  • Purpose: The study attempted to examine whether the group art therapy using a collage medium and reminiscence therapy prevented or reversed dementia, prevented depression, and improved the quality of life of elderly women at high risk for dementia in community public health centers. Methods: As a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group, this study used a pre-post design. The subjects consisted of a random sample of women over 65 years of age who had been registered as being at high-risk for dementia at the Public Health Center of the G City, and the Dementia Support Center. Of these elders, 30 were assigned to the experimental group and 33 to the control group. The intervention was conducted twice a week for 5 weeks. $x^2$-test, t-test, Wilcoxon test were used to analyze the data. Results: After the program, cognitive function, depression, and quality of life were significantly better in the experimental group than in the control group. Conclusion: The group art therapy can be utilized in community-based nursing practices by identifying and registering those who are at high risk for dementia. The results should prove useful when designing future intervention strategies targeting elderly individuals residing in communities.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of group art therapy on the withdrawn behavior, social behavior, social problems, anxiousness/depression, internalizing problems, total behavior problems and self-esteem in children who are withdrawn. Method: A randomized controlled pre-post test design was used. The participants were 31 children who were withdrawn attending J. P. Elementary School in Pohang City. Sixteen were assigned to the experimental group and 15 to the control group. The program consisted of 20 sessions of 80 minutes per session, 2 days a week, for 10 weeks. Instruments used for this study were the Children's Behavior Check List -Korean version (K-CBCL) and a self-esteem inventory. The data were analyzed using fisher exact test and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Thescores for withdrawn behavior, social problems, anxiousness/depression, internalizing problems and total behavior problems decreased significantly in the experimental group as compare to the control group. Social behavior and self-esteem increased significantly in the experimental group as compared to the control group. Conclusions: This study provides evidence for the pontential and beneficial effects of group art therapy in children who are withdrawn. The program could be adequately used to improve problem behavior in withdrawn children.

  • The effects of an anti-rolling tank (ART) on vessel motions were numerically investigated. The potential-based BEM vessel motion simulation program and particle-based computational fluid dynamics program were dynamically coupled and used to perform a simulation of vessel motions with ART. From the time domain simulation results, the response amplitude operators for sway and roll motions were obtained and compared with the corresponding experimental and numerical results. Because the main purpose of ART was only to reduce roll motions, it was important to show that the natural properties of a floating vessel were not changed by the effects of ART. Various ART filling ratios and several ART positions were considered. In conclusion, ART only reduced the roll motion regardless of its filling ratio and position.

To aid in the understanding of interaction directing module, two examples of art works are used as samples cases - "Room Two"(Mixing Lab in a museum; Interactive media art & Experimental mixing, Seoul Art Center, 2006) and a RPG(Role-playing game) style Game. Through these cases, this study intends to enhance the yet insufficient reference for interactive media art and assist artists attempting interactive media moving images through interactive media.
