  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediation effect of the job efficacy on the relationship between job stress and career resilience of fire fighting officers. The participants of this study were 151 Jeju Island local fire fighting officers. The research tools used were job stress scale, career resilience scale and job efficacy scale. The data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. Pearson's correlation analysis, hierarchical multiple regression analysis and the Sobel test were conducted. The results of this study are as follows: First, there was a significant negative correlation between the job stress and the career resilience and between the job stress and the job efficacy, while there was a significant positive correlation between the job efficacy and the career resilience. Second, the job efficacy of fire fighting officers was found to have a perfect mediation effect on the job stress and the career resilience. As a result, it was found that job efficiency as a mediator to cope with job stress can improve the work efficiency by improving the career resilience of fire fighting officers. Finally, the discussion and implication are provided based on the results.

  • In addition to aging social problem, the problem of older age structure ratio in the fire service organization playing the leading role of the disaster response activities is also expected to be this serious situation. In the case of Seoul fire fighting organization, it is expected that the ratio of over the age 50 reaches 31% or 40% between from 10 to 15 years later from now on, but this will be a serious problem in the fire fighting personnel needing a healthy body and physical strength in the disaster situation unlike the civil servants of general staff. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to take measures that can adapt to a new disaster environment of Increasing proportion of the elderly population by presenting the criteria of age limit of fire fighting field activities to analyze the relevance of the ability to perform on-site activities and age of Seoul fire civil servants, by using three analysis criteria.

  • This study aimed to examine the relations between organizational fairness and organizational effectiveness in fire-fighting organizations, and provide basic data for higher organizational effectiveness. The subjects of the study were fire-fighting officers under the Jeollanamdo Fire Service and were interviewed with the use of questionnaire from April 3 through 13, 2016. 433 copies of the responses were analysed with the use of SPSS ver. 18.0 for Window. The results are presented as follows: Distributive justice and interaction justice had a positive effect on job satisfaction, and procedure justice and distributive justice had a positive effect on organizational commitment. Distributive justice and interaction justice had a negative effect on turnover intention.

  • In our country, a number of fire outbreaking had been increased suddenly for 20 years from beginning of 1980's to 2001. That was related with the focus of economic policy, the rapid increasing of fire fighting objects, the change of life environment, and the increasement of usage of energy. Accordingly, we tried to enforce the function of feedback effect of fire prevention policies with analysing the trends of fire occurring from 1950's to 2006 and the correct statistical analysis.

  • Fire scene is mostly destroyed by the flames but fire fighter's fire suppression and rescue activities also destroys a substantail portion. Structures and furnitures which has already become weaken can be easily damaged. Or when structures built up by moving to another location, it's very hard to restore the original state. Also if it is restored, the object has no evidence that it has existed. In all scenes, the scene can't be preserved when quick extinguishment, rescue activities and preventation of fire spread is needed. On this paper, it reviewed the notes about the possibility of field damage by fire suppression and rescue squad's activities. Also it has reviewed the notes how to minimize the field damage by putting out fires and rescue activities by observing the precautions. The reviewed information will help to make guidelines for preserving the scene. By this, it is expected to make a field study exactly by collecting more valid evidence.

  • In order to evaluate the performance of fire-fighting agents used to protect structures from heat and fire damages, the thermal characteristics of fire-protection foams are experimentally investigated. The current research focuses on the destruction of a fire-fighting foam subjected to heat radiation. A simple repeatable test for fire-protection foams subjected to fire radiation is developed. This test involves foam generation equipment, a fire source for heat generation, repeatable test procedures, and data acquisition techniques. Results of the experimental procedure indicated that each thermocouple within the foam responded in a similar manner and gradually to a temperature of $15^{\circ}C{\sim}20^{\circ}C$. At this point, each trace generally rises to a temperature of approximately $90^{\circ}C$. The temperature gradient in the foam as time passes increases with increased foam expansion ratio. In addition, it is determined that the temperature gradient along the foam for depth decreases with increased foam expansion ratio.

  • This study is intended to figure out the effects of supervisors' transformational leadership on organizational culture and innovation in the fire fighting organization. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to fire officers from the National Emergency Management Agency and Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters. The results are as follows. First, the effect of supervisors' transformational leadership on organizational culture showed that supervisors' transformational leadership had an effect on group culture, norm culture and rational culture by sub-factors of organizational culture in the fire fighting organization. Second, the effect of organizational culture on organizational innovation showed that group culture and rational culture had an effect on organizational innovation. Third, the effect of supervisors' transformational leadership on organizational innovation showed that supervisors' transformational leadership had an effect on organizational innovation. As for findings stated above, supervisors' transformational leadership had positive effects on organizational culture and innovation in the fire fighting organization. Consequently, supervisors' energetic and change-seeking leader-ship for junior staffs with existing organization-and new generation-oriented new thinking system can contribute to rational culture and development-oriented innovation based on norms in the group.

  • Due to urbanization and industrialization, the importance of large-scale fire prevention, management and measures is increasing day by day. However, the fire site arrival rate in Golden Time, which is a factor that can minimize large-scale fire damage, of Pohang, a large city with a population of over 500,000, is relatively low. So additional fire fighting power deployment and infrastructure investment are required. However, as budget and manpower are limited, it is necessary to selectively deploy fire fighting power and invest in infrastructure. Therefore, this study attempted to present a fire damage rating that can compare the level of fire damage, which is an index that can help selectively provide fire fighting services in Pohang and make related decisions. For the index, the OD cost matrix was used to predict fire vulnerable areas with a high probability of increasing the fire scale in the event of a fire. Also fire damage was measured by predicting the level of fire damage in the event of a fire according to population, building density, and access of fire trucks. It is expected that the fire damage rating will be able to help in various decisions related to fire fighting service deployment and services not only in Pohang city, but also in other regions.

또한 기존의 규칙 기반 FFES(Fire Fighting Expert System), 사례기반 추론에 의해 확장된 C-FFES(Combined-Fire Fighting Expert System) 그리고 제안하는 A-FFES(Advanced Fire fighting Expert System)를 비교를 통해, 제안하는 A-FFES가 화재탐지율을 향상시킴을 보였다.
