In this study, specimens were made with profile thicknesses and shear reinforcement as parameters. The bending and shear behavior were checked, and comparative analysis was conducted of the results and the theoretical values in order to see the applicability of T-section Modular Composite Profiled Beams (TMPB). In TMPB, the profiles of formwork functions play a structural role resisting the load. Also, the module concept, which is introduced into TMPB, has advantages: it can be mass-produced in a factory, it is lighter than an existing H-beam, it can be fabricated on the spot, and its section size is freely adjustable. The T1 specimens exhibited ductile behavior, where the whole section displayed strain corresponding to yielding strain at least without separation between modules. They also exhibited maximum strength similar to the theoretical values even if shear reinforcement was not applied, due to the marginal difference between shear strength and maximum bending monment of the concrete section. A slip between modules was incurred by shear failure of the bolts in all specimens, excluding the T1 specimen, and therefore bending moment could not be fully displayed.
In order to evaluate the effects of U shape ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) permanent form on the behaviors of Reinforced Concrete (RC) beam, a full scale RC composite beam is designed and tested with U shape UHPC permanent form and a reference RC beam with same parameters is tested simultaneously for comparison. The effects of the permanent form on the failure mode, cracking strength, ultimate capacity and deformation are studied. Test results shows that the contributions of the U shape UHPC permanent form to the flexural cracking behaviors of RC beam are significant. This study may provide a reference for the design of sustainable RC beam with high durable UHPC permanent form.

The conventional factor of safety as used in geotechnical engineering does not reflect the degree of uncertainty of the relevant parameters. Then in the geotechnical engineering, there have been efforts to reflect the uncertainties of the geotechnical properties through probabilistic analysis. In this study, a practical method for probabilistic analysis using the Hasofer-Lind reliability index is introduced. The method is based on the perspective of an ellipsoid that just touches the failure surface in the original space of the variables. The method is applied to prefabricated vertical drains (PVD) and compared with the result of Monte Carlo Simulation method.

This paper proposes methods to incorporate station related aging failures in composite system reliability assessment. Aging failures of station components, such as circuit breakers and bus bars, are a major concern in composite power system planning and operation as an increasing number of station components approach the wear-out phase. This paper presents probabilistic models for circuit breakers involving aging failures and relevant evaluation techniques to examine the effects of station related aging outages. The technique developed to incorporate station related aging failures are illustrated by application to a small composite test system. The paper illustrates the effects of circuit breaker aging outages on bulk system reliability evaluation and examines the relative effects of variations in component age. System sensitivity analysis is illustrated by varying selected component parameters. The results show the implications of including component aging failure considerations in the overall analysis of a composite system.
This paper is concerned with an experimental study on structural behavior of Concrete-Filled Circular Tubular(CFCT) column to H-beam connections. The important parameters are the number of inner reinforced rib and the width of H-beam flange(100, 150, 200mm) with variable column thickness(5.8mm, 9.2mm, 12.5mm) around the joint between CFCT and H-beam. Test results are summarized for the displacement, strength, initial stiffness, failure mode and energy absorption capacity of each specimen. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the initial stiffness and the strength of connections to evaluate the structural behavior of the CFCT column to H-beam connections. From the discussion about the test results, the basic data for non diaphragm connection design would be suggested.
This paper reports a manner to use a Bayesian approach to derive the optimal replacement policy. In order to produce a system with minimal repair warranty, a replacement model with the extended warranty is considered. Within the warranty period, the failed system is minimally repaired by the manufacturer at no cost to the end-user. The failure time is assumed to follow a Weibull distribution with unknown parameters. The expected cost rate per unit time, from the end-user's viewpoints, is induced by the Bayesian approach, and the optimal replacement policy to minimize the cost rate is proposed. Finally, a numerical example illustrating to derive the optimal replacement policy based on the Bayesian approach is described.
As more and more data are collected one may ask whether the data collected within a short period of time are same. In this case traditional hypothesis testing of $H_o:{\mu}_1={\mu}_2$ vs $H_1:{\mu}_1{\neq}{\mu}_2$ is used to determine whether the data are same when there is no knowledge about equivalence testing. However, this type of hypothesis testing has the undesirable property of penalizing higher precision. So TOST is to be performed in the event of equivalence testing. In this study equivalence testing is introduced where one can find the applications in industry. Traditional two sample t testing is to be compared with the equivalent testing and the procedure to perform the equivalence testing is to be presented along with an example. Finally equivalence testing in terms of the other parameters such as variance, proportion or failure rate is to be sought.

The behaviour of an unsaturated soil was analyzed by performing $K_0$ consolidated triaxial tests. Unsaturated triaxial tests were performed with matric suctions for weathered soils and could catch stress paths under consolidation and stress-strain relationships under shear. As a result, both isotropic and $K_0$ conditions had similar shear strength envelopes in the same matric suction. Especially, strength parameters could obtain by stress variables based on critical state theory reasonably which was better than those by Mohr circles at failure.

Bond between reinforcing bars and the surrounding concrete is supposed to safely transfer load in the design process of reinforced concrete structures. Bond failure of reinforcing bars generally take place by splitting of concrete cover as bond force between concrete and reinforcing bars exceeds the resistance by the confinement of the concrete cover and transverse reinforcement. Confinement, concrete cover and transverse reinforcement, on bond are the key factor of current provision to determine development length of reinforcing bars to concrete. In this study, previous available data are analyzed with respect to the current provisions for development and splice of reinforcement. From this study, the new provision for the design are proposed, which will be efficient and effective with some specific limit value.

This paper is to estimate the load carrying capacities of concrete-filled steel tubular columns and the important parameters are selected the size, length and concrete strength. he concrete-filled tube structures has many excellent structural properties, that is, high load capacity, good plastic deformation and high resistance local buckling. Under these background, this study Investigated to the structural compression behaviors, the maximum strength, the confinement effects, the fracture mechanism, local buckling failure and concrete strength effects.
