The rate constants of the hydrogen-deuterium exchange of 8-CH groups in 5'-rAMP and 5'-GMP were measured by laser Raman spectroscopy. The Arrhenius activation energies calculated from the rate constants measured as a function of temperature were similar for both compounds. However, the effects of pD on exchange rate constants were different for the two compounds. Our kinetic data support the exchange reaction mechanism involving an ylide type intermediate.

The contemporary society needs complex space for multiple function. Interior space plan should suggest the solution of the narrow site and process for multiple function through showing the examples of other functional spaces. The purpose of this study is choosing an express station which has wide site and cultural exchange function, while it is not used for specific function and then the waiting room of station adapted for cultural and multiple functional space.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of nutrition education on nutrition knowledge, dietary attitude and dietary intake of Chinese college students in Korea. The subjects were 64 Chinese college students in Korea (educated group, 32 students vs. non-educated group, 32 students). Educated group was lessoned as group and/or individual. Nutrition education program consisted of four lessons (40min/lesson), '6 major nutrients & function (group lesson)', '6 food group and sources (group lesson)', 'personalized daily needed energy and food exchange units using Food Exchange System (individual lesson)', and 'smart choice of snacks and eating-out foods (group lesson)'. We examined the differences between educated group and non-educated group in nutrition knowledge, dietary attitudes and nutrients intake. After education, there were positive improvements on nutrition knowledge: 'function and foods of 6 nutrients', on dietary attitudes: 'type of breakfast' in educated group. In the evaluation of nutrient intakes according to Dietary Reference Intakes for Korean (KDRI), there were positive improvements on intake levels of riboflavin, fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin C, folate, Ca and K in the educated group. In the index of nutrition quality (INQ), nutrition adequacy ratio (NAR) and mean nutrition adequacy ratio (MAR) were significantly increased in the educated group. In conclusion, it is possible to improve nutrition knowledge, dietary attitude and dietary intake of Chinese college students in Korea through the nutrition education focused on personalized daily needed energy and food exchange units.

The international standard AIS, which stands for the safety of ship navigation and vessel traffic management, provides 27 messages to exchange the navigational information of ship. Among 27 messages, message ID 6 and 8 are defined as the binary data format to exchange application specific information and are classified into IFM for international use and RFM for national or regional use. Since international standards are based on English, there have been some needs to exchange data in Hangul text for vessel traffic management to correct the static and dynamic ships' information. In this paper, I analyze international standards to provide a Hangul text messaging service based on RFM and propose a RFM message and a simple protocol to correct information of a ship.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of a nutrition education focused on Food Exchange System for the higher grades elementary children. Nutrition education lessons (40 min/lesson, 4 times), '5 major nutrients and functions', '6 food groups', 'daily needed energy and food exchange units', 'good choice of snacks and balanced exercise' were provided to elementary students (5th grade students). This research was based on the data from two groups of elementary school children in the 'education' group (n = 31) and 'non-education' group (n = 31). We assessed the changes in dietary attitude, food habit and nutrition knowledge using questionnaire and nutrient intake using 24hr recall method by nutrition education using the developed pamphlet. After education, there was a significant difference in the dietary attitude score only in attitude of 'balanced meal' (p < 0.001) in the education group compared to the non-education group. In food habit, there were significant positive changes in the type of breakfast and in the priority of choosing snack in the educated group. In nutrition knowledge, there were significant increases in scores of 'function of carbohydrate' (p < 0.05), 'function of fat' (p < 0.01), 'function of vitamin' (p < 0.01), 'foods of carbohydrate' (p < 0.01), and 'foods of vitamin' (p < 0.01) in the educated group. After education, carbohydrate: protein: fat (CPF) ratio was significantly different between the two groups (education group, 59 : 16 : 26 vs. non-education group, 63 : 15 : 23). In evaluation of nutrient intake by Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans (KDRIs), there were significant positive effects in energy (p < 0.05), thiamin (p < 0.05), riboflavin (p < 0.05), vitamin C (p < 0.05), phosphorus (p < 0.01), Fe (p < 0.01) and zinc (p < 0.01) in the education group compared to the non-education group. In conclusion, the developed 4 times' nutritional education pamphlet focused on individual daily energy requirements and food exchange units using food exchange system for higher grades' elementary student may positively change nutrition knowledge and dietary intakes.

Protein phosphorylation is one of most important post-translational modifications (PTMs) and plays an important role in regulation of protein function. Here we develop a method for a global identification of phosphopeptides and phosphorylation sites using nano-LC MS/MS. We compared two separation methods, C4 and strong cation ion exchange (SCX). Before phosphopeptides enrichment with $TiO_2$, total proteins from Rat 1 cells have been separated using C4 column or tryptic peptides of proteins from the cells have been separated using SCX column. Finally, we have detected 52 phosphorylation sites on 41 proteins from SCX method and 375 phosphorylation sites on 252 proteins from C4 method, and determined the function and localization of identified phosphoproteins using DAVID software. In particular, we showed new phosphorylation sites from membrane proteins related to various cell signaling mechanisms. This method may contribute to study global signal networks induced by various signals including ligands and drugs.

RNAs exhibit distinct structural and dynamic features required for proper function. The hydrogen-bonded imino protons of RNAs are a probe of the conformational transition and dynamic feature. MicroRNAs originate from primary transcripts containing hairpin structures. The levels of mature miR156 influence the flowering time of plants. To understand the molecular mechanism of biological function of $miR156:miR156^*$ duplex, we performed hydrogen exchange study on the model RNAs mimicking two phenotypes of $miR156:miR156^*$, $miR156:miR156^*$ (m-miR156a) and $miR156:miR156^*$ (m-miR156g) duplexes. This study found that the internal bulge of m-miR156a destabilized the neighboring base-pairs, whereas the bulge structure of m-miR156g did not affect the thermal stabilities of the neighboring base-pairs.

The aim of this study is to examine the impact of board of directors' activity on the audit committee's effectiveness score among manufactured listed companies on Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) for the period 2015-2017. The final sample of this study consists of 195 firm-year observations that represent manufactured companies listed on Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) for the years 2015-2017. The data of this study in terms of board of directors' meetings, audit committee size and meetings, firm leverage, firm performance, and firm age were hand-collected from the annual reports of the considered companies. The Pooled OLS regression's result indicate that audit committee's effectiveness score is influenced by the board of directors' activity. This result gives support to the agency theory prediction. This result is also consistent with the complementary function of corporate governance mechanisms in which board of directors' activity complements the function of audit committee's effectiveness score. The result of this study should be useful for manufacturing companies, Saudi Stock Exchange, auditors, and regulators which relates to the association between board of directors' activity and audit committee's effectiveness score. This study provides a new empirical evidence on the impact of board activity on the audit committee's effectiveness score in an interesting context which is Saudi Arabia.

Mechanical ventilation is usually the treatment of choice for severe respiratory failure associated with trauma. However, in case of severe hypoxia, mechanical ventilation may not be sufficient for gas exchange in lungs. Patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) undergo difficulties in oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange. Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is the ideal therapeutic option for those patients with severe traumatic injuries. ECMO allows lungs to reserve their functions and decreases further lung injuries while increasing survival rate at the same time. We report two cases of patients with traumatic ARDS and Multiple Organ Failure including compromised heart function. The preservation of lung function was successful using ECMO therapy.
