaning statistically in the mean value of FIM that was between both at admission and after 2 weeks. But there was proportional correlation between both at admission and after 4 weeks, and significant meaning statistically. 2. There was proportional correlation between both FIM and Motor FIM, and significant meaning statistically. But there was no significant meaning statistically between both FIM and Cognitive FIM. 3. There was no significant meaning statistically between both FIM and sex, age, side of weakness, stroke subtype, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, starting point of rehabilitation therapy and past history of cerebral vascular accident. While dysarthria affected functional recovery in stroke patients, and significant meaning statistically. CONCLUSION 1. FIM appeared to be a valid and reliable method to measure the functional abilities of the patients after stroke. 2. Only one thing between Motor FIM and score didn't influence FIM score. 3. Dysarthria affected functional recovery in stroke patients, and it is the statistically significant factor.

The purpose of this study was to explain consumption experience of vitamin/mineral, aloe, calcium, red ginseng and glucosamine. It also explains influencing factors such as health related factors(importance of healthy eating, perceived role of food for health, health motivation), consumer attitude of healthy functional foods(reward from using healthy functional foods, confidence in functional foods) and individual characteristics(age, sex, education, income) on them. To do this, LIMDEP program was applied to estimate the logit model. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The levels of health motivation, reward and confidence from using healthy functional foods were found to be relatively low, while the levels of importance of healthy eating and the perceived role of food for health were found to be relatively high. It might imply that consumers would have some interest for health and food consumption. Also consumers expressed to have some experience for vitamin/mineral(50%), aloe(16%), calcium(23%), red ginseng(40%) and glucosamine(17%). 2) For influencing factors, age was found to be significantly influential to all of the products. If consumers were getting older, they were more likely to consume the products. In addition, reward from using healthy functional foods was found to significantly influence consumption experience of vitamin/mineral and calcium. If consumers perceived more reward from using vitamin/mineral and calcium, they were more likely to consume the products. For aloe, confidence in healthy functional foods was found to significantly influence consumption. Furthermore, sex was found to be a significant factor for consumption of vitamin/mineral.

Ternary blend fibers (TBFs) based on melt blends of PEN, PET, and TLCP were prepared by melt blending and spinning to achieve high performance fibers. The reinforcement effect and the TLCP fibrillar structure resulted in the improvement of mechanical properties for TBFs. Molecular orientation was an important factor in determining the tensile strength and modulus of TBFs. Another part of this research is silica nano-particle filled PEN composites were melt-blended to improve mechanical and physicalproperties, and processability. The tensile modulus and strength were improved adding silica nano-particles to the PEN. The decreased melt viscosity by the fumed silica resulted in the improvement of the processability. The fumed silica may act as a nucleating agent in the PEN matrix.

The rpoS gene product is a global transcriptional factor, which is involved in bacterial survival under various stress conditions. An rpoS-homologous gene was cloned from a septicemia-causing pathogenic Vibrio vulnificus. Introduction of this gene as a multicopy plasmid into various E. coli strains displayed functional complementation, for examples, increased survivability of an rpoS-defective E. coli cell and induction of known $\delta^S$-dependent, stress-responding promoters of E. coli genes.

This article presents Bayesian approach to regression splines with knots on a grid of equally spaced sample quantiles of the independent variables under functional measurement error model.We consider small area model by using penalized splines of non-linear pattern. Specifically, in a basis functions of the regression spline, we use radial basis functions. To fit the model and estimate parameters we suggest a hierarchical Bayesian framework using Markov Chain Monte Carlo methodology. Furthermore, we illustrate the method in an application data. We check the convergence by a potential scale reduction factor and we use the posterior predictive p-value and the mean logarithmic conditional predictive ordinate to compar models.

CTCF, Zinc-finger protein, has been identified as a multifunctional transcription factor that regulates gene expression through various mechanisms, including recruitment of other co-activators and binding to promoter regions of target genes. Furthermore, it has been proposed to be an insulator protein that contributes to the establishment of functional three-dimensional chromatin structures. It can disrupt transcription through blocking the connection between an enhancer and a promoter. Previous studies revealed that the onset of various diseases, including breast cancer, could be attributed to the aberrant expression of CTCF itself or one or more of its target genes. In this review, we will describe molecular dysfunction involving CTCF that induces tumorigenesis and summarize the functional roles of CTCF in breast cancer.

The major objective of this study is provide to basic data for developing of new Sangye-Tang products. The findings from this study are as follow. Consumers over half were thought Samgye-Tang products to be good for health. At the eating place of Samgye-Tang products, \"at home\" ranked high in their groups. Also consumers have eaten Samgye-Tang products for the good of their health. On the developing functional Samgye-Tang products, respondents over 80% showed that it is desirable to develop functional Samgye-Tang products. And it is indicated that consumers want to strengthen the physical stamina in the new Samgye-Tang products. Price is the most important factor in selecting the new Samghye-Tang products. In packaging, consumers have preferred retort pouch.
