Nowadays, it is increasingly important to detect whether cables are live for the operator's safety if there is a sudden power failure. It is especially hard to detect the electrical field of an underground line because of shielding. This paper on detection of live-line states in cables studied the detection characteristics of the change in the magnetic field and axis as the frequency, voltage, and distance at the same load are changed using 3 axes. A search coil type was used as a magnetic field sensor with non-contact. We found that magnetic fields decrease proportionally to the square of the distance and the decrease of rated voltage with load effected to magnetic field. The magnetic field was detected by 3-axis sensors given correct proximity, but appeared as noise components beyond a distance of 2 cm.

In this paper, in implementing a 4-coil resonant wireless power transmission system, we studied the discharge phenomenon that occurs at the end of the transmitting resonance coil. Resonant wireless power transmission consists of a power supply coil, a transmitting resonance coil, a power receiving resonance coil, and a load coil. The transmitting resonance coil serves to amplify the magnetic field generated from the power supply coil and transmits it to the front receiving resonance coil. When a high current flows through the power supply coil in order to transmit large power, a high voltage is induced at the end of the transmitting resonance coil. It causes line-to-line discharge. Line-to-line discharge phenomenon damages the transmitter case and renders the transmitter unusable. Therefore, in order to eliminate this line-to-line discharge phenomenon, the voltage induced in the transmitting resonance coil that causes line-to-line discharge was analyzed and a solution was proposed.

This paper presents empirical equations indicating the high frequency performance characteristics of air-cored induction coil sensors with their constructional parameters. An air-cored induction coil sensor is widely used due to good linearity at low frequency ranges but the sensor has weakness of relatively low sensitivity to the magnetic field. At high frequency ranges, the sensitivity can be dramatically increased, largely depending on the frequency of the injected field, and this property can be a great asset to some electromagnetic inspections, since they utilize the interrogating current with a fixed frequency. The application of this property of the coil sensor requires the estimation of its high frequency performance. We made experiments on the frequency responses of the coil sensors under diverse constructional conditions and, on the basis of the experimental results, the high frequency performance, such as the resonant frequency and the sensitivity at the frequency, was estimated, as a function of the constructional parameters of the coil sensor. The good agreements between experimental and estimated data were reported.
Magnetocardiography is a very weak biomagnetic field generated from the heart. Since the magnitude of the biomagnetic field is in the order of a few pico Tesla, it is measured with a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). SQUID is a transducer converting magnetic flux to voltage, however, its range of linear conversion is very restricted. In order to overcome the narrow dynamic range. a flux locked loop is used to feedback the output field with opposite polarity to the input field so that the total Held becomes zero. This prevents the operating point of the SQUID from moving too far away from the null point thereby escape from the linear region. In this paper, an emulator for the SQUID sensor and feedback coil is proposed. Magnetic courting between the original field and the generated field by the feedback coil is emulated by electronic circuits. By using the emulator, FLL circuits are analyzed and optimized without SQUID sensors. The emulator may be used as a test signal for multi-channel gain calibration and system maintenance.

In this paper, magnetic field compensation system with an open architecture and can be installed indoors is designed and measured by fabricated. To verify the shielding effectiveness, two rectangular helmholtz coils with 3-axis are fabricated to generate magnetic field and measured magnetic field inside compensation coil for 1~60[Hz], According to measurements, AC shielding effectiveness of compensation system is 96[%] of 1[Hz], 95[%] of 30[Hz] and 90[%] of 60[Hz]. The performance of system therefore can be used as the magnetically shielded room for medical and industrial field.

In this paper, the electric field distribution induced inside the brain during Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation(TMS) has been thoroughly investigated in terms of tissue heterogeneity and anisotropy as well as different head models. To achieve this, first, an elaborate head model consisting of seven major parts of the head has been built based on the Magnetic Resonance(MR) image data. Then the Finite Element Method(FEM) has been used to evaluate the electric field distribution under different head models or three different conductivity conditions when the head model has been exposed to a time varying magnetic field achieved by utilizing the Figure-Of-Eight(FOE) stimulation coil. The results show that the magnitude as well as the distribution of the induced field is significantly affected by the degree of geometrical asymmetry of head models and conductivity conditions with respect to the center of the FOE coil.

Magnetic field theories for the design of highly homogeneous magnet are introduced and a nonlinear optimization method for the design of actively shielded superconducting magnet is presented. The presented design method can optimize both main coil and shielding coil simultaneously by setting constraints on stray field intensity at a specified distance from the magnet center. A 2-Tesla actively shielded superconducting magnet, with 90cm bore diameter, is designed using the presented method. The field homogeneity is 2ppm/30cm DSV and the 5 gauss stray field contour is within 4m axially and 3m radially from the magnet center. (author)., 7 refs., 6 figs., 3 tabs.

In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of time-varying magnetic field stimulator. Novel design for power supply part to generate high repetitive magnetic field for very short time(less than $300{\mu}s$) was achieved. Using the novel designed power supply part and the circular type coil probe, we've achieved high magnetic field up to 1.2 Tesla in 20Hz repetition rate.
