  • In this paper, we propose a two step Binary Exponential search algorithm for rapid acquisition time of UWB(Ultra Wide Band) signal on UWB communication systems. Previous proposed timing acquisition algorithm is searching whole frame that consist of the number of n Bins to terminate search, however this paper proposed two step Binary Exponential search algorithm can achieve remarkable reduction of UWB signal acquisition time as limiting search group. Proposed search algorithm is consisting of search group establishment step and Bit Reversing of search group establishment step.

  • The objectives of this thesis are : first, to estimate the parameters and Pr[X < Y] in the Marshall and Olkin's Bivariate Exponential Distribution ; and secondly, to compare the Bayes estimators of Pr[X < Y] with maximum likelihood estimator of Pr[X < Y] in the Marshall and Olkin's Bivariate Exponential Distribution. Through the Monte Carlo Simulation, we observed that the Bayes estimators of Pr[X < Y] perform better than the maximum likelihood estimator of Pr[X < Y] and the Bayes estimator of Pr[X < Y] with gamma prior distribution performs better than with vague prior distribution with respect to bias and mean squared error in the Marshall and Olkin's Bivariate Exponential Distribution.

  • Two explicit estimators of the scale parameter in an exponential distribution based on Type-II censored samples are proposed by appropriately approximating the likelihood function. Then two type tests, including the modified Cramer-von Mises test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test are developed for the exponential distribution based on Type-II censored samples by using the proposed estimators. For each test, Monte Carlo techniques are used to generate critical values. The powers of these tests are investigated under several alternative distributions.

  • It has been known that the exponentiated exponential distribution can be used as a possible alternative to the gamma distribution or the Weibull distribution in many situations. But the maximum likelihood method does not admit explicit solutions when the sample is multiply censored. So we derive the approximate maximum likelihood estimators for the location and scale parameters in the exponentiated exponential distribution that are explicit function of order statistics. We also compare the proposed estimators in the sense of the mean squared error for various censored samples.

  • Two exponential inequalities are established for a wide class of general weakly dependent sequences of random variables, called ${\psi}$-weakly dependent process which unify weak dependence conditions such as mixing, association, Gaussian sequences and Bernoulli shifts. The ${\psi}$-weakly dependent process includes, for examples, stationary ARMA processes, bilinear processes, and threshold autoregressive processes, and includes essentially all classes of weakly dependent stationary processes of interest in statistics under natural conditions on the process parameters. The two exponential inequalities are established on more general conditions than some existing ones, and are proven in simpler ways.

  • In this paper, we will prove the superstability of the following generalized Pexider type exponential equation $${f(x+y)}^m=g(x)h(y)$$, where $f,g,h\;:\;G{\rightarrow}\mathbb{R}$ are unknown mappings and $m$ is a fixed positive integer. Here G is an Abelian group (G, +), and $\mathbb{R}$ the set of real numbers. Also we will extend the obtained results to the Banach algebra. The obtained results are generalizations of P. G$\check{a}$vruta's result in 1994 and G. H. Kim's results in 2011.

  • A single blow, transient testing method for determining the heat transfer characteristics of heat exchanger surfaces are presented. The exponential inlet temperature variations were made using screen mesh with small time constant and frontal velocities of the test section. The system is used to investigate the usefulness of a model with exponential inlet temperature variations. A data reduction program is developed to calculate the temporally and spatially averaged heat transfer coefficient using the measured disturbance and response of the fluid temperature. The results are compared with the existing theoretical and experimental data for parallel plate stacks. It was recommended to take an average for the time greater than the 99% of the final temperature had reached in order to obtain fairly good results.

  • By employing coincidence degree theory and using Halanay-type inequality technique, a sufficient condition is given to guarantee the existence and global exponential stability of periodic solutions for the two-dimensional discrete-time Cohen-Grossberg BAM neural networks. Compared with the results in existing papers, in our result on the existence of periodic solution, the boundedness conditions on the activation are replaced with global Lipschitz conditions. In our result on the existence and global exponential stability of periodic solution, the assumptions in existing papers that the value of activation functions at zero is zero are removed.

  • Since Sheffer introduced the so-called Sheffer polynomials in 1939, the polynomials have been extensively investigated, applied and classified. In this paper, by using matrix algebra, specifically, some properties of Pascal and Wronskian matrices, we aim to present certain interesting identities involving the 2-variable truncated exponential based Sheffer polynomial sequences. Also, we use the main results to give some interesting identities involving so-called 2-variable truncated exponential based Miller-Lee type polynomials. Further, we remark that a number of different identities involving the above polynomial sequences can be derived by applying the method here to other combined generating functions.

  • The main focus when developing software is to improve the reliability and stability of a software system. We are enjoying a very comfortable life thanks to modern civilization, however, comfort is not guaranteed to us. Once software systems are introduced, the software systems used in the field environments are the same as or close to those used in the development-testing environment; however, the systems may be used in many different locations. Development of software system is a difficult and complex process. Generally, existing software reliability models are applied to software testing data and then used to make predictions on the software failures and reliability in the field. In this paper, we present an improved exponential NHPP software reliability model in different development environments, and examine the goodness-of-fit of improved exponential model and other model based on two datasets. The results show that the proposed model fits significantly better than other NHPP software reliability model.
