The Effect of Preschool Teachers Creativity on Creativity-fostering Teaching: Focusing on Mediating Effect of Teaching Efficacy (유아교사의 창의성이 창의적 교수 행동에 미치는 영향: 교수효능감의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • Objective: This study investigated the relationship between preschool teachers' creativity, teaching efficacy, and creativity-fostering teaching and examined the mediating effect of teaching efficacy. Methods: A total of 202 preschool teachers participated in this study. The Creative Behavior Inventory (CBI), Teaching Efficacy Scale, and the Creativity-Fostering Teacher Behavior Index (CFTI) were used for the survey. A hypothesized model and alternative model were tested using structural equation modeling. Collected data were analyzed using 18.0 PSAW and AMOS. Results: The results showed that preschool teachers' creativity was positively associated with their teaching efficacy and creativity fostering teaching. Preschool teacher's teaching efficacy positively related to their creativity fostering teaching. Preschool teachers' creativity had a significant positive direct effect on creativity-fostering teaching and also an indirect effect on creativity-fostering teaching via teaching efficacy. Conclusion/Implications: Implications to foster creativity in preschool and kindergarten are discussed, highlighting the necessity for teacher education to promote teaching efficacy as well as teacher's creativity and creativity-related activities.

What Makes Korea-Israel Science Teachers Inservice Program for Fostering Learners' Creativity Effective? (창의성 계발 과학교육을 위한 한국 - 이스라엘 과학교사 연수프로그램의 효율성)

  • The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Korea-Israel science teachers inservice program. Thirty science teachers who participated in the inservice program responded to pre- and post tests of the survey instrument on (a) their perceptions to creativity fostering science education and understandings of current education status and reform movement, (b) degrees of changes about understanding of creativity and implementing teaching methods for fostering creativity before and after the program, and (c) their evaluative opinions on the program. Suggestions for improving the program were proposed as follows: First, a pre-service workshop for the program should be provided in order to clearly realize the essential purpose of the program through increase of participating teachers' understanding of facing conditions of education, school policy, reform movement toward science education fostering creativity. Second, for the content of the program, creativity is more emphasized. Appropriate content and sufficient time arrangement for creativity will develop teachers' conceptual understanding of creativity in depth. Third, classroom observation of exemplary science teaching for fostering creativity should be sufficiently arranged. Fourth, amount of content and time allotment to Israel culture, religion, and education system should be reduced.

The analysis of mathematics teachers' teaching behavior for fostering creativity (초.중등학교 수학교사의 창의성 신장 교수 행동에 대한 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to draw implication for the teacher education program in association with creativity through analysing teaching behavior for fostering creativity of the mathematics teachers at the primary and secondary schools. In order to do so, a survey was performed by sampling primary, middle, and high school teachers. According to the results, there is significant difference in teachers' behavior for fostering creativity in the perspective of school classification (primary and secondary school), but not gender, region, and career of teachers. In other words, there is significant difference in teaching behaviors for fostering creativity between primary and secondary school teachers, herein the score of teaching behavior of former is higher than latter. Furthermore, the result of teachers' recognition survey on the possibility of fostering students' creativity via education shows that the teachers of primary schools are more relatively positive than those of secondary schools on the matter.

The Longitudinal Effect of the Creative-Fostering Program for Pre-early childhood Teacher on their Problem Solving Ability and Self-Efficacy (예비유아교사를 위한 창의성교육 프로그램이 문제해결능력 및 자기효능감에 미치는 영향에 대한 단기종단연구)

  • The aim of this study was to examine the short-term longitudinal effect of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy. The participants of this study were 67 pre-early childhood teachers (36 from the experimental group and 31 from the control group) in Seoul, Kyunggi-do, and Chungcheong-do, Korea. Pre-early childhood teachers' problem solving ability and self-efficacy was measured three times. Data were analyzed with a $2{\times}3$ ($group{\times}test$) two-way analysis of variance for repeated measures. The change in problem solving and self-efficacy appeared to be dependent on the group and test. Further statistical analysis of the data indicated that the participation of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers was longitudinally effective on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy.

