  • Recent test data compression techniques raise concerns regarding power dissipation and compression efficiency. This letter proposes a new test data compression scheme, twin symbol encoding, that supports block division skills that can reduce hardware overhead. Our experimental results show that the proposed technique achieves both a high compression ratio and low-power dissipation. Therefore, the proposed scheme is an attractive solution for efficient test data compression.

  • Super-lift dc-dc converters are a series of advanced step-up dc-dc topologies that provide high voltage transfer gains by super-lift techniques. This paper presents a developed graphical modelling method for super-lift converters and gives a thorough analysis with a consideration of the effects caused by parasitic parameters and diodes' forward voltage drop. The general guidelines for constructing and deriving graphical models are provided for system analysis. By applying it to examples, the proposed method shows the advantages of high convenience and feasibility. Both the circuit simulation and experimental results are given to support the theoretical analysis.

  • In this study, we deals with the implementation of an optimal basis identification procedure for interior point methods. Our implementation is based on Megiddo’s strongly polynomial algorithm applied to Andersen and Ye’s approximate LP construction. Several techniques are explained such as the use of effective indicator for obtaining optimal partition when constructing the approximate LP, the efficient implementation of the problem reduction technique proposed by Andersen, the crashing procedure needed for fast dual phase of Megiddo’s algorithm and the construction of the stable initial basis. By experimental comparison, we show that our implementation is superior to the crossover scheme implementation.

  • Rheological techniques are frequently used to characterize particulate suspensions and polymer systems. Experimental data frequently show that similar trends and characteristics are found in both systems. Using common examples and illustrations of the rheological behaviour, we attempt to bring together these separate fields and investigate the common links in the different systems. In many cases the similar rheological behaviour observed in these different systems can be related to the same basic physical principles.

  • This study suggests an accelerated genetic algorithm for the vehicle routing problem (AGAVRP). This algorithm treats both the single-visit and the multiple-visit models. AGAVRP is accelerated by the OR techniques at the various stages of the algorithm. In order to improve the convergence of AGAVRP, a robust set of parameters is determined by the experimental design approach. The relative performance of AGAVRP is comparable to the other known algorithms. The advantage of the proposed algorithm is flexibility and better convergence.

  • The importance of plant factory which blend agriculture and manufacture has been discussed widely. This company has researched hydroponics technique for cultivation which has been mainly developed in the sites of Okinawa and Hyougo Prefecture. In 1987, we stopped the previous research there, and started a new one far plant factory at the Agricultural Research Center of Chiba Prefecture. In 1989, we built four experimental plant factories (120㎡) at Chiba Oil Factory Refinery in Ichihara-city, developing techniques of cultivation, equipment production and environmental control for cultivation system of tomato, strawberry and leaf vegetables. • MAGLEV is the vehicle which can run in levitated condition by the electro-magnets, and the vehicle can run without any contact condition. In MAGLEV system achieving a high magnetic field for minimum weight is a noteworthy goal. Unfortunately the two aspects of this goal high field and low weight are contradictory. Suitable designs must be sought using optimization techniques. In this paper, magnet attraction force is calculated and conformed by experimental data for designing a electro-magnet.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel synthesis method of GBSB(Generalized BSB)-based neural autoassociative memories in which we analyze qualitative properties of GBSB model, recast a design problem of an associative memory to LMIP(Linear Matrix Inequality Problem), and optimize the LMIP using LMI techniques. The obtained memory satisfies many of the required properties of associative memories and has some peculiar properties. Comparing experimental results with those of others, we show its correctness and effectiveness.

  • Fuzzy techniques can be applied in many domains of computer vision community. The definition of an adequate similarity measure for measuring the similarity between fuzzy sets is of great importance in the field of image processing, image retrieval and pattern recognition. This paper proposes a new class of the similarity measures. The properties, sensitivity and effectiveness of the proposed measures are investigated and tested on real data. Experimental results show that these similarity measures can provide a useful way for measuring the similarity between fuzzy sets.

  • In this paper, we propose novel computational reconstruction technique of three-dimensional objects in integral imaging by use of a lenslet array. We applied our technique to two different integral imaging systems according the distance between lenslet array and elemental image plane. Experimental results are presented and discussed as well.
