To operate a flexible mechanism in high speed its weight must be reduced as far as the structural strength does not decrease too much, but a light-weighted mechanism causes undesirable elastodynamic responses deteriorating the system performance. Besides, clearance within the connections of mechanisms causes rapid wear, increased noise and vibration. Even if the problems described above must be considered in the initial design stage, there has been no effective design process which takes account of the correlation between dynamic characteristics of flexible mechanism and the clearance effect at the joint. In this study, the generalized elastodynamic governing equations which include dynamic characteristics and boundary conditions of flexible mechanism are derived by variational calculus and solved by using FFM theory. To take the clearance effect at joint into account a new dynamic model is presented and also the method of modified stiffness/damping matrix is proposed to activate the dynamic clearance model, which cooperates with the developed governing equation very easily. As the results of this study, the proposed method(modified stiffness/damping matrix) to calculate clearance effect was proved to be superior to the existing one(force reaction method) in solution convergency and calculation performance. Besides this method can be easily adopted to the complex shape joint without calculation of reaction force direction.
The characteristics of vibration and noise of a compressor used for electric appliances have significant influence on the quality of the products. For improvement on the quality of electric appliances, investigations for understanding the dynamic behaviour of the compressor are essential. Since Virtual Lab for the dynamics model and MAXWELL for the electromagnetics model are separate software programs with no interface, the joint simulation of the models could not be performed. This study suggests a way to develop the compressor model capable of the joint simulation with MATLAB/SIMULINK linking a flexible multi-body dynamics model, a torque model, and an electricity control model. The compressor model is found to be able to perform I/O data transfer among the sub-models and joint simulation. The simulation results of the flexible body and rigid body dynamics models were compared to check availability of the joint simulation system. In addition, the simulated vibration and driving torque of the compressor mechanisms were compared with measurements. Through the simulations, the influence of springs and LDT on the dynamic behaviour of the compressor was examined. This study examines the influence of the dynamic behaviour of the compressor mechanisms through joint simulation of the flexible multi-body dynamics model and electromagnetic circuit allows analysis.
Output feedback passivation problem is studied when the given system is not minimum-phase or does not have relative degree one. Using a parallel connection with an additional dynamics, the authors provide a dynamic output feedback control law which renders the composite system passive. Sufficient conditions are presented under which the composite system is output feedback passive. As an application of the dynamic passivation scheme, a point-to-point control law for a flexible joint robot is presented when only the position measurements are available. This provides an alternative way of replacing the role of the velocity measurements for the proportional-derivative (PD) feedback law. The performance of the proposed control law is illustrated in the simulation studies of a manipulator with three revolute elastic joints.
This paper presents a robust position tracking controller for motor-driven flexible joint manipulators using only the motor angle measurement. The control problem is not easy because the link position is hard to estimate in the presence of parameter uncertainties. The proposed controller consists of a feedback linearization controller (FLC) and two proportional-integral observers (PIOs) that estimate both system states including the link position and an equivalent disturbance for compensating the parameter uncertainties. Comparative computer simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.

A new robust control law is proposed for uncertain rigid robots and two composite robust control laws for flexible-joint manipulators which contain uncertainties. The uncertainty, is nonlinear and (possibly fast) time-varying. Therefore, the uncertain factors such as imperfect modeling, function, payload change, and external disturbances are all addressed. Based only on the possible bound of the uncertainty, a robust controller is constructed for the rigid counterpart of the flexible-joint robot Some feedback control terms are then added to the robust control law to stabilize the elastic vibrations at the joints. To show that the proposed composite robust control laws are indeed applicable to flexible-joint robots, a singular perturbation approach and the stability study based on Lyapunov function are proposed.
This paper presents a GA-fuzzy $P^2ID$ control system for the flexible-joint robot arm. This controller is designed based on the parameter adjustment using fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms. According to the simulations, the better performance has been achieved acquired that the robot moved smoothly and met its required objectives. The results of comparison between 8 parameters and 10 parameters can be conclusion that the 10 parameters have setting time little than 8 parameters. In usability can be use 8 or 10 parameters these one.
This paper proposes a stable adaptive neural network control(NNC) for fixable joint manipulators. For designing the stable adaptive NNC, the flexible system dynamics is separated into fast and slow subdynamics according to singular perturbation concept. For the slow subdynamics, an adaptive NNC is designed to warrant the system stability and NN learning by lyapunov stability criterion. And to stabilize the fast dynamics, derivative control loop is installed. Through numerical simulation, the performance of the proposed NNC was compared to that of an adaptive controller designed based on the knowledge of the system dynamics. The proposed NNC shows much improvement over the conventional adaptive controller.

This paper is devoted to investigating direct adaptive neural control of nonlinear systems with uncertain or unknown dynamic models. In the direct adaptive neural networks control area, theoretical issues of the existing backpropagation-based adaptive neural networks control schemes. The major contribution is proposing the variable index control approach, which is of great significance in the control field, and applying it to derive new stable robust adaptive neural network control schemes. This new schemes possess inherent robustness to system model uncertainty, which is not required to satisfy any matching condition. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed leaning algorithms and direct adaptive neural networks control schemes, intensive computer simulations were conducted based on the flexible joint robot systems and functions.
The tracking control problem of a flexible manipulator with a prismatic joint along a given path is discussed. The nondimensionalization of the elastic part of the manipulator makes it possible to model such a flexible manipulator. For a discontinuous velocity trajectory, an optimal control theory has been applied to formulate the problem. The optimal scheme is given to find the input commands(e.g., joint torques) necessary to produce a, specified end effector motion. Simulated results show the potential use of this scheme for a discontinuous velocity trajectory control.
