사료분진의 폭발특성에 관한 연구 (A study of flour dust explosion)

  • This study examined into property of flour dust explosion to get the basic data for safety of industry by protecting accident of dust explosion. The experiment was conducted to know the effect of distance between explodes in the experiment device, effect of flour dust concentration, effect of humidity, effect of explosion pressure to the dust concentration and effect of inactive substance additive. The study indicated that explosion was happened effectively at the optimum distance 100mm or less in inter-polar distance, and minimum ignition energy was measured at 6mm. The data of feed concentration to the probability of explosion showed that the smaller the particle diameter was, the larger probability of explosion was, and the higher the dust concentration was, the more increased the pressure of explosion was, but more than upper limit of dust concentration, then the explosion of pressure decreased. For the effect of humidity, the more it contained water, the more decreased the ignition energy of dust was, so increased minimum explosive concentration, and effective water content was minimum 10% or more. Inactive substance additive was effective in adding more than 15% CaCO3 and CaO as substance inhibiting dust explosion, in which CaCO3 was more effective than CaO. the analysis of the flame of dust explosion was performed by high-speed video camera, it showed the size of flame bacame smaller in order that sub feed, main feed, wheat powder. As a result, sub feed was expected to be less dangerous than others.

스티렌 모노머 화재폭발사고 피해예측 분석에 관한 연구 (A study on damage prediction analysis for styrene monomer fire explosion accidents)

  • 본 연구는 석유 화학사 생산공장에 설치된 스티렌 모노머 저장 탱크의 화구(fireball)와 증기운 폭발(VCE)에 대한 최악의 시나리오를 선정하고 피해 예측 및 사고영향을 분석하였다. 혼합잔사유 저장 탱크의 주성분인 스티렌 모노머 이상중합반응 시 화구(fireball)와 증기운 폭발(VCE)로 인한 복사열과 과압의 영향 범위는 e-CA 사고 피해 예측 프로그램을 적용하여 정량 분석하였다. 복사열과 폭발 과압의 피해 영향 범위는 각 최대 반경 1,150m와 626m로 분석된다. 복사열 4kW/m2이 미치는 1,150m 이내 사람은 20초 동안 노출 시 피부가 부풀어 오를 수 있다. 폭발 과압 21kPa이 미치는 626m 이내 건축물은 철 구조물의 손상과 기초에서 이탈될 수 있고, 사람은 신체 부상할 수 있다. 화재, 폭발 또는 누출 사고 발생 시 복사열, 과압에 의한 사업장 내 근로자, 인근 주민 또는 주변 시설물 등의 위험 정도와 수용 여부 위험 기준을 판단하고, 취급 물질 유해·위험성 파악, 비상대응체계 구축, 개선 및 투자 활동 등을 통해 사업장 피해 최소화 대책을 수립하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

다중벽 탄소나노튜브의 분진폭발 특성 (Dust Explosion Characteristics of Multi-Walled Carbon Nano Tube)

  • 가연성 분진이 제조 취급되는 공정에서의 분진폭발 위험성은 항상 존재한다. 그러나 산업현장에서 취급되는 분진에 대한 분진폭발 특성 정보는 아주 미흡한 실정으로 사업장에서는 화학사고 예방대책 수립에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구에서는 입도분포가 다른 두 종류의 다중벽 탄소나노튜브(MWCNT)에 대한 분진폭발 특성을 실험적으로 조사하였으며, NFPA 499 Code를 적용하여 MWCNT 제조 취급 공정의 분진폭발 위험장소 구분을 검토하였다. 그 결과 평균입도가 $124.2{\mu}m$인 MWCNT 1의 $P_{max}$, $K_{st}$, LEL, MIE, 및 MIT는 각각 6.3 bar, $56bar{\cdot}m/s$, $125g/m^3$, 1000 mJ 초과 및 $650^{\circ}C$ 초과로 나타났다. 평균입도가 $293.5{\mu}m$인 MWCNT 2의 $P_{max}$, $K_{st}$, LEL, MIE, MIT는 각각 6.2 bar, $42bar{\cdot}m/s$, $100g/m^3$, 1000 mJ 초과 및 $650^{\circ}C$ 초과로 나타났다. NFPA 499 Code에 따른 MWCNT 1, 2의 폭발강도와 점화감도는 각각 0.35와 0.01 미만으로 나타났기 때문에 MWCNT는 NFPA 499 Code에서 제시된 분진폭발 위험장소로 구분하여야 하는 가연성 분진으로 분류되지 않았다.

회분식 공정에서 스플래쉬 필링(Splash Filling) 작업으로 인한 화재·폭발 사고 예방대책에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prevention Measures against Fire and Explosion Accidents during Splash Filling in Batch Process)

  • 일반적으로 인화성 액체를 사용하여 제품을 만들어 내는 회분식 반응 공정에서는 작업 후 반응기 세척(Cleaning) 시 제품 생산을 위해 사용되는 원료인 인화성 액체를 일정압력으로 분사하여 반응기 벽면 등을 세척하는 스플래쉬 필링(Splash Filling) 형태의 작업 방법을 적용한다. 이러한 작업과정에서 인화성 액체의 미스트 등이 발생하여 폭발하한계가 낮아지며 유동대전, 충돌대전, 분출대전과 같이 여러 형태의 복합 대전에 따른 방전현상으로 화재·폭발이 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 최근의 사고사례를 바탕으로 회분식 공정에서 톨루엔을 통한 스플래쉬 필링(Splash Filling) 형태의 작업 시 위험성을 파악하고 당량법을 이용한 폭발영향분석을 수행하여 사고결과를 분석하여 이러한 사고를 예방하기 위한 상시적 불활성화, 세척 방법 개선, 탄탈럼 사용 등의 예방대책을 제시하고자 한다.

