  • This paper describes the realization of the full-color to the degree of nearest white light by compounding high brightness Red, Green and Blue LEDs with appropriate proportional index. Once these three colors; red, green and blue are mixed, they are genearlly additive mixing and produce white light color contrasted to negative mixing. The luminous efficiency is defined as the product of the efficiency(lm/w), which indicates the degree of perceptual response by the human eye to unit energy(W) of light emitted by an active display devises and as the conversion efficiency of the device from electric power consumed to optical energy produced. We will deduce the each number of LEDs theoretically and design several shapes of LED displays for the full-color. Finally theoretical predictions will be compared with the measured data with different type of display designs.

  • Presented herein is a novel stereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) display system with active color filter glasses. This system provides full-color 3D images by applying the time-multiplexing technique on the original anaglyph method. By switching between the opposite anaglyph statuses, a full-color anaglyph is presented. A liquid crystal panel from a 3D monitor serves as an active color filter operating at 120 Hz. A display panel and a color filter are connected to one graphic card as a dual-link system, for synchronization. To test the quality of this system, a left/right-eye image separation test and an experiment with stereoscopic images were carried out. Although there was some crosstalk and blur, the system, as expected, provided full-color 3D display. This system overcomes a monochromatic 3D image, which is the major weakness of the original anaglyph system.

  • Color change in single-crystal, yellow, red, purple, and colorless cubic zirconias (CZs) was investigated as a function of annealing in vacuum and air atmosphere at $800-1400^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, for development of a damascene process of plugging a precious metal paste at the elevated temperature. Coloring-element contents of the CZs were evaluated using WD-XRF, and the color change determined visually by naked eye, and using a digital camera and UV-Vis-NIR color analyzer. WD-XRF showed that all of the CZs had cubic-phase stabilizer elements and coloring elements. All CZs that underwent vacuum annealing exhibited a slight color change at $<900^{\circ}C$, while their colors began to change to black at $1100^{\circ}C$, and became opaque black at $1400^{\circ}C$. After air annealing, there was almost no color change up to $1400^{\circ}C$. Since red and purple CZs showed greater color difference (CD) values than the others, the degree of CD is likely to depend on the original color of the CZ due to the different stabilities of their coloring elements during annealing. Based on our results, it is suggested that annealing in air at $<900^{\circ}C$ is advantageous, and assorted colored CZs can be used for precious metal damascene.

  • Detecting of the object in image processing is substantial but it depends on the object itself and the environment. An object can be detected either by its shape or color. Color is an essential for pattern recognition and computer vision. It is an attractive feature because of its simplicity and its robustness to scale changes and to detect the positions of the object. Generally, color of an object depends on its characteristics of the perceiving eye and brain. Physically, objects can be said to have color because of the light leaving their surfaces. Here, we conducted experiment in the aquarium fish tank. Different color of fish robots are mimic the natural swim of fish. Unfortunately, in the underwater medium, the colors are modified by attenuation and difficult to identify the color for moving objects. We consider the fish motion as a moving object and coordinates are found at every instinct of the aquarium to detect the position of the fish robot using OpenCV color detection. In this paper, we proposed to identify the position of the fish robot by their color and use the position data to control the fish robot gathering in one point in the fish tank through serial communication using RF module. It was verified by the performance test of detecting the position of the fish robot.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate shade selection using conventional visual assessment in vivo natural teeth and porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crown. Maxillary central incisors, lateral incisors and canines of one hundred twenty four college women were used as vivo natural teeth. Fifty one PFM crown for maxillary central incisor fabricated by dental laboratory were used as experimental materials. Using Vitapan Classical Shade Guides, shade selection of natural teeth was measured by each college woman and shade selection of PFM crown was measured by three ceramists with more than ten years career. Both natural teeth and PFM crown shade selection were measured through Shade Eye-Ex. From the shade selection comparing, following results were obtained. The results were as follows: 1. The shade matching identification of natural teeth between the shade selection using Vitapan Classical Shade Guides and the shade selection using Shade Eye-Ex was 27.4% in maxillary central incisor, 13.7% in lateral incisor and 18.5% in canine. 2. Among the shade selection of PFM crown by three ceramists, the shade evaluation of three ceramists were same only in ten cases. In twenty case, those of two ceramists were same. 3. The shade matching identification of PFM crown between the shade selection using Vitapan Classical Shade Guides and the shade selection using Shade Eye-Ex was 38.6% in average. These results suggest that the shade selection using conventional visual assessment should be dealt with care in clinic and need a credible method for shade matching color.

