This paper presents a methodology for the electric field analysis of substation. For the electric field analysis of substation, the electrodes(substation busbars) must be represented by finite line with nonlinear charge density. In the case of dividing finite line into uniform segments, a large number of variables have to be used to obtain the accuracy within a desired tolerance. To deal with the problem, nonuniform charge arrangement modeling method is suggested. To reduce potential calculation errors, the linear charge density function is considered particularly for the segment charge model ling. If the charge arrangement is improper, the accuracy not improved regardless of increment in the number of segments. This paper proposes an optimal charge arrangement method through potential error analysis. And, the optimal charge arrangement function is formulated by a lot of simulation results.
Axi-periodic analysis using magnetic vector potential is formulated in time harmonic field and applied to the field analysis for the end region of large turbo generator in this paper. By using axi-periodic analysis, the effect of flux shield, one of the structure placed in the end region of large turbo generator to prevent stator end from thermal damage, is studied, and eddy current loss in the flux shield is estimated for operation conditions. 3D FEA is used for the verification of presented analysis method. Because 3D flux distribution can be calculated with 2D modeling, magnetic field showing 3D distribution can be effectively calculated by axi-periodic analysis comparing with 3D FEA.
In this study, a two-dimensional oscillating foil with forward speed in a propagating wave flow field was considered. The time-mean power to maintain the heaving and pitching motions of the foil was analyzed using the perturbation theory in an ideal fluid. The power, which was a non-linear quantity of the second-order, was expressed in terms of the quadratic transfer functions related to the mutual product of the heaving and pitching motions and incoming vertical flow. The effects of the pivot point and phase difference among the disturbances were studied. The negative power, which indicates energy extraction from the fluid, is shown as an example calculation.

The human body and nervous system transmit information through electric charges. After the electric charge transmits information to the brain, we can feel pain, numbness, comfort, and other feelings. Electric therapy is currently used widely in clinical practice because the field of examination is more representative of electrocardiogram, and in the field of treatment is more representative of electrotherapy. In this study, we design a system for neurophysiological therapy and conduct parameter calculation and model selection for the components of the system. The system is based on a discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) boost circuit, and controlled and regulated by a single-chip microcomputer. The system does not only have a low cost but also fully considers the safety of use, convenience of the human-computer interface, adjustment sensitivity, and waveform diversity in the design. In future, it will have strong implications in the field of electrotherapy.
We already obtained magnetic behavior of superconducting Nb foil of linear type magnetic flux pump (LTMFP) by means of the FEM analysis. As well as, fundamental equations of pumping current were theoretically derived based on the pumping sequences according to the position of normal spot of the moving flux. In this paper, we experimentally investigated pumping performances of LTMFP with a wide range of traveling speed of magnetic field. In order to confirm the numerical and theoretical approaches, we explained the pumping characteristics of LTMFP by use of the calculation sequence of pumping current.

A new weight function approach to determine SIF(stress intensity factor) using single-layer potential has been presented. The crack surface displacement field was represented by one boundary integral term whose kernel was modified from Kelvin's fundamental solution. The proposed method enables the calculation of SIF using only one SIF solution without any modification for the crack geometries symmetric in two-dimensional plane such as a center crack in a plate with or without an internal hole, double edge cracks, circumferential crack or radial cracks in a pipe. The application procedure to those crack problems is very simple and straightforward with only one SIF solution. The necessary information in the analysis is two reference SIFs. The analysis results using present closed-form solution were in good agreement with those of the literature.

The voltage unbalance factor derived from symmetrical component analysis requires manipulation of complex quantities. To facilitate the calculation of the voltage unbalance factor in field applications, this paper proposes the method for calculating the voltage unbalance factor in terms of the line voltage magnitudes that are readily available in moat practical circumstances. It is shown that the line voltages appear as circular Phasor loci for given voltage unbalance factor, and a graphical chart is developed that can be used to determine the voltage unbalance factor in a straightforward manner avoiding calculation.

The ultimate settlement of soft clay consists of three parts: $\circled1$ immediate settlement, S$\sub$d/; $\circled2$ Primary consolidation settlement, S$\sub$c/; $\circled3$ Secondary consolidation settlement, S$\sub$s/. In general, S$\sub$c/ can be accurately calculated by one-dimensional consolidation and S$\sub$s/ or S$\sub$d/ may be ignored. This paper focuses on a calculation method to estimate the immediate settlement induced by lateral deformation of subgrade, to which shear stress is applied by embankment on soft ground. Immediate settlement and consolidation settlement are discussed by comparing the field measurement of the Yangsan test embankment on treated soft foundation by vertical paper drains.
Acoustic characteristics in an industrial gas-turbine combustor are numerically investigated by a linear acoustic analysis. Spatially non-homogeneous temperature field in the combustor is considered in the numerical calculation and the characteristics are analyzed in view of acoustic instability. Acoustic analyses are conducted in the combustors without and with acoustic resonator, which is one of the acoustic-damping devices or combustion stabilization devices. It has been reported that severe pressure fluctuation frequently occurs in the adopted combustor, and the measured signal of pressure oscillation is compared with the acoustic-pressure response from the numerical calculation. The numerical results are in good agreement with the measurement data. In this regard. the phenomenon of pressure fluctuation in the combustor could be caused by acoustic instability. From the numerical results for the combustor with present acoustic resonators installed, the acoustic effects of the resonators are analyzed in the viewpoints of both the frequency tuning and the damping capacity. It is found that the resonators with present specifications are not optimized and thus, the improved specification or design is required.
We have designed the calculation model(AMC method) of electron output for the cut-out fieldsand studied the influence of shielding block size. The output of electron was measured in the water phantom at dmax, for 20 $\times$ 20cm$^2$ cone size electron beams from CL/1800 linear accelerator(Varian, USA), Which generates the energy of 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18MeV electron beams. The shielding blocks were rectangular or squre shaped, low melting point alloy. We can predict the output from the arbitrarily rectangular shaped block within 1% error. by using the AMC method, which considers the contribution of the collimator(block) scatter and the phantom scatter.
