This paper proposes the scattered data interpolation as an efficient method that is designed for free-form surface. Data interpolation is an essential method of designing for various objects. For the generating free-form surface of complexity construction, the existing method had problems to represent flat area and sharp corner edge, in presenting objects with computing the weight of control points. For solving this problem, we proposes the generating method of new approximation surfaces, using scattered data interpolation. This method obtains B-Spline basis function which calculates main curvature, having optimized value in variable area, on given control points and changed objects, and then computes the changing rate the approximating data, using it's value. We also present this method that generates smoother free-form surface, using the scattered data interpolation with minimum weight.

Cutter deflections in the ball-end milling process is one of the main causes of the machining errors on a free-form surface. In order to avoid machining errors in this process, a methodology avoiding these machining errors on the free-form surfaces has been developed. In this method, feedrates in the finish cuts are adjusted for the prevention of machining errors. A model for the prediction of machining errors on the free-form surface is analytically derived as a function of feed and normal vector at the surface of contact point by the cutter. This model is applied to the dertermination of the adjusted feedrates which satisfy the machining tolerance of the surface. In the finish cuts of a simple curved surface, the suggested model is examined by the measurements of the generated machining error on this surface. And also, this surface is machined with the adjusted feedrates for the given machining tolerance. The measured machining errors on this surface are compared with the given tolerance. In this comparisons, it is shown that the predicted errors are fairly good agreement with the test results.
This paper attempts to examine the historical changes, the characteristics and the role of free-standing wall from the viewpoint of architectural composition. After modern times the wall gets free of structure and the view of formative art changes, which become a basis of the conscious use of free-standing wall. It plays a role of getting territoriality and placeness, by defining the space at the external territory and it is used as apparatus which controls circulation and orientation externally At the same time it is used as an instrument to blur the border to make mutual intersection and plays a role of introducing and controling the environment. The free-standing wall controls the architectural form to emphasize plasticity and is used to define a geometrical frame and maintain the urban context. In view of the results so far achieved, the free-standing wall is used as general vocabulary of modulating the border of space and the architectural form since modern architecture.
Purpose: The aim of this study was a comparative analysis of the effect of distance contrast sensitivity when wearing free-form progressive lens and conventional progressive lens. Methods: The 20 subjects who do not have any ocular diseases were participated in this study. Contrast sensitivities at 5 different levels of spatial frequency were conducted by using FACT (Stereo Optical, USA). Results: Contrast sensitivity was measured for free-form progressive lens and conventional progressive lens in the order of right eye, left eye and binocular. Right/left/binocular contrast sensitivity values of the free-form progressive lenses compared to the conventional progressive lenses were higher 16%/17%/11% at A(1.5 cpd) of spatial frequency, 11%/5%/5% at B(3 cpd) of spatial frequency, 6%/6%/9% at C(6 cpd) of spatial frequency, 19%/16%/13% at D(12 cpd) of spatial frequency, 4%/3%/18% at E(18 cpd) of spatial frequency. Conclusions: In all the area of spatial frequency, distance contrast sensitivity values were measured highly on free-form progressive lens than on conventional progressive lens.
We present an algorithm for surface reconstruction from the second-derivative data for free-form aspherics, which uses a subaperture scanning system that measures the local surface profile and determines the three second-derivative values at those local sampling points across the free-form surface. The three second-derivative data were integrated to get a map of x- and y-slopes, which went through a second Southwell integration step to reconstruct the surface profile. A synthetic free-form surface 200 mm in diameter was simulated. The simulation results show that the reconstruction error is 19 nm RMS residual difference. Finally, the sensitivity to noise is diagnosed for second-derivative Gaussian random noise with a signal to noise ratio (SNR) of 16, the simulation results proving that the suggested method is robust to noise.

The outer surfaces of free form buildings contain panels with two-directional curvatures. To construct these panels, complex geometric surfaces should be divided into forms and sizes that can be manufactured and constructed efficiently. Because the bigger the curvatures of these panel, the more expensive the construction costs, these complex curvatures should go through optimal process of reinterpretation to minimize the curved surfaces with complex two-directional curvatures, which is called panel optimization. Small construction and design companies have trouble in calculating even rough estimate and cannot adjust expected construction cost of the panels based on comparison of design alternatives in conjunction with panel optimization process due to lack of knowledge and experience. This study conducts the research that can support designers' cost decision-making in the design stage of the free form buildings with respect to the panel optimization process. A 3D commercial application specialized to modeling free form shapes is used for the purpose.

