We synthesized new blue and bluish green emitting materials by using fully substituted ethylene moieties. Multi-layered EL devices were fabricated with synthesized materials and evaluated in terms of emission color and luminescence efficiency. BPBAPE[EML 4] having high $T_g$ of $155^{\circ}C$ showed luminance and power efficiency of 10.33cd/A and 4.0 lm/W without any doping agent. BTBPPA[EML 5] exhibited 5cd/A and 1.67lm/W efficiency with blue CIE value of (0.165, 0.195).
Based on fallen leaves of major Korean conifer species 'Pinus densiflora' and major Korean broadleaved species 'Quercus variabilis', this study sought to identify combustion emission gas types and measure their concentration by means of FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) spectrometer. As a result, it was found that there were total 13 types of combustion gas detected from fallen leaves of Pinus densiflora and Quercus variabilis, such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, acetic acid, butyl acetate, ethylene, methane, methanol, nitrogen dioxide, ammonia, hydrogen fluoride, sulfur dioxide and hydrogen bromide. Notably, nitrogen monoxide was additionally detected from fallen leaves of Quercus variabilis. It was found that the overall concentration of combustion gas emitted from the fallen leaves of Pinus densiflora was 4.5 times higher than that from fallen leaves of Quercus variabilis. Particularly, it was found that emission concentration of some combustion emission gas types like carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and butyl acetate exceeded the upper limit of their time-weighted average (TWA, ppm), while the emission concentration of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide exceeded their short-term exposure limit (STEL, ppm) for both species. Thus, it was found that carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide have higher hazard to health than other gas types, because these two gas types account for higher than 99% of overall gas emission due to combustion of surface fire starting from litter layer in forest.

Using gas chromatography, the light hydrocarbon emissions were analyzed from SI engine fueled with methane and liquified petroleum gas(LPG), and the effects of fuel and engine operating condition were discussed. For this purpose, 14 species of light hydrocarbon including 1, 3-butadiene were separated, calibrated with standard gas, and measured from undiluted emissions. The brake specific hydrocarbon emission(BSHC) and ozone forming potential(BSO)3 were calculated and discussed with the changes of fuel, engine speed, load, fuel/air equivalence ratio, coolant temperature, and spark timing. As a result, exhaust emission was composed of mainly fuel composed of mainly fuel comp- onent and other olefin components of similar carbon number. The olefin components such as ethylene and propylene determine most of the ozone forming potential. The fraction of fuel component in total hydrocarbon emission was bigger with methane fuel than with LPG fuel. Also fuel fraction increased at high speed or high speed or high temperature of exhaust gas, and to lesser extent with high coolant temperature and retarded spark. However, the effect of equivalence ratio had different tendency according to fuels.
In this paper, the effect of oxygen component in fuel on the exhaust emissions has been investigated for a direct injection diesel engine. It was tested to estimate change of engine performance and exhaust emission characteristics for the commercial diesel fuel and oxygenated blended fuel which has seven kinds of mixed ratio. And, the effects of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) on the characteristics of NOx emission have been investigated. Ethylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether(EGBE) contains oxygen component 27% in itself, and it is a kind of effective oxygenated fuel of mono-ether group that the smoke emission of EGBE blended fuel is reduced remarkably compared with commercial diesel fuel, that is, it can supply oxygen component sufficiently at higher loads and speeds in a diesel engine. It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx was achieved with oxygenated fuel and cooled EGR method.

In this study, an experimental approach to measure a suite of low weight hydrocarbons was investigated with an emphasis on ethylene (EL) along with many others (ethane (EA), propane (PA), propylene (PL), n-butane (BA), acetylene (AL), methyl acetylene (ML)). Their concentrations were quantified using GC-FID system equipped with thermal desorption (TD) system. The TD-based analysis was conducted using both Link Tube/Thermal Desorber (LT/TD) method and Modified Injection through a Thermal Desorption (MITD) method. The results of these analyses were evaluated in a number of respects. The system allowed the detection of all compounds except methane with the mean response factor (RF) of 10.28 (EA) to 11.94 (PL). The method detection limits of target compounds were seen in the range of 0.027 (ML) to 0.146 ng (BA). The emission flux of some environmental samples (fruits), when measured using a small flux chamber system, fell in the range of 0.14 (AL: Kiwi) to $181ng{\cdot}g^{-1}{\cdot}hr^{-1}$ (EL: Apple Peel). The results of this study confirm that the experimental approach developed in this study allows to accurately measure emissions of low weight hydrocarbons (LWHC) like ethylene from various natural and man-made source processes.
Experiments were carried out to investigate the characteristics of the hydrocarbon (HC) emissions and to reduce cold start hydrocarbons in gasoline engines. An HC adsorber was, used and it coated was by Pd/Rh catalyst with zeolite on a honeycomb monolith. The HCs were efficiently trapped at temperatures below $100^{\circ}C by physical adsorption. After adsorption, they were reduced gradually by the catalytic oxidation of Pd/Rh catalysts as the adsorber temperature increased above $100^{\circ}C. Increasing amounts of methane, ethylene and n-butane were emitted as the fuel-air mixture became richer and the engine speed decreased. As the temperature of adsorber increased, high-number carbons into low-number carbons. Thus, the C4 concentration decreased significantly during the first 30 seconds, and the C2 concentration increased continuously.

