In order to analyze principles of taking concoction and make clear the origin of contraindication against five pungent vegetables, the regulations of Guizhitang prescription in "Shanghanlun" the twelfth article and "Wushierbingfang", "Wuweihandaiyijian", "Jinguiyaolue" were researched. Four principles of taking concoction were put in order; strengthening the effect of concoction by eating hot rice gruel and wearing bedclothes, preventing decline of drug effect by food regulations, optimization of elution and effect of material herbs by crushing, low heating, determination of administration time based on manifestations of drug effect by sweating and its aspect. These principles and methods of taking concoctions were developed from boiling to simple processing of material herbs, contraindication in the middle of taking concoction and perspiration by wearing bedclothes and eating hot rice gruel in order from the analysis of medical literatures. The contraindication against pungent vegetables were generalized in early Dong-Han dynasty already, and the five pungent vegetables were inferred as Allium tuberosum, Allium bakeri regel, spring onion, wild rocambole and garlic in medical context to the exclusion of religious idea. The reason of prohibition against five pungent vegetables could be interpreted as optimization of therapeutic effects by pharmacological control of pungent ingredients because the healthy qi damage and evil qi retention were resulted from destroying of harmonious ying and wei by overeating pungent vegetables during disease state. Conclusively the regulations of Guizhitang prescription referred to taking concoction in "Shanghanlun" fulfilled their functions to maximize pharmacological effects through various ways inside and outside and these reasonal principles of taking concoction has been influenced over the traditional medical practice deeply.

This study aims to suggest a desirable dietary methods based on the oriental medicated dietary effects based on the schema of four qi and five flavors of foods originated from the yin-yang and five phase theory through clear understanding of the theory of oriental medicated dietary in a modern point of view, and through experimental analysis on the nutrient and dietary effect of 4 medicinal plants. We expect it can show us the way for promoting more healthy life styles and for preventing adult diseases by following our own medicated dietary theory. We should develop our own culinary and dietary culture which is suitable for our physical and genetic conditions for our healthy and happy lives. To successfully develop and introduce them, we should analyze their dietary effects scientifically based on both the theory of nutrialogy and the oriental medicated dietary in a modern point of view.

Background: Liu-Yuan-Lei(陸淵雷) said that a medical record is both the marks of treatments and arts made by a excellent practitioner and the essence of TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine). Jiang-Guan(江瓘) also said that reading medical records is one of the best way to develop one’s abilities If curing a disease without perfect clinical practice. Objectives: study on the special treatment about metrostaxis(崩漏) based on the Yi-Da-Gan(易大艮)’s medical records. and study on the differentiation of abnormal symptoms and signs about cold syndrome with pesudo-heat(眞寒假熱) based on the Yu-Chang(喩昌)'s medical records. Methods: First, read and study the medical records on metrostaxis(崩漏) of that made a profound study by Yi-Da-Gan(易大艮) and cold syndrome with pesudo-heat(眞寒假熱) of that made a profound study by Yu-Chang(喩昌). The next, write a paper on results and conclusions. Results and Conclusions: First, Yi-Da-Gan(易大艮) insist that must control the Qi under the blood disease conditions, taking the case of metrostaxis(崩漏). Secondly, we must study more on estimating the changing condition of Qi and the blood as time goes by, also study on the pulse and pulse condition in the four seasons(四時脈). Thirdly, Yu-Chang(喩昌) insist that be more careful in differentiation of symptoms and signs, taking the case of cold syndrome with pesudo-heat(眞寒假熱). Fourthly, Yu-Chang(喩昌) give an example that in condition of cold syndrome with pesudo-heat(眞寒假熱), sometimes, the pulse and pulse condition can be strong.

Objectives : Neurosis, psychosomatic disease from which most of out-patients suffer originated marital problem in clinical setting, In Oriental medicine, concept and clinical cases of the couple therapy is insufficient. So we suggest the theoretical background and evidence of oriental medical approach. Methods : We searched the theoretical perspectives of recent couple therapy and suggested the psychotherapy with couples in oriental medicine and its clinical utilization. Results : 1. Advantages of the couple therapy in oriental medicine were easy to relationship and emotional communication. because oriental medicine were available to approach of symptom pattern about somatic symptom due to marital problem. 2. Oriental medical therapy, for example, acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, herbal medicine, etc. connects doctors and the patients easily, unlike dialogue-centered western psychotherapy. 3. The Ii-Gyeung-Byun-Qi Therapy(移精變氣療法) resolve the marital suppressed feeling easily, Gi-Un-Go-Roen Therapy (至言高論療法) is useful in four principle-marital role, communication, sex life, theory of Hwa-Byung. 4. The principle of 'sorrow restraints anger(悲勝怒)' and 'pleasure restraints sorrow(喜勝悲)' in Oh-Ji-Sang-Seung Therapy(五志相勝療法) accords with forgiveness and recovery that is ultimate goal of the couple therapy. Conclusions : Except existing therapy for recovery of marital relation, We suggest the somatic symptom centered approach based on mind and body unification in oriental medicine. This principle would bring the benefit from the marital to familial relation. From now on, we should correct the theory, need the theorical systematization. Then we should develop the program for recovery of marital relation and examine the hypothesis.

