Purpose: This study was conducted to look at the relationship among sexual consciousness, reproductive health knowledge and sexual experience. Method: the subjects were 276 high school students in 4 high schools in Gyonggi Province and Chungnam Province. The data was collected from August 1 to September 10, 2003. Result: The average age of the subjects is 16.5 years old, composed of male students, 154 persons(55.8%), and female students, 122 persons(44.2%). The mean scores of sexual consciousness, reproductive health knowledge and the mean level of sexual experience are 28.9, 10.5, and 1.7 respectively. There is a significant difference in sexual consciousness and sexual experience by sex (t=-3.22, p<.001; t=8.17, p<.001), the male students have more sexual experience than the female students, while the girls have a higher sexual consciousness than boys. Sexual consciousness has a negative relationship with reproductive health knowledge and sexual experiences(r=-0.13, p=0.04;r=-0.17, p=0.01). Sexual experience has a positive relationship to reproductive health knowledge(r=0.21, p<.001). Conclusion: We can conclude that sexual consciousness and reproductive health knowledge are weakly related to sexual experience. In addition we suggest developing an educational program to enhance sexual consciousness for high school students considering sexual differences.

The purpose of this study was to provide the information for the development of gender-equality oriented content of Technology Home Economics subject. For this purpose, a total of 404 male and female middle high school students in Chuncheon city were sampled and asked to estimate the degree of practical use and preference for the 47 units of Technology Home Economics subject. Results were summarized as following : 1. The 47 units were classified into 4 groups on the basis of similarity in the degree of practical use and preference: 23 units estimated as 'better than average' by male and female students were classified into group 1; 4 units estimated as 'better than average' by female students but as 'less than average' by male students were classified into group 2; 10 units estimated as 'less than average' by male and female students were classified into group. 3; 10 units estimated as 'far less than average' by male and female students were classified into group 4. Most of the units in Home Economics area were classified Into group 1 or 2, but most of the units in Technology area were classified into group 3 or 4. 2. Gender difference was confirmed between male and female students' estimation of the degree of practical use and preference for the 47 units. In about three-quaters of the units in Home Economics area, female students' estimation of the degree of practical use and preference was higher than male students' estimation. In about half of the units in Technology area, male students' estimation of the degree of practical use and preference was higher than female students' estimation. However, possibility was detected in several units of Technology Home Economics subject that gender difference could be decreased.
This study aims to study the discourses influencing high school students' concept and attitude toward mathematics, and to examine how gender differences concerning mathematical aptitude are created. This study is based on the results of previous two studies which suggested that mathematical competence differs not only according to gender, region and school year, but also even within the same gender. For this study, 12 students ranking in the top 10% at two co-ed high schools were interviewed to find out 1) what discourses are related to gender and mathematics, 2) in what way these discourses are formulated and gain currency, and 3) how they have affected students in general. Common notions concerning mathematics may be summed up as follows: 1) Most of the students believe that gender difference in mathematical aptitude results because biologically men tend to be strong in mathematics and analytical skills while women tend to have better linguistic ability. This concept can help male students' studying to have a greater learning toward mathematics. 2) A large number of the students believe that male students' studying method is based on comprehension whereas female students' method is based on retention, and hence the former group tends to be better at applying their learning than the latter group. This notion seres to encourage male students and discourage female students from tackling difficult mathematical problems. 3) Many students believe that, although female students may surpass their male counterparts in middle school or the first year of high school, they will eventually fall behind by the 3rd year. Despite research which shows that these common beliefs are not grounded in scientific proof, high-school girls, who may be strong in mathematics, lose self-confidence and feel a sense of crisis. The mechanisms which produce and reinforce such concepts as those mentioned above can be summarized as follows: 1) Regarding the choice of majors and future career paths, parents show different attitudes toward sons and daughters, and this tends to influence high-school girls and hinders them from entering mathematics-related fields. 2) Teachers with value systems based on stereo-typed gender roles affect students a great deal, and give different advice according to gender of their students, for selecting their major fields - for instance, whether to study the natural sciences as opposed to humanities. 3) This study indicates that peer-group behavior, of either support or exclusion, also reinforces the process of internalizing notions of gender difference related to mathematical aptitude. 4) The gender-based notion that men are naturally more inclined to have better mathematical ability has caused male students to choose the natural science subjects and female students to turn to the humanities. The discourses discussed above, propagated in schools and homes, and in the mass media, are continually reinforced along with general gender inequalities in the society at large.
This study was conducted to investigate the drinking status, drinking habit and dietary habit of high school students using anonymous questionnaires. DVS and skipped meal status were obtained by 24 hour recall method. Two hundreds ninety seven of 380 students (78.2%) have experienced the drinking even though 73.7% of them was not addictive. One hundred sixty one students (54.2%) initiated drinking in the middle school, mostly because of ‘peer pressure’ and ‘curiosity’. The most plausible reasons for drinking were ‘for mingling’ and ‘for stress reduction’, and they used to have desire for drinking mostly when felt ‘anger or frustration’ and ‘feel good’. Drinking behavior was significantly different in age of first smoking, drinking history, amount, reason for drinking and desire for drinking between male and female student. There was no significant difference in dietary habits between drinking students and non-drinking students. DVS, skipped meal status, snack preferences and food intake frequency also did not show the significant differences. However, considering that the drinking experience of high school students increased, and drinking experience of female students approached to that of male student, more attention needs to be given to juvenile drinking and its'prevention.