Demand on free-form buildings is gradually increasing, yet owing to the difficulty of production-installation work, several problems occur in the construction phase upon construction of a building, including the increased cost and construction duration, and reduced constructibility. To solve these problems, a techonology to produce FCP using a CNC(Computerized Numeric Control) machine is developed. The technology is that the information of designed free-form buildings to the CNC machine is transferred, and the transferred information is used for RTM(Rod-Type Mold, the mold shaped by back-up rods) and PCM(Phase Change Material) shaping, and the shaped RTM and PCM have the role of molds to produce FCP. Construction duration and project cost are limited in building sites, so the efficiency of processes like production-installation of FCP for application of the technology is significant. Since it is almost impossible to change the production-installation process at the construction phase when they are established, process should be deliberately decided. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to propose a production-installation simulation model of free-form concrete panels, in aspect of PCM. This paper is establishing the process for production-installation of FCP, estimating time required by each construction type and proposing a time simulation model that changes according to various constraints based on the analyses. With the time simulation model, it will be possible to build a cost model and to review the optimal construction duration and project cost.

Characterizing nicotine delivery from tobacco products is important in the understanding of their addictive potential. Most previous studies report total nicotine and have not differentiated between nicotine in its protonated or free-base form. The amount of free nicotine calculated by determining pH and nicotine contents. The pH and nicotine contents in smokeless tobacco product, tobacco products and tobacco leaves were analyzed by Health Canada-Official Method T-310 and CORESTA Recommended Method $N^{\circ}62$. The content of free nicotine was calculated according to the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation and the value of $\alpha_{fb}$(the fraction of nicotine that is in the free base form) by using a pKa value of 8.02 for nicotine. The percentage of free nicotine then was calculated by dividing the free nicotine content by total nicotine content. The pH value and percentage of free nicotine ranged from 5.01 to 5.45 and $0.10\%\;to\;0.27\%$ in cut tobacco and 5.10 to 7.10 and $0.12\%\;to\;10.73\%$ in tobacco leaves, respectively.
Azotobacter vinelandii cell extracts and its variety of purified fractions with regard to their ability to form the redox state of the Shethna Flavoprotein (free radical form FPH.) were studied. A fluorescent flavoprotein (protein I) and a brown protein (protein II) were the most active proteins which were isolated in purified form. The free radical formation activity was substantially decreased during the purification and was completely lost upon storage in a week under nitrogen in a frozenstate. The presence of free flavin (FMN) with NADH enhanced the rate of free radical formation. The reaction of FMN and NADH was found to be catalysed by various cell fractions. A possible role of FMN as a substrate for free radical shethna flavoprotein was investigated. Slower reaction rate of $FMNH_2+Flavoprotein\;(FP){\to}FPH+FMN$ than $FMN+NADH{\to}FMNH_2$, accumulation of $FMNH_2$ ocurred which subsquently caused FPH.

The objective of this study is to propose closed-form solutions to the free vibration response of single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems, as part of fundamental research on dynamic systems with Coulomb friction. The motion of a dynamic system with Coulomb friction is described by a nonlinear differential equation, and, due to the variation in the sign of friction force term with the direction of motion, it is difficult to obtain the closed-form solution. To solve this problem, the nonlinear differential equation is directly computed by numerical integration, or an approximated solution is indirectly obtained using a linear differential equation wherein the damping effect due to Coulomb friction is replaced by an equivalent viscous damping term. However, these conventional methods do not provide a closed-form solution from a mathematical point of view. In this regard, closed-form solutions to the free vibration response of SDOF systems with Coulomb friction are derived herein by considering that the sign of the friction force term is reversed in each half-cycle of motion and by expanding it to the entire time history using the power series function. In addition, for a given initial condition, both the number of free vibration half-cycles and the response at the instant when free vibration motion stops are predicted under the condition that the motion of free vibration is stopped when the amplitude of the friction force is higher than that of the restoring force due to stiffness.
