  • The current on the thin planar structure as an element of the transversely fed electromagnetically coupled(EMC) microstrip dipole array antenna is obtained by using the integral forms of the finite difference time domain(FDTD) method. This method was applied to calculating the optimum current distribution (Doplh-Tchebyscheff distribution) of each dipole element on the feed line as a function of their offset positions for the narrow main beam width and the side beam level below -20 dB. The current on each dipole substitutes for the electric and magnetic current densities on the virtual surface of the FDTD calculation to express the far field intensity, the calculation time and the computer memeory can be reduced to about 80% and 1.3 Mbyte, respectively. The calculated radiation patterns are compared to the measured values and these are in good agreement.

  • Electric machines such as motors which have moving parts are desgined for producing mechanical force or torque. The accurate calculation of electromagnetic force and torque is important in the design these machines, Electromagnetic force calculation method using the results of Finite Element Method(FEM) has been presented variously in 2-D problems. Typically the Maxwell's Stress Tensor method and the method of virtual work are used. In the problems including current source, magnetic vector potentials(MVP) have mostly been used as an unknown variables for field analysis by numerical method; e, g. FEM. This paper, thus, introduces both methods using MVP in 3-D case. To verify the usefulness of presented methods, a solenoid model is chosen and analyzed by 3-D and axisymmetrical FEM. In each case, the calculated force are tabulated for several mesh schemes.

  • Under Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ) and Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERO, a Working Party on Reactor Physics of Accelerator-Driven System (ADS-WP) has been set since March 1999 to review and investigate special subjects related to reactor physics research of Accelerator-Driven System (ADS). In the ADSWP, the extensive and aggressive activity is being made by 25 professional members in the field of reactor physics in Japan. The ADS is now studying three subjects related to subcriticality of ADS; (1) calculation accuracy of sub criticality on ADS, (2) critical safety issues of ADS, and (3) theoretical review of subcriticality and its measurement methods. This paper describes two topics related to the subjects (1) and (2); one is an analysis of maximum reactivity potentially inserted to a subcritical core and the other is a benchmark proposal for checking calculation accuracy of sub criticality on ADS. The full specification of the calculation benchmark will be supplied by June 2002. Researchers from overseas, especially from Korea, are welcome to join this benchmark

  • A two-dimensional nonlocal heating theory of planar-type inductively coupled plasma source has been previously reported with a filamentary antenna current model. However, such model yields an infinite value of electric field at the antenna position, resulting in the infinite self-inductance of the antenna. To overcome this problem, a surface current model of antenna should be adopted in the calculation of the electromagnetic fields. In the present study, the reactor impedance is calculated based on the surface current model and the dependence on various discharge parameters is studied. In addition, a simpler method is suggested and compared with the surface current calculation.

  • Among many dimensional or dimensionless amplitude parameters, kurtosis and ID Factor are said to be sensitive good parameters for machine diagnosis. In this paper, a simplified calculation method for both parameters is introduced when impact vibration arise in the observed data. Compared with the past papers' results, this new method shows a good result which fit well. This calculation method is simple enough to be executed even on a pocketsize calculator and is very practical at the factory of maintenance field. This can be installed in microcomputer chips and utilized as a tool for early stage detection of the failure.

  • Recently, They are usually recording the patient information on the Hospital Information System. In the department of Radiology, For the purpose of assuming patient exposed dose, Authors contrived the mathematical calculation model by use of x-ray out put data on the Excel program, if they in put the exposure factors (kVp, mAs, thickness), the program could automatically calculate the patient Skin dose. The assuming data by three dimensional equation has average errors within ${\pm}5%$, there for We could make good use of clinical field in department of radiology.

  • As large logistics buildings have high floor heights and long spans, these buildings are designed as PC structures, and large cranes are used to lift PC members. PC erection planning can generally cause errors depending on the field engineer's experience. To solve this problem, a basic analysis method is needed to establish a systematic PC member erection plan. Crane work can be minimized if the trajectory is easily and quickly calculated according to the location of the crane and applied to the site. Therefore, the objective of this study is a basic study of crane trajectory distance calculation for sustainable PC members erection of large logistic building. In this study, a crawler crane commonly used for lifting PC members is limited. The trajectory distance for the PC erection plan was automatically calculated using the algorithm.

  • Slope is one of the most important factor in land development permission standards. In guideline of "Land Suitability Assessment" or "Forest Land Conversion Standard", average slope can be measured using digital map and GIS for target area. Inputs in slope calculation are 1/5,000 digital map of NGII(National Geographic Information Institute) or digital information of Korea Land Information System. Many confusions occur in the field, as there is no standard for slope calculation and are lots of slope calculation methods using contour lines or DEM derived from them. Avoiding these confusions, this study was intended to propose a standardized method for slope calculation and a selection method for a suitable resolution. In this study, using DEM of optimum grid size according to the complexity of topography with finite difference method is suggested as improved slope calculation method, after comparing several representative slope calculation methods.

  • Initial reliability prediction done by calculation would be more practical if support by evidence from customer usage profile and field failure data to improve the prediction. Thus, the consistency of the design and the product would be practically validated. In this paper, it will address rationale and method to decide on Acceleration Factor (AF) to be used in Accelerated Life Test (ALT) through usage profile and field failure. The case study of tractor transmission is used to demonstrate the method which data obtained from surveys done on farmers, field visits and field failure data from service center. By considering all the elements, it will determine more relevant AF which indicates the real use conditions of the component.

  • The flow field of a 1 Ton/Day entrained-flow gasifier constructed in KIER was numerical simulate in this paper. The standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model and simple procedure was used with the Primitive-Variable methods during computation. In order to find the influence factors of the flow field which may have great effects on coal gasification process inside gasifier, difference geometry parameters at various operating conditions were studied by simulation methods. The calculation results show that the basic shape of the flow field is still parabolic even the oxygen gas is injected from the off-axis position. There exist an obvious external recirculation zone with a length less than 1.0m and a small internal recirculation region nears the inlet part. The flow field inside the new gasifier is nearly similar as that of the old 0.5T/D gasifier at same position if the design of burner remains unchanged.
