  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of female adolescents' rejection sensitivity, impulsivity and guilt on their binge eating behavior. Questionnaires on rejection sensitivity, impulsivity, guilt and binge eating behavior were administered to 607 female adolescents in Changwon and Ulsan. Of 572 collected copies, 402 were deemed valid and statistically analyzed through frequency analysis, mean and standard deviation, t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis using SPSS Win 12.0. The results of the study were as follows: 1) School type was found to make a significant difference in rejection sensitivity, overall impulsivity, guilt and binge eating behavior; however, its influence was not significant on the sub-factors of impulsivity: motor impulsivity, unplanned impulsivity and cognitive impulsivity. 2) For female middle school students, rejection anger sensitivity, rejection depression sensitivity and motor impulsivity were found to have a significant influence on binge eating behavior for both middle school and high school girls. Guilt, however, was found to be influential for female high school students only. 3) Impulsivity was found to have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between female adolescents' rejection sensitivity and binge eating behavior.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of entrance exam stress on oral health behaviors and subjective oral health status in female high school students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was administered to 216 female high school students in the Gwangju area. We performed an independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The average of the entrance exam stress was 2.73, and among the sub-areas, the tension for exam/poor stress was the highest with 3.21. As a result of analysis of general characteristics and subjective oral health status, oral mucosal disease was lower in family income level (p<0.05), bad breath was significantly higher with lower academic performance (p<0.001) and family income level (p<0.05). As a result of oral health behavior and subjective oral health status analysis, dental caries has more than 4 times of caries snacks (per week) (p<0.05), bad breath was found to be more perceived when the average number of daily brushing was 2 or less (p<0.01). Factors affecting subjective oral health status were that dental caries was a patients pressure stress (β=0.202); temporomandibular disorder (β=0.227), xerostomia (β=0.342), and oral mucosal disease (β=0.190) were insufficient spare time; bad breath was academic performance (lower) (β=0.231) and insufficient spare time (β=0.184). There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the subjective oral health status and the subarea of entrance exam stress, excluding future uncertainty stress. Conclusion: It is considered that oral health education should be conducted to prevent oral diseases for students with high parental pressure and insufficient spare time stress as well as finding practical ways to reduce entrance stress.

  • This study provides basic data for the development of nutrition education programs for high schools by examining adolescents' demand for nutrition education and their dietary and health behaviors. A survey was conducted for 500 students attending two high schools in the Gwangmyeong area. The questionnaire addressed their dietary habits, health behaviors, and nutrition education. In terms of meal conditions, 70.6% of all respondents had meals at least four times a day, 67.2% skipped breakfast frequently, and only 29.9% had breakfast with their family members. In addition, 66.0% reported a slightly unbalanced diet depending on the food (35.1% for vegetables and 28.2% for legumes). Nutrition labeling was checked occasionally (44.4%) by male respondents and surely (39.3%) by female respondents (p<0.01). In terms of health behaviors, 67.4% of male respondents reported a lack of sleep (5-7 hours), 33.3% of male respondents reported exercising three to four times a week, and 42.7% of female respondents reported no exercise. For the level of stress, 58.9% of male respondents reported "sometimes", and 43.0% of female respondents reported "always". For interest in nutrition education, 58.3% of the respondents reported "no". A majority of the respondents learned about nutrition through "the media or the Internet" (89.6%). The health behavior score was significantly carelated with dietary habits (p<0.01) and the stress score (p<0.05) for male students, and it was negatively correlated with checking nutrition labels (p<0.01) and positively correlated with the BMI for female students. These results suggest that appropriate health behaviors can help overcome stress and produce better dietary habits for male students, but for females, the results are ambiguous. A majority of the respondents (57.9%) perceived a need for nutrition education as part of the high school curriculum, and the content of such a curriculum included more meals with family members and the importance of breakfast. Based on the results, nutrition education for male students should focus on nutrition labeling, whereas that for female students, on exercise frequency and proper weight management.

