The performance evaluation for H2 reforming of the plate type hydrogen generation system (평판형 수소생산시스템의 수소개질 성능평가)

  • Hydrogen energy, a field of low-carbon substitute energy, can be produced by fossile fuel reforming and electrolysis of water etc. We developed 1kW class flat type reformer for PEM Fuel Cells. The PEMFC is highly sensitive to carbon monoxide because CO has detrimental effects on the performance of the fuel cell. Thus, reformed gas supplied to Fuel cell system, which maintained CO concentration below 10ppm. After applying optimum drive condition, reformed gas was measured with gas chromatography and could find out about each experimental condition of $H_2$ and CO concentration. As a results, The 1kW class plate type hydrogen generation system's optimum condition is A/F ratio ${\alpha}=1.3$, STR temperature 1023K, S/C ratio 3, and $PrOx1{\cdot}2$ 30cc/min. It turns out that installation of PrOx 2 stage is more efficient for reducing CO concentration.

  • Ship are a box-shaped structure. It is used often fore and aft parts, bilge strake, deck with camber of ship structures. When this structure is compared with flat plate structure, it different to behaviour. Generally, if it subjected to axial compressive load, ultimate strength depend on the change of curvature. Also, In this paper, stiffened curved plate with 1/2+1+1/2 bay model subjected to compressive load carried out the elasto-plastic large deflection series analysis. and parameter effect considered slender ratio, web height/thickness as well as change of curvature and investigated collapse mode for analysis model.

  • Flat plate system has many advantages, story height reduction, a term of works shortening and changeableness of space, etc. However structures become a tendency of higher stories and when we use RC column, the size of column grow larger. For this reason the use of CFT column is increasing more and more. Accordingly, this study carried out the nonlinear finite element analysis. As a result of analysis moment strength of the connection increased but ductility decreased as the top reinforcement ratio in th effective width increased. And moment strength and ductility of the connection decreased as gravity load ratio decreased. In the case that shearhead length is not more than 0.27m, the effectiveness of shearhead length on the moment strength and ductility of the connection were small relatively to other variables. Initial stiffness and moment strength of connection increased as slab thickness increased

  • The object of this study is to investigate the penetration characteristics according to the change of stacking sequences and curvature radius in the composite laminated shell. They are staked to [02/902]S and [0/902/0]s, their interlaminar number are two and four. We are manufactured to composite laminated shells with various curvature radius. Curvature radius of composite shell is 100, 150, 200mm and ${\infty}$(it's meaning flat-plate). In general, kinetic energy after impact-kinetic energy before impact increased linearly in all specimens. Absorbed energy increased linearly as the curvature increased, and absorbed energy of [02/902]S specimen, which is small interlaminar number, was higher than [0/902/0]s specimen.

  • As a part of a research program to study the shear reinforcement of flat plate system, this investigation aimed to determine the effect of shear reinforcement type on punching shear strength of monolithic slab-column connection. A total of 5 specimens were fabrication and tested. The dimension of the slab were $2.63{\ast}2.725{\ast}0.18m$, with a centrally located column $0.6{\ast}0.8m$ in cross section. Experimental results showed that the CFS shear reinforcement was not effective because of lack of proper bond with concrete. 3 shear reinforcement except of CFS showed high effectiveness, which resulted in a considerable increment of the punching shear resistance of the connection.

  • Augmentation of CHF by ultrasonic vibration in water pool is experimentally investigated under pool boiling condition. The experiments are carried out using copper coated plates and distilled water. Measurements of CHF on flat plate heated surface were made with and without ultrasonic wave and with variations in inclined angle of the surface and water subcooling. Experimental apparatus consists of a bath, power supply, test section, ultrasonic generator, and data acquisition system. The measurements show that ultrasonic wave enhances CHF and its extent is dependent upon inclination angle as well as water subcooling. The rate of increase in CHF increases with an increase in water subcooling while it decreases with an increase in inclination angle. Visual observation shows that the cause of CHF augmentation is closely related with the dynamic behavior of bubble generation and departure in acoustic field.

  • Geometric nonlinear performance simulation and analysis of complex modern buildings and industrial products require high-performance shell elements. Balancing multiple aspects of performance in the one geometric nonlinear analysis element remains challenging. We present a new shell element, flat shell DKMGQ-CR (Co-rotational Discrete Kirchhoff-Mindlin Generalized Conforming Quadrilateral), for linear and geometric nonlinear analysis of both thick and thin shells. The DKMGQ-CR shell element was developed by combining the advantages of high-performance membrane and plate elements in a unified coordinate system and introducing the co-rotational formulation to adapt to large deformation analysis. The effectiveness of linear and geometric nonlinear analysis by DKMGQ-CR is verified through the tests of several classical numerical benchmarks. The computational results show that the proposed new element adapts to mesh distortion and effectively alleviates shear and membrane locking problems in linear and geometric nonlinear analysis. Furthermore, the DKMGQ-CR demonstrates high performance in analyzing thick and thin shells. The proposed element DKMGQ-CR is expected to provide an accurate, efficient, and convenient tool for the geometric nonlinear analysis of shells.

  • Adhesion of a hemispherical tip to the flat surface in nano-structures is simulated using the molecular dynamics technique. The tip and plates are modeled with the Lennard-Jones molecules. The simulation focuses on the deformation of the tip. Detailed descriptions on the evolution of interaction force, the energy dissipation due to adhesion hysteresis, the forma- tion-growth-breakage of adhesive junction as well as the evolution of molecular distribution during the process are presented. The effects of the tip size, the maximum tip approach, the tip temperature, and the affinity between the tip and the mating plate are also discussed.

  • Solar energy is one of the most promising energy resources in the future. For the application and dissemination of solar energy technologies in various fields, reliable data sets of solar irradiation are needed for engineers, researchers, businessmen, and policy makers. Global horizontal solar radiation is needed for the use of flat plate collector, solar domestic hot water system, photovoltaic devices and passive systems like green house. In many countries, solar radiation data accumulated for more then 40 or 50 years and typical weather data are published with average of more then 30 years. In Korea, those global total radiations are measured for about 30 years. With the connections of computer network, measured data could be transmitted to the central control system at key station through Ethernet lines. The data acquisition systems are connected to be automatically controlled by the monitoring network. Global horizontal solar radiation data 16 locations were measured and averaged from 1982 to 2008.

  • In the solar heat collection system, we can determine how the collector will perform under specific conditions from the efficiency curve. By understanding the basic principles which govern the operation, designers can maximize the output from the collector. Absorptance, transmission and the total heat transfer coefficient were introduced to induce this efficiency curve. Designers who can make use of the implicit information on the curve in this report will generate systems which obtain the best return from their client's investment.