This paper provides the properties of $TiO_2$ nanotube arrays which are fabricated by anodic oxidation of Ti metal. Highly ordered $TiO_2$ nanotube arrays could be obtained by anodic oxidation of Ti foil in $0.3\;wt{\cdot}%$$NH_4F$ contained ethylene glycol solution at $30^{\circ}C$. The length, pore size, wall thickness, tube diameter etc. of $TiO_2$ nanotube arrays were analyzed by field emission scanning electron microscopy. Their crystal properties were studied by field emission transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
Objectives: The purposes of the study were to investigate hazardous pollutant emissions changes among group 1 carcinogens. The emissions characteristics were compared with national cancer registration statistics. Methods: A survey of group 1 carcinogen hazardous pollutant emissions (trichloroethylene, benzene, vinyl chloride, formaldehyde, 1,3-butadiene, ethylene oxide, chromium and its compounds, 3,3'-dichloro-4,4-diaminodiphenylmethane, chloromethyl methyl ether, arsenic and its compounds, cadmium and its compounds, o-toluidine) was conducted through a homepage for 2001-2015. The emission of hazardous chemicals and the cancer trend analysis for 2001-2015 were performed using the Korean statistical information service through its homepage as a reference. Results: Emissions of more than 95% of the substances listed as group 1 carcinogens over the last five years were made up of trichloroethylene, benzene, vinyl chloride, formaldehyde, 1,3-butadiene, and ethylene oxide. As a result of the comparison of emission results and cancer incidence rates, carcinogen pollutant emissions showed a tendency to decrease continuously. In addition, the incidence of cancer tended to increase, but showed a tendency to decrease from 2012. Conclusion: The results indicate hazardous pollutant emissions have continued to increase. However, no association between emissions and health effects was shown and more research is needed.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate changes among the nine kinds of reduction chemical substances in Korea over the period of 2008-2017. We will define basic data for improving the management methods for reducing chemical substances. Methods: A survey of hazardous pollutant emissions for 2008-2017 was conducted through the pollutant Release and Transfer Register homepage. Nine kinds of designated reduction chemical substances (Benzene, Vinyl chloride, Trichloro ethylene, 1,3-butadiene, Dichloro methane, Tetrachloro ethylene, N,N-dimethylformamide, Acrylo nitrile, and Chloroform) provided the study subjects. The emission of hazardous chemicals and health effects used the National Health Statistics and Integrated Chemicals Information System (ICIS) as a reference. Results: Hazardous pollutant emissions increased by 1.2 times over the past decade, and nine types of reduction chemical substances increased by 1.6 times. By region, the emissions of reduction chemical substances over the last 10 years were in the order of Chungbuk, Gyeonggi, and Gyeongbuk. Emissions of Dichloro methane was the highest in Chungbuk and Gyeongbuk. N,N-dimethylformamide was the highest in Gyeonggi. Carcinogen pollutant emissions showed a tendency to increase continuously. In addition, group 1 carcinogen emissions showed a tendency to decrease. Conclusion: In the last decade, the amount of hazardous chemical emissions has been continuously increasing. Hazardous chemical emissions require facility improvement for continuous emissions reduction. More research on reduction of emissions is needed.
Upconversion (UC) properties of Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ spherical particles synthesized by spray pyrolysis were investigated by changing the dopant concentration and calcination temperature. Citric acid (CA), ethylene glycol (EG) and N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) were used to control the microstructure of Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ particles. In terms of achieving the highest UC green emission intensity, the optimal concentrations of Ho3+ and Yb3+ were found to be 0.3% and 3.0%, respectively. In addition, the UC intensity of Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ showed a linear relationship with the crystallite size. The use of organic additives allows Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ particles to have a spherical and dense structure, resulting in significantly reducing the surface area while maintaining high crystallinity. As a result, the UC emission intensity of Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ particles having a dense structure showed the UC emission intensity about 3.8 times higher than that of hollow particles prepared without organic additives. From those results, when Y2O3:Ho3+/Yb3+ particles are prepared by the spray pyrolysis process, the use of the CA/EG/DMF mixtures as organic additives has been suggested as an effective way to substantially increase the UC emission intensity.
