  • LOS analysis is used for optimal deployment of mid-range guided weapon system or system engagement effectiveness simulation. Comparing to real-world, LOS analysis includes error sources such as coarse terrain data resolution, refraction of radio waves, and several ideal assumptions. In this research, exact LOS algorithm under assumption of constant earth curvature and error analysis of that is investigated. It proved that LOS algorithm under assumption of constant earth curvature has negligible error in mid-range guidance weapon system's scope.

  • The purpose of study is to confirm a acceptable range of data errors in data collecting. To examine a acceptable range of data errors, emission level is calculated for a vehicle flow and heavy vehicle percentage as a function of small-sized velocity. According to road selected, noise level of detail influence road noise calculations. It can be concluded that a vehicle flow raised an error less than 5000(veh/h) for a maximum error in emission level of 3.01dB, and the more a heavy vehicle percentage have a low value, the more emission level is a slight difference. This analysis gives insight regarding the accuracy of traffic flow data that is needed to reach a certain level of accuracy for the resulting noise level.

  • The Wavefront Curvature Ranging (WCR) is an estimation method for a source range from the wavefront curvature of acoustic waves. The conventional method uses trigonometry to estimate the source range by assuming the sound speed as a constant. Because of this assumption, range error occurs in the ocean environment where the bottom reflection is clearly separated. In order to reduce the range error, Matched Wavefront Curvature Ranging (MWCR) was proposed applying the sound speed structure in the ocean environment and Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE). The range error was reduced in the results of the simulation on the proposed method. In the future, this method will be applicable to the sonar system if the reliability of ranging is confirmed by measured signal.

  • An automatic TCXO frequency-temperature test apparatus was firstly developed by using thermoelectric device may. The developed system swing stably the test temperature range from -40$^{\circ}C$ to +80$^{\circ}C$ for about 1 hour The rising temperature ratio was fairly linear with time in this test temperature range. The temperature could be controlled error in error range of ${\pm}$0.05$^{\circ}C$ in this system. The frequency-Temperature properties of TCXO or the thermoelectric properties of other electric device.

  • A calculable potential transformer(PT) with nominal ratio error in wide range of -10% to +10% has been developed on basis of theoretical calculation of ratio error by the number of windings. The developed PT can be used to evaluate the linearity and accuracy of the PT comparator by comparing both the theoretical and experimental values of the PT which have exactly same ratio errors in nominal and calculated values. The PT has been applied for calibration and correction of the PT comparator up to wide ratio error range of -10% to +10%. This portable PT is very convenient to carry to the power industry for the on-site calibration of the PT comparator.

  • This study proposed a procedure to improve the error defection of attached cadastral maps using digital map data. In addition, this study also provided the direction for the accuracy improvement of attached cadastral maps by comparing analysis methods. - such as centroid, Lee Sallee shape index, and area index. The analysis is performed as follows. First, by using centroid measurement, the center point of cadastral maps and attached cadastral maps are compared. Secondly by using Lee Sallee shape measurement, the location accuracy of range area is investigated. Thirdly, by using area measurement, the range area within allowable error scope is verified. Based on analysis, the discrepancy between cadastral maps and the attacked cadastral maps are detected as follows; 98.2% from Lee Sallee shape index, 41.8% from centroid, 15.4% from area index in the whole error.

  • We investigate depth measurement error of a range finder based on triangulation method. Geometric analysis resulted in intuitive understanding of the error sensitivity. We show that the depth error is propostional to the distance between the object andthe camera. The measurement value has the highest accuracy when the line connecting the focal point of the camera and the object is perpendicular to the line joining the object and the light source of herange finder. Also we analyze the error using a perturbation method and verify that the results are identical through an experiment.

  • For measuring the error motion of ultra-precision spindle, eliminating the geometric errors is a must. Unless it is achieved, geometric errors will be dominant in data. Here, the roundness error and alignment error between spindle and sensor are to be removed. That's because typical error range of such spindle is muchless than geometric one. A capacitive transducer of cylidricalshape was developed, which takes full advantage of the spatial-averaging effect by using large area compared tpo the geometric error. This idea was first proposed by Chapman and here it is modified for better performance with nomical gap of 50 .mu. m and with newly designed guards which encompass the respective sensor to rectify the electrical field distribution in good shape. The measurement system is made to get the orbit of Ultra-Precision Air Spindle which is supposed to have its runout under 1 .mu. m. The Calibration data of this sensor is presented and the spindle orbit from 2000rpm to 5500rpm is showed. It is quite reasonable to use this sensor in the range of 60 .mu. m with an accuracy of several tens of nm.

  • In this study, according to the reference setting based on the runoff video of 9:00 where the highest water level of 3.94 m has been recorded during the runoff of Cheon-mi Stream in Jeju Island by the attack of Typhoon no. 16 Sanba on September $17^{th}$, 2012, the error rate of long-distance and short-distance velocimetry and real-distance change rate by input error have been calculated and the input range value of reference point by stream has been suggested. In the reference setting process, if a long-distance reference point input error occurs, the real-distance change rate of 0.35 m in the x-axis direction and 1.35 m in y-axis direction is incurred by the subtle input error of 2~11 pixels, and if a short-distance reference point input error occurs, the real-distance change rate of 0.02 m in the x-axis direction and 0.81 m in y-axis direction is incurred by the subtle input error of 1~11 pixels. According to the long-distance reference point setting variable, the velocity error rate showed the range of fluctuation of at least 14.36% to at most 76.06%, and when calculating flux, it showed a great range of fluctuation of at least 20.48% to at most 78.81%.

  • In inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging, An ISAR autofocusing algorithm is essential to obtain well-focused ISAR images. Traditional methods have relied on the approximation that the phase error due to target motion is a function of the cross-range dimension only. However, in the stepped-frequency radar system, it tends to become a two-dimensional function of both down-range and cross-range, especially when target's movement is very fast and the pulse repetition frequency (PRF) is low. In order to remove the phase error along down-range, this paper proposes a method called SAEM (subarray averaging and entropy minimization) [1] that uses a subarray averaging concept in conjunction with the entropy cost function in order to find target motion parameters, and a novel 2-D optimization technique with the inherent properties of the proposed entropy-based cost function. A well-focused ISAR image can be obtained from the combination of the proposed method and a traditional autofocus algorithm that removes the phase error along the cross-range dimension. The effectiveness of this method is illustrated and analyzed with simulated targets comprised of point scatters.
