  • Articulation disorders are characterized by an inability to achieve clear pronunciation due to misuse of the articulators. In this paper, a method of detecting such disorders by comparing to the standard pronunciations is proposed. This method defines the standard pronunciations from the speeches of normal children by clustering them with three features which are the Linear Predictive Cepstral Coefficient (LPCC), the Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC), and the Relative Spectral Analysis Perceptual Linear Prediction (RASTA-PLP). By calculating the distance between the centroid of the standard pronunciation and the inputted pronunciation, disordered speech whose features locates outside the cluster is detected. 89 children (58 of normal children and 31 of children with disorders) were recruited. 35 U-TAP test words were selected and each word's standard pronunciation is made from normal children and compared to each pronunciation of children with disorders. In the experiments, the pronunciations with disorders were successfully distinguished from the standard pronunciations.

  • For labor-intensive sewing industry, productivity could be enhanced with the proper utilization of standard time system. This paper develops a standard data for sewing operations through three stages. The first is to identify the manual motions from sewing operations. The second is to simplify the MTM-1 data considering the frequency and the nature of basic motions occuring in the operations. Finally we synthesize the standard data using the simplified MTM-1 by the film analysis of the actual operations pictured in the field. The standard data developed is shown to be easier and faster with reasonable accuracy in determining the standard time compared to the MTM-1.

  • The standard impact sources, standardized to rate the sound insulation performance of floor structure, should simulate well the real floor impact sources, which is very important to grade the floor structure then to establish counter plan to improve the performance of floor. Recently the tire, the standard heavyweight impact source, has been discussed that the impact force is too big to represent the real impact force. And researches have been carried on the applicability as a substitute or a supplementary. In addition, tapping machine, the standard lightweight impact source, is also questionable if it is representative of real lightweight impact source. This study aims to examine the similarity of standard impact sources with living impact sources, comparing the physical characteristics such as impact force, frequency contents and sound level. The result showed that the physical characteristics of standard impact sounds were somewhat different with that of living impact sounds, and the standard sources couldn't be verified from this result. Later subjective evaluation should be followed to compare how the physical differences make relationship with the subjective differences.

  • We studied on performance improvement of TTM(TI21 Test Meter) that is test and diagnosis devices for jointless audio frequency track circuit on Korean electric railway TI21 standard. Upgraded devices is AD-TTM(Advanced TI21 Test Meter). This can measure alternating frequency USB(Upper signal band) and LSB(Lower signal band). In the audio frequency track circuit, ${\pm}17[Hz]$ of nominal frequency are demodulated and supplied to track relay through AND gate. It is important that measurement function which is error between USB and LSB. Need of AD-TTM will stand out in the electric railway system because this is simple and accurate rather than the former device.

  • High- and multi-frequency acoustic systems can measure a zooplankton patch successively and estimate the spatial distribution and abundance of zooplankton according to size using a multi-frequency inversion (MFI) method. This study measured zooplankton distribution to a depth of 150m using a multi-frequency acoustic system (TAPS-6), installed on a CTD system with a fluorometer and analyzed it using the MFI method. Simultaneously, zooplankton samples were collected by north pacific standard (NORPAC) net to confirm the species composition. The results showed that the combined method is valuable for estimating the zooplankton profile in detail and investigating the relationship between the zooplankton and phytoplankton profiles.

  • This paper presents a 900MHz fractional-N frequency synthesizer for radio frequency identification (RFID) reader using $0.18{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process. The IC meets the EPC Class-1 Generation-2 and ISO-18000 Type-C standards. To minimize VCO pulling, the 900MHz VCO is generated by a 1.8GHz VCO followed by a frequency divider. The settling time of the synthesizer is less than $20{\mu}m$. The frequency synthesizer achieves the phase noise of -105.6dBc/Hz at 200kHz offset. The frequency synthesizer occupies an area of $1.8{\times}0.99mm^2$, and dissipates 8mA from a low supply voltage of 1.8V.

  • This study starts with an investigation of the frequency of allophones from the narrowly transcribed data of (1) most frequently used 2000 words and (2) some passages of standard Seoul Korean. Consequently this entails the investigation of the frequency of phonemes by adding the number of allophones. These two investigations are conducted for the first time in the study of Korean phonology. Previous studies on the reported 'frequency of phoneme' are in fact studies on the 'frequency of letters' and the critical difference between these two types of studies has yet to be clarified accurately. This paper also reveals the proportional distribution of natural classes among Korean phonemes and letters.

  • Since the characteristic frequency is decreased in proportion to the fault distance, the characteristic frequency component may be insufficiently eliminated by a low-pass filter on a long transmission line. In order to set a standard for the cut-off frequency of the low-pass filter, this paper proposes a method for obtaining the characteristic frequencies due to line faults. The application results of the proposed method are presented for line to ground (LG) faults and line to line (LL) faults on a 345 kV 200 km overhead transmission line. The EMTP is used to generate fault signals under different fault locations and fault inception angles. By comparison between the characteristic frequencies obtained from the proposed method and the EMTP simulation, it is shown that the proposed method accurately obtains the characteristic frequency.

  • We compared two typical ensemble time scale algorithms; AT1 and Kalman filter. Four commercial atomic clocks composed of two hydrogen masers and two cesium atomic clocks provided measurement data to the algorithms. The allocation of relative weights to the clocks is important to generate a stable ensemble time. A 30 day-average-weight model, which was obtained from the average Allan variance of each clock, was applied to the AT1 algorithm. For the reduced Kalman filter (Kred) algorithm, we gave the same weights to the two hydrogen masers. We also compared the frequency stabilities of the outcome from the algorithms when the frequency offsets and/or the frequency drift offsets estimated by the algorithms were corrected or not corrected by the KRISS-made primary frequency standard, KRISS-F1. We found that the Kred algorithm is more effective to generate a stable ensemble time scale in the long-term, and the algorithm also generates much enhanced short-term stability when the frequency offset is used for the calculation of the Allan deviation instead of the phase offset.

  • TRL error correction method is widely used for measuring high frequency device mounted on PCB. In order to correct error more precisely, the characteristic impedance of standard transmission line should be known mounted for error correction. The capacitance per the unit length of transmission line is calculated by using standard transmission line which terminate resistor additionally at previous method and the characteristic impedance of standard transmission line is calculated with fitting method according to frequency, but the characteristic impedance extracted by a manufacturing inaccuracy is influenced. In this study, a novel method can reduce the manufacturing inaccuracy using measured s-parameters and can extract more accurate characteristic impedance than the previous method.
