A Design of Wide Input Range Multi-mode Rectifier for Wireless Power Transfer System (넓은 입력 범위를 갖는 무선 전력 전송용 다중 모드 정류기 설계)

  • In this paper, a wide-input range CMOS multi-mode rectifier for wireless power transfer system is presented. The output voltage of multi-mode rectifier is sensed by comparator and switches are controlled based on it. The mode of multi-mode rectifier is automatically selected by the switches among full-wave rectifier, 1-stage voltage multiplier and 2-stage voltage multiplier. In full-wave rectifier mode, the rectified output DC voltage ranges from 9 V to 19 V for a input AC voltage from 10 V to 20 V. However, the input-range of the multi-mode rectifier is more improved than that of the conventional full-wave rectifier by 5V, so the rectified output DC voltage ranges from 7.5 V to 19 V for a input AC voltage from 5 V to 20 V. The power conversion efficiency of the multi-mode rectifier is 94 % in full-wave rectifier mode. The proposed multi-mode rectifier is fabricated in a $0.35{\mu}m$ CMOS process with an active area of $2500{\mu}m{\times}1750{\mu}m$.

  • This paper describes the new design technique of full wave rectifier (FWR) for precise measurement instrument and the chip implementation of this FWR circuit with measurement results. Conventional circuits have some problems of complex design and limited output range( $VDD/2{\sim}VLIIV1IT+$). Proposed FWR circuit was simply designed with two 2x1 MUXs, one high speed comparator, and one differential difference amplifier(DDA). One rail-to-rail differential difference amplifier(DDA) performs the DC level shifting to VSS and 2X amplification simultaneously, and enables the full range ($Vss{\sim}VDD$) operation. The proposed FWR circuits shows more than 50% reduction of chip area and power consumption compared to conventional one. Proposed circuit was implemented with 0.35um 1-poly 2-metal CMOS process. Core size is $150um{\times}450um$ and power dissipation is 840uW with 3.3V single supply.

  • In this paper, high efficiency power management IC(PMIC) with DT-CMOS(Dynamic threshold voltage Complementary MOSFET) switching device is presented. PMIC is controlled PWM control method in order to have high power efficiency at high current level. The DT-CMOS switch with low on-resistance is designed to decrease conduction loss. The control parts in Buck converter, that is, PWM control circuit consist of a saw-tooth generator, a band-gap reference(BGR) circuit, an error amplifier, comparator circuit, compensation circuit, and control block. The saw-tooth generator is made to have 1.2MHz oscillation frequency and full range of output swing from supply voltage(3.3V) to ground. The comparator is designed with two stage OP amplifier. And the error amplifier has 70dB DC gain and $64^{\circ}$ phase margin. DC-DC converter, based on current mode PWM control circuits and low on-resistance switching device, achieved the high efficiency nearly 96% at 100mA output current. And Buck converter is designed along LDO in standby mode which fewer than 1mA for high efficiency. Also, this paper proposes two protection circuit in order to ensure the reliability.

  • High accurate and stable 132 kV potential transformers (PTs) including 66 kV & 22 kV PT with stability of less than 0.0033 % for 13 month and with ratio error within $\pm$ 0.024 % at full rated voltage have been developed. The PTs are useful as the reference PT of the PT comparator system in the voltage range of 11 kV to 132 kV PT.

Temperature Dependent Characteristics Analysis of FLL Circuit

  • In this paper, the temperature characteristics of full CMOS FLL(frequency locked loop) re analyzed. The FLL circuit is used to generate an output signal that tracks an input efference signal. The locking time of FLL is short compared to PLL(phase locked loop) circuit because the output signal of FLL is synchronized only in frequency. Also the FLL s designed to allow the circuit to be fully integrated. The FLL circuit is composed two VCs, two buffers, a VCO and two frequency dividers. The temperature variation of frequency divider, FVC and buffer cancelled because the circuit structure. is the same and he temperature effect is cancelled by the comparator. Simulation results are shown to illustrate the performance of the designed FLL circuit with temperature.

  • The 74181 is arithmetic logic units(ALU)/function generator. This circuit performs 16 binary arithmetic operations on two 4-bit words. And a full carry look-ahead scheme is made available in this device. The 74181 can also be utilized as a comparator. This circuit has been also designed to provide 16 possible functions of two Boolean variables without the use of external circuitry. This paper analyzes the function of the logic and the implementation adopted in the design of 74181. The understanding of the logic characteristics of this chip enables us to improve future applications.

  • A new architecture of field programmable gate array for high-speed datapath applications is presented. Its implementation is facilitated by a configurable interconnect technology based on a one-time, two-terminal programmable, very low-impedance anti-fuse and by a configurable logic module optimized for datapath applications. The configurable logic module can effectively implement diverse logic functions including sequential elements such as latches and flip-flops, and arithmetic functions such as one-bit full adder and two-bit comparator. A novel programming architecture is designed for supplying large current through the anti-fuse element, which drops the on-resistance of anti-fuse below $20{\Omega}$. The chip has been fabricated using a $0.8-{\mu}m$ n-well complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology with two layers of metalization.

  • High accurate 20 kA, 6 kA and 2 kA standard current transformers(CTs) with a ratio error within 0.005 % at full rated current have been developed. The CTs are useful as the reference CT of the CT comparator system in the current range of 20 kA to 10 A CT.

The effect of vibratory stimulus on pain perception during intraoral local anesthesia administration in children: a systematic review and meta-analysis

  • Background: To evaluate the effectiveness of vibration as a counter-stimulatory measure in reducing subjective pain due to local anesthesia administration in children. Methods: Electronic databases (PubMed, Ovid SP, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials) were searched until April 2020. Studies were screened by titles and abstracts, followed by full text evaluation of the included studies. Results: A total of seven studies involving 376 children aged 5-17 years were included in the systematic review and meta-analysis. The meta-analysis compared vibration as a counter-stimulatory measure with no vibration as a comparator. The primary outcome evaluated was pain perception or subjective pain reported by the child. The secondary outcome evaluated was objective pain evaluated in each study. The pooled mean difference favored vibration to be effective for the first outcome. Conclusion: Within the limits of this systematic review, low quality evidence suggests that vibration as a counter-stimulatory measure is effective in reducing the subjective pain reported by children during local anesthesia administration.

The Saw-tooth generator is made to have 1.2 MHz oscillation frequency and full range of output swing from ground to supply voltage(VDD:3.3V). The comparator is designed with two stage OP amplifier. And the error amplifier has 70dB DC gain and $64^{\circ}$ phase margin. DC-DC converter, based on Voltage-mode PWM control circuits and low on-resistance switching device, achieved the high efficiency near 95% at 100mA output current. And DC-DC converter is designed with LDO in stand-by mode which fewer than 1mA for high efficiency.
