  • The Hsu-Robbins-erd s theorem states that if {$X_m,n\geq1$} is a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables, then ${EX_1}^2<\infty$ and $EX_1$=0 if and only if ${\sum_{n=1}}^\infty\;P($\mid${\sum_{k=1}}^nX_k$\mid$\geqn\in)<\infty$ for every $\in$ > 0. Under some auxiliary conditions, Sp taru (1994) extended this to the case where the $X_n$ are independent, but their distributions come from a finite set. Pruss (1996) proved Sp taru's result under weaker conditions, The purpose of this paper is to improve Pruss conditions.

  • In this note the geometric realization of a finite group of homotopy classes of self homotopy equivalences by a finite group of diffeomorphisms is investigated. In order for this to be accomplished an algebraic condition, which guarantees a certain group extension exists, must be satisfied. It is shown for a geometrically interesting class of aspherical manifolds, called injective Seifert fiber spaces over a locally symmetric space, that this necessary algebraic condition is also sufficient for geometric realization.

  • In this paper we prove two independent theorems concerning formality of a nilmanifold and a differential graded algebra using the well-known theorem of Deligne-Griffiths-Morgan-Sullivan. We first give a rational homotopy theoretic proof to the statement that a nilmanifold is formal if and only if it is a torus. And then we study some conditions with which formality of one dga implies formality of the other in an extension of dga's.

  • In this paper we introduce the concept of fuzzy integrals for set-valued mappings, which is an extension of fuzzy integrals for single-valued functions defined by Sugeno. And we give some properties including convergence theorems on fuzzy integrals for set-valued mappings.

  • As a continuation of the paper [3], in this paper we investigate the further properties on LI-ideals, and show that how to generate an LI-ideal by both and LI-ideal and an element. We define a prime LI-ideal, and give an equivalent condition for a proper LI-ideal to be prime. Using this result, we establish the extension property and prime LI-ideal theorem.

  • Let (X,d) be a metric space and let T be a mapping from X into itself. We say that a metric space (X,d) is T-orbitally complete if every Cauchy sequence of the form ${T^{n_i}x}_{i \in N}$ for $x \in X$ converges to a point in X.

  • In this note we prove an invariance principle for strictly stationary linear positive quadrant dependent sequences, satifying some assumption on the covariance structure, $0 < \sum Cov(X_1,X_j) < \infty$. This result is an extension of Burton, Dabrowski and Dehlings' invariance principle for weakly associated sequences to LPQD sequences as well as an improvement of Newman's central limit theorem for LPQD sequences.

  • Let D be an integral domain, X be an indeterminate over D, D[X] be the polynomial ring over D, and D(X) be the Nagata ring of D. Let [d] be the star operation on D[X], which is an extension of the d-operation on D as in [5, Theorem 2.3]. In this paper, we show that D is a sharp domain if and only if D[X] is a [d]-sharp domain, if and only if D(X) is a sharp domain.

  • The object of this paper is to introduce the concept of a pair of semi-compatible self-maps in a fuzzy metric space to establish a fixed point theorem for four self-maps. It offers an extension of Vasuki [10] to four self-maps under the assumption of semi-compatibility and compatibility, repsectively. At the same time, these results give the alternate results of Grebiec [5] and Vasuki [9] as well.

  • In a series of papers [3, 4, 5], the author developed the generalized vector variational inequality with operator solutions (in short, GOVVI) by exploiting variational inequalities with operator solutions (in short, OVVI) due to Domokos and $Kolumb\acute{a}n$ [2]. In this note, we give an extension of the previous work [4] in the setting of Hausdorff locally convex spaces. To be more specific, we present an existence of solutions of (GVVI) under the weak pseudomonotonicity introduced in Yu and Yao [7] within the framework of (GOVVI).