INVESTIGATIONS ON THE RESOLUTION OF SEVERE ACCIDENT ISSUES FOR KOREAN NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS

  • Under the government supported long-term nuclear R&D program, the severe accident research program at KAERI is directed to investigate unresolved severe accident issues such as core debris coolability, steam explosions, and hydrogen combustion both experimentally and numerically. Extensive studies have been performed to evaluate the in-vessel retention of core debris through external reactor vessel cooling concept for APR1400 as a severe accident management strategy. Additionally, an improvement of the insulator design outside the vessel was investigated. To address steam explosions, a series of experiments using a prototypic material was performed in the TROI facility. Major parameters such as material composition and void fraction as well as the relevant physics affecting the energetics of steam explosions were investigated. For hydrogen control in Korean nuclear power plants, evaluation of the hydrogen concentration and the possibility of deflagration-to-detonation transition occurrence in the containment using three-dimensional analysis code, GASFLOW, were performed. Finally, the integrated severe accident analysis code, MIDAS, has been developed for domestication based on MELCOR. The data transfer scheme using pointers was restructured with the modules and the derived-type direct variables using FORTRAN90. New models were implemented to extend the capability of MIDAS.

CURRENT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES ON FISSION PRODUCTS AND HYDROGEN RISK AFTER THE ACCIDENT AT FUKUSHIMA DAIICHI NUCLEAR POWER STATION

  • After the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (NPP) accident, new regulatory requirements were enforced in July 2013 and a backfit was required for all existing nuclear power plants. It is required to take measures to prevent severe accidents and mitigate their radiological consequences. The Regulatory Standard and Research Department, Secretariat of Nuclear Regulation Authority (S/NRA/R) has been conducting numerical studies and experimental studies on relevant severe accident phenomena and countermeasures. This article highlights fission product (FP) release and hydrogen risk as two major areas. Relevant activities in the S/NRA/R are briefly introduced, as follows: 1. For FP release: Identifying the source terms and leak mechanisms is a key issue from the viewpoint of understanding the progression of accident phenomena and planning effective countermeasures that take into account vulnerabilities of containment under severe accident conditions. To resolve these issues, the activities focus on wet well venting, pool scrubbing, iodine chemistry (in-vessel and ex-vessel), containment failure mode, and treatment of radioactive liquid effluent. 2. For hydrogen risk: because of three incidents of hydrogen explosion in reactor buildings, a comprehensive reinforcement of the hydrogen risk management has been a high priority topic. Therefore, the activities in evaluation methods focus on hydrogen generation, hydrogen distribution, and hydrogen combustion.

중소규모 화학업종을 위한 자율점검표 개발 연구 (A Study on the Development of Self-Checklists for Small and Medium-Sized Chemical Industries)

  • Major industrial accidents in which workers die due to fires or explosions while working at chemical substance handling workplaces continue to occur. Among the major industrial accidents that occurred between 2005 and 2021, the accident status by work situation and equipment was analyzed. Through analysis, it was confirmed that storage, reaction, and piping facilities were the main causes of the accident, and a self-checklist for each facility was developed. Verification was conducted through the supply and use groups to evaluate the suitability of the use, duties, and items of the self-checklist. The user group showed higher satisfaction than the supplier group for all three suitability of use, job, and item. In particular, since the inspection items of the self-checklist were organized around the cause of the accident derived through the analysis of actual accident cases, the satisfaction level was high in all groups. It is expected that the self-checklist developed through this study will be useful not only for large companies but also for small and medium-sized chemical industries that lack professional manpower.

폭발하중을 받는 보강판 구조물의 간이 해석법에 대한 실용성 검토 (A Review on Practical Use of Simple Analysis Method based on SDOF Model for the Stiffened Plate Structures subjected to Blast Loads)

  • The offshore installation units may be subjected to various accidental loads such as collision from supply vessels, impact from dropped objects, blast load from gas explosion and thermal load from fire. This paper deals with the design and strength evaluation method of the stiffened plate structures in response to a blast load caused by a gas explosion accident. It is a comprehensive review of various items used in actual project such as the size and type of the explosive loads, general design procedure/concept and analysis method. The structural analyses using simple analysis methods based on SDOF model and nonlinear finite element analysis are applied to the particular FPSO project. Also validation studies on the design guidance given by simple analysis method based on SDOF model have also considered several items such as backpressure effects, material behavior and duration time of the overpressure. A good correlation between the prediction made by simple analysis method based on SDOF model and nonlinear finite element analysis can be generally obtained up to the elastic limit.

무선 인터넷 GIS를 이용한 도시재해관리시스템구축 (Construction of The Urban Disaster Management System Using the Wireless Internet GIS)

  • 현대도시는 여러 가지 원인으로 인하여 각종 재해가 발생하고 있다. 또한 재해의 발생 빈도가 증가하고 대형화되고 있는 시점에서 이들을 효과적으로 대처하기 위한 재해관리시스템이 필요하게 되었다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 급격한 차량의 증가로 인해 도시생활에서 가장 큰 재해로 지적되고 있는 교통사고와 사고발생 시 대형재해를 일으키는 가스재해 및 유지 보수의 중요성이 커지고 있는 교량 재해를 중심으로 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 이에 본 연구는 실시간 정보의 제공을 가능케 하는 무선 인터넷 GIS를 이용하여 재해발생 시 현장에서 재해관리 데이터베이스에 접근하고, 신속하게 현장정보를 확인하여, 재해상황에 효과적으로 대처하며, 즉시 재해정보를 수정, 갱신할 수 있는 재해관리시스템을 개발하였다.