The purpose of this study was to investigate PPL(product placement) effect of apparel sponsorship in TV drama to adolescent female students. PPL effect was investigated in terms of brand recall, brand attitude, and purchase intention. The data were collected using a self-administered and structured questionnaire. Respondents were consisted of 270 middle school girls and 260 high school girls in Pusan. Cronbach's alpha, T-Test, frequency, and ANOVA test were used to conduct the data analysis on 524 out of 530 questionnaires. The result showed no difference in PPL effect between middle school students and high school students. Students shopping with friends or relatives showed higher brand attitude or purchase intention than ones shopping alone. The students watching 1-2 hours showed significantly higher brand recall, cognitive brand attitude, emotional brand attitude and purchase intention than other students watching TV drama longer. Implications for results and marketing strategies for PPL targeting adolescent students were discussed.
The relation between dietary behavior and fast food consumption was investigated among 117 male and 164 female students at a high school in Seoul. The main reason for eating fast foods was convenience. In addition, they used fast food chain stores as a get together place with friends. They enjoyed taste of fast foods as well as the atmosphere of stores but they regarded fast foods somewhat expensive for high school students. Among them, 30.1% of the female students had irregular meals and they ate more irregularly than males. More students took too much or too little amount(45.3% of male, 52.5% of female students) than those who took adequate amount. They skipped breakfast the most frequently because they are in a hurry. Most students took snacks once a day and they considered taste of snacks was more important than nutrition or price. They consumed less calorie, calcium, iron, and riboflavin than RDA. Mean caloric intakes of males and females were 79.0% and 97.1% of RDA, respectively. Mean calcium and iron intakes were less than 70% of RDA. Among many factors that may influence nutrient intake, anthropometric indices turned out to be the most influential. Body weight showed significantly positive correlation with caloric, protein, thiamin, and ascorbic acid intakes in male students where both height and weight showed positive relation with calorie, protein, and iron intakes in females. Therefore, this study suggested that fast food stores should make efforts to provide more foods and beverages which are supplemented with calcium and iron. Also, better nutrition education programs should be established to improve high school students dietary habit to complement these nutrients.
Health can be maintained and promoted by pursuing a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle implies keeping healthy habits such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, weight control, and stress management etc. The objectives of this study are: (1) To find out patterns in the lifestyle and health status of high school students. (2) To analyze the factors that affect a healthy lifestyle. (3) To compare the level of understanding of a healthy lifestyle and its practice between male students and female students. The study population wag 388 high school students. The data was analysed through a % total, a $X^2$ test, and a multiple classification analysis. The lifestyle assessment questionnaire was devided into ten sections. The results are as follows; (1) There was a positive correlation between health status and a healthy lifestyle. (2) There existed strong positive correlations between independent variables (age, group) and dependent variable (nutritional practices, physical activity, stress management, serve of purpose). (3) The level of understanding of a healthy lifestyle was not high for most of the students. Female students showed a higher understanding than male students in nutrition practice, while male students group showed a higher and under standing than female students for physical activity. The other result were similar in their practice of a healthy lifestyle. With all these above considerations, the level of understanding and practice of a healthy lifestyle in students was not higher than the adult group. Students should have more educational opportunities and take a more systematic education in practicing a healthy lifestyle.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the properties about oral health of 250 physical education middle-high school students. From April 2013 to June, we researched their oral health knowledge, attitude, behavior and oromaxillofacial trauma using oral examination and structured survey and implemented independent t-test and frequency analysis. Female students were statistically higher in DMFT rate(Female 22.30 % and male 15.41% in average). Middle school students were higher in periodontal health status score compared to high school students(Middle school 1.19 and high school 0.68 in average). Female students scored higher in both oral health knowledge(Female 3.69 and male 2.81 in average) and behavior(female 38.26 and male 36.92 in average). Therefore, the implementation of oral health education and personalized oral health program that considers properties of physical education middle-high school students.

In this study, high school students' environmental conceptions and attitudes, and their relationships with affective variables (self-esteem, enjoyment of science lesson, and leisure interest in science) were investigated. Students' environmental conceptions were found to be low, and male students' environmental conceptions were higher than female students. However, the environmental attitudes of female students were more positive than those of male students. There were no differences between male and female students in the ecocentric attitudes, but male students had more egocentric attitudes than female students. Students of higher prior science achievement level possessed higher level of environmental conceptions than their counterparts. Among the affective variables studied, leisure interest in science was significantly correlated with environmental attitudes.
This purpose of this study was to survey state-anxiety, depression and resilience in female high school students and to identify factors influencing resilience. Data were collected 177 female high school students. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, t-test, Scheffe's test, Stepwise Regression Analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficient. The mean score of state-anxiety was 39.56±11.37. There was statistically significant difference in state-anxiety on variable such as academic achievement, satisfaction of school life, parental rearing attitudes, satisfaction of family life. The mean score of depression was 7.53±8.52. There were statistically significant difference in depression on variables such as relationship with school fellow, satisfaction of school life, parental rearing attitudes, satisfaction of family life. The mean score of resilience was 98.36±17.76. There was statistically significant difference in resilience on variables such as academic achievement, parental rearing attitudes, Resilience was negatively correlated with state-anxiety. Resilience was negatively correlated with depression. Self-esteem was positively correlated with depression. Factor influencing resilience were state-anxiety, high academic achievement, which explained 49.6%. Findings provide useful information for further studies in female high school students. Further research with careful sampling will be needed to enhance the resilience of male and female high school students,