  • Enhancing individual competitiveness as well as national competitiveness by fostering creative human resources are one of the important visions of the nation. Thus, fostering creative human resources should be important mission of the nation. The purpose of this study is to identify what type of creative human resources is possible, based on Korean culture and background. Qualitative research experts was given to six experts of academics, institutes, and industries in science, humanities, social science, and art. The result indicated that key words for fostering creative human resources in Korea are 'fusion' and 'integration', and the definition and factors of creative human resources as well as educational strategy to foster it depend upon them. How to foster creative human resources in life-long learning also discussed.

A Study on Practical Method to Enhancing the Creativity Effectiveness for Media Contents Education by Using Artificial Intelligence and Metaverse

  • We studied to aim for exploring practical approaches to enhance the effectiveness of creativity education by using artificial intelligence and the metaverse in the field of media contents. Recognizing the need for educational innovation to adapt to the accelerating changes driven by the advancements in artificial intelligence and the metaverse, and considering the increasing importance of fostering creativity as a key competitive advantage for future talents, we focused on research implementing creativity education in the media contents domain. To achieve this, we conducted this study during a semester-long media contents course utilizing artificial intelligence and the metaverse in real classroom setting. We involved in this study collecting feedback and opinions from students to investigate and identify effective strategies for enhancing the impact of creativity education. As a result, we proposed the utility of media contents class using artificial intelligence and the metaverse in enhancing students' creativity. By elucidating which teaching methods are most effective, we contributed to derive beneficial outcomes for media contents creative education.

College of Engineering Students' Perception on Creativity Education (공과대학 학생들의 창의성교육에 관한 인식)

  • There have been various educational approaches to foster students' creativity in engineering colleges, but little has been conducted based on empirical study results of students' perception on creativity education. This study aims to explore the students' perception on creativity in engineering such as characteristics of creative engineers, the level of individual or group creativity and creative education in engineering colleges. According to the survey results of 538 respondents, engineering students considered three factors such as 'innovative driven', 'eager for high intellectuality', 'activity expression' as characteristics of creative engineer. They evaluated both of individual or group creativity levels as subnormal. They perceived the importance of creativity education, but were not satisfied with current creativity educational experiences. They pointed out 'limited supports of nation or organization', 'credit system decided by the paper-based exam', 'non-systematized creativity classes' as impending factors for creativity in engineering education. Students suggested 'securing the budget for practice and field participation', 'changing of perception on creativity education itself', 'developing the creativity classes combined with engineering subjects' as fostering factors in creativity education. This studdy suggests several implications of educational approaches to creativity education in engineering colleges.

  • The digital informational era of the 21st century requires the fostering of human resource in the field of software with creativity and personality. This paper deals with the educating method in programming course for non-majors which fosters creativity for problem solving ability and personality using cooperative interaction to build communication ability. We also seek to build a model through DEVS methodology for creative problem solving and analyze the effects of programming education for the cultivation of creativity and personality. Our proposed model is expected to be used as a guide to establish creativity and personality for human resource cultivation in programming education.

Psychological capital to foster employee creativity in nanotechnology companies: the mediating role of JS and CSR

  • This research aims to explore factors influencing creativity among the employees of nanotechnology companies. Further, this survey aimed to investigate the role of psychological capital (PS), job satisfaction (JS) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) as sources to foster creativity. Participants included 375 employees of nanotechnology companies in China. Sequential mediation analysis revealed that creativity was significantly influenced by psychological capital, job satisfaction and corporate social responsibility. Furthermore, not only psychological capital, job satisfaction and corporate social responsibility were directly and indirectly related to creativity but also explained 67.35% variance of it. It seems that having more psychological resources, more well-being and good feelings concerning performance in the workspace and the efforts of companies to improve employee welfare are among the most important factors in increasing employee creativity. Our findings can help companies, especially nontechnology companies, in focusing on factors fostering the creativity of employees, because creativity enhances and promotes the performance and success of companies.

  • Open-ended problems can foster deeper understanding of mathematical ideas, generating creative thinking and communication in students. High-order thinking tasks such as open-ended problems involve more ambiguity and higher level of personal risks for students than they are normally exposed to in routine problems. To explore the classroom-based factors that could support or inhibit such higher-order processes, this paper also describes two cases of Singapore primary school teachers who have successfully or unsuccessfully implemented an open-ended problem in their mathematics lessons.