Broadband metal-dielectric-metal terahertz filters composed of complementary rings are designed and demonstrated. Four samples with different parameters were fabricated. Results measured using THz time-domain spectroscopy system show excellent agreement with simulations. Compared with the broadband filters reported before, the complementary ring structure in our design is insensitive to any polarization at normal incidence due to symmetry of the ring. Furthermore, the influence of structure parameters (such as period, radius, slot width, thickness and incidence angles) on the transmission characteristics has been investigated theoretically. The encouraging results afforded by designing of the filters could find applications in broadband sensors, terahertz communication systems, and other emerging terahertz technologies.

In this paper, two classes of functions, involving a parameter and the classical Euler gamma function, and two functions, involving the classical Euler gamma function, are verified to be logarithmically completely monotonic in $(-\frac{1}{2},\infty)$ or $(0,\infty)$; some inequalities involving the classical Euler gamma function are deduced and compared with those originating from certain problems of traffic flow, due to J. Wendel and A. Laforgia, and relating to the well known Stirling's formula.

In oriental medicine, diagnostic method was the four examination(四診) which was composed of inspection(望診), inquiring(問診), listening and smelling(聞診), palpation(切診). Inspection of skin color(望色) indicated the observation of patient's complexion(色診). In oriental medical theory, complexion of face was related to meridians(經絡) and zang-fu(贓腑). The change of complexion was reflected the ups and downs of qi(氣) and blood(血), the relative seriousness of an illness. especially, observation of complexion was essential in children, because of diagnostic difficulty and positive change according to each disease. The purpose of this study was to construct for standard measurement and invent for computerizing diagnostic system which was based on observation of complexion. It was objectively measured complexion using spectrophotometer and chroma meter. Measurement of complexion should make an offer the index of diagnosis.

The design of a scramjet inlet is a process to search global optimization results among those factors influencing the geometry of scramjet in their ranges for some requirements. An optimization algorithm of hybrid genetic algorithm based on genetic algorithm and simplex algorithm was established for this purpose. With the sample provided by a uniform method, the compressive angles which also are wedge angles of the inlet were chosen as the inlet design variables, and the drag coefficient, total pressure recovery coefficient, pressure rising ratio and the combination of these three variables are designed specifically as different optimization objects. The contrasts of these four optimization results show that the hybrid genetic algorithm developed in this paper can capably implement the optimization process effectively for the inlet design and demonstrate some good adaptability.

Objectives: To investigate validity and effectiveness of Saam five element acupuncture treatment in psychological problems. Methods: We selected a Korean medicine doctor known to apply Saam five element acupuncture treatment to the psychiatry field. An investigator visited the doctor's clinic to observe the cases and interview patients. Duration of each interview was 30 minutes to one hour. A semi-structured questionnaire was used for in-depth interviews. All interviews were recorded and converted into texts. Converted texts were then summarized and analyzed qualitatively. Results and Discussion: Treatment process of Saam five element acupuncture designed for psychiatric use is divided into four stages: qi transformation (氣化), acupuncture treatment, deep breathing, and acupressure. In the first stage, patients are asked to express their feelings and emotions in a physical sense; to imagine their feelings have colors, weight, and physical form, and to describe those characteristics. Next, the doctor evaluates each patient's qi according to the six qi (六氣), and then determines protocol of Saam five element acupuncture treatment. This treatment is focused on suffering of the patient and specific symptoms or emotions. The treatment duration is brief and changes in symptoms are frequently checked during treatment sessions. Without discussing details of stressful events, the doctor enables patients to express physical aspects of their feelings. He also provides them with psychoeducational resources. As a result, patients experienced immediate changes in body sensation, emotions and thinking, decreased response to triggers, and increased self-control after treatment. Conclusions: The Saam five element acupuncture treatment has the potential to be used as a treatment for psychiatric disorders. Treatment can be effective in managing psychiatric disorders when applied by primary Korean medicine clinics.

The diversity of culturable non-actinobacterial (NA) bacteria associated with four species of South China Sea gorgonians was investigated using culture-dependent methods followed by analysis of the bacterial 16S rDNA sequence. A total of 76 bacterial isolates were recovered and identified, which belonged to 21 species of 7 genera, and Bacillus was the most diverse genus. Fifty-one percent of the 76 isolates displayed antibacterial activities, and most of them belonged to the Bacillus genus. From the culture broth of gorgonian-associated Bacillus methylotrophicus SCSGAB0092 isolated from gorgonian Melitodes squamata, 11 antimicrobial lipopeptides including seven surfactins and four iturins were obtained. These results imply that Bacillus strains associated with gorgonians play roles in coral defense mechanisms through producing antimicrobial substances. This study, for the first time, compares the diversity of culturable NA bacterial communities among four species of South China Sea gorgonians and investigates the secondary metabolites of gorgonian-associated B. methylotrophicus SCSGAB0092.