And the students are classified by satisfactory degree on their home backgrounds, satisfactory degree on their school life, and school record. The data is analysed by means of frequency, percentage, chi-square test and Pearson's correlation using the $SPSS-PC^+$ package program. The results of this study were as follow : The frequency of drug use except a alcohol and the degree of perception on a drug among female students are higher than among male. The female students are more permissive on the drug use and they are also tend to think more easily the purchase of a drug. The frequency of drug use and the degree of perception on drugs are higher in the group of the lower satisfactory degree on their home background. Especially, there are many people using drugs surrounding the students in the lower group. The frequency of drug use and the degree of perception on drugs are higher in the group that has the lower satisfactory degree on school life. The students in the group having low school record have more dangerous thought about the use of drugs than the students of high record. The degree of perception on a drug is higher in a higher group, and the students in a higher group also think more easily the purchase of drugs. • Objectives : This study aimed to improve school health program by investigation of several variables through educational diagnostic factors which influence the level of subjective oral health perception and DMFT of students on the basis of PRECEDE model. Methods : A total of 286 high school students in Busan completed the self-reported questionnaire from September 3 to 28 in 2012. Results : 1. Social and epidemiologic diagnosis suggested that the level of subjective oral health perception of male students was not better than that of female students and DMFT number of the male was more than that of the female(p<0.001)(p<0.001). 2. Oral health diagnosis indicated that once a day tooth brushing group showed lower level of oral health perception(p<0.001) and high DMFT number(p<0.001). 3. Predisposing factor of educational diagnosis implied that more than 4 times a day snack intake group and sweet diet and soda friendly group showed lower level of oral health perception and high DMFT number(p<0.001). 4. Tooth brushing of the reinforcing factors had the most important effect on the level of oral health perception and the number of dental caries. Daily snack intake was the most important effect on DMFT number. Conclusions : The informed consent from each family was the important factor in implementing PRECEDE model. School health program improved oral health care. Oral health program can correct the risk oral health behavior in children and adolescents.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the weight control behaviors, the degree of fatness and dance major on behalf of finding the effects of eating disorders. 779 female high school students, 283 dance major students and 496 general major students, were participated in the study. A self-reporting type of questionnaire survey was conducted during the period from $6^{th}$ May to $18^{th}$ April of 2005. Collected data were processed using SPSSW in 12.0; they were analysed through frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows : 1. With regard to the level of eating disorders(EAT-26), 33.9% of risk group of eating disorder female dance students, and 13.7% of risk group of eating disorder female general major students. Weight-control behaviors in this research were 1) weight control concerns, 2) weight control trial, 3) weight control methods (prescription of M.D., ways of weight control), 4) eating habits. First, 56.6% of subjects had high concerns about weight control, and 92% of subjects had tried weight control. Second, only 5.1% of subjects were prescribed by M.D. Third, subjects had been using wrong methods(25.7%) of weigh control such as fasting, using drugs, vomiting, wearing laps etc. Fourth, 42.7% of the subjects had bad eating habits. The degree of fatness was as follows: 1) BMI(Body Mass Index), 2) self report about weight 3) distorted body image. Depending upon the BMI, the subjects with obesity were not found in female dance students; Comparatively, 36.9% of dance students were fat and 1.4% of the students were very fat. In terms of distorted body image, only 14.9% of all subjects were the same between the subjective degree of fatness and the objective degree of fatness. 2. As a result of multiple regression, six variables were found significant($R^2=11.6%$, P < 0.01). Concerns about the weight control significantly influenced on eating disorders(EAT-26). At the same time, major(dance), wrong methods of weight control, distorted body image, prescription of M.D, and eating habits had significantly influenced on eating disorders. This results indicates that the risk of eating disorders among female dancer students was very high. Therefore, professional intervention is needed for female dance students to prevent the eating disorders.