  • This paper describes a full color stereoscopic video display system using a LCD shutter. Human apprehends the world with a natural stereo vision. The left eye sees through a slightly different perspective from the right eye; proposed vision system combines two images into a single image that has stereo depth. That is, when the left image is on the screen, the left shutter opens and the right shutter closes - and vice versa. The LCD shutter channels the left image to the left eye, and the right image to the right eye. The brain then fuses the stereo pair into a single high-resolution, flicker-free 3D image. The designed vision system is a real-time system that shows stereoscopic images without the loss of image information from video cameras.

  • Statement of problem: There are two methods of color choice for the esthetic restoration. One is visual shade matching which draws a comparison between shade guide and teeth in dentist's own eye and the other is using a digital shade analysis system recently introduced. Although the visual shade matching has a lot of problems, decision of color by this visual shade matching and the ways of expression for the decided color are still applicable to clinical dentistry. Purpose: This study is designed to investigate shade guides used in the dental clinics and laboratories have the same value using ShadeEye-$NCC^{(R)}$ dental chroma meter (Shofu Inc., Kyoto, Japan) using shade guide are evaluated. Material and methods: At the first experiment, eight Vita Lumin Vacuum shade guides (Vident Inc., California, USA) were collected from the dental clinics. A1 and B1 shade tabs are chosen and the colors are analyzed five times each in both tooth and porcelain modes by digital shade analysis system, ShadeEye-$NCC^{(R)}$. In the second experiment, twelve Vita shade guides using practically in the dental clinics and laboratories were collected and also A1 and B1 shade tabs are chosen and the colors of A1 and B1 are analyzed one time each in both tooth and porcelain modes by ShadeEye-$NCC^{(R)}$. Results and conclusion: There were significant differences among eight shade guides in terms of shade (chroma), value and hue in both of A1 and B1 (P<.05). Shade guides using in present both dental clinics and laboratories did not show significant differences, except A1 in the porcelain mode, it showed significant differences (P<.05) in the shade even though the shade tab has the same name.

  • VLC (Visible Light Communication) is a wireless communication method using light that is visible to the human eye. It has a major advantage that it causes no interference to RF-based devices. This makes wireless communication possible in RF hazardous areas such as nuclear facilities. In order to apply VLC communication in harsh environment of nuclear power plant, the high luminance LEDs, which are key components of the VLC communication, have been gamma-ray irradiated at the dose rate of 4kGy/h during 72 hours up to a total dose of 288 kGy. The radiation induced color-center was formed in the LED housing cap made of transparent plastic or acryl material. The beam degradations of high luminance LEDs by high dose-rate gammaray irradiation are analyzed using color CCD image processing technology.

  • Recently natural characteristics and esthetics have been interested increasing in clinical dentistry. Thus the evaluation of the shade of dental porcelain has become an important part in dental research. Noritake Super Porcelain EX-3 Vita shade A2 (Noritake, Japan) Vintage HaLo Vita shade A2 (Shofu, Japan), Vita omega 900 Vitapan 3D-master shade 2M2 (Vita, Germany) were conducted for six times for repeated firing in a way to observe the change of color with respect to the number of firing. The repeated firing was implemented with the vacuum firing and air firing, and by using Shade Eye-EX Chroma meter (Shofu, U.S.A.), the changes in values of shade, value and chroma were compared. With the above results, the change of color was not noticed only in Vita when repeated firing was applied.
