Preparation of Amine-epoxy Adducts(AEA)/Thin Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes (TWCNTs) Composite Particles using Dry Processes

  • We prepared the amine epoxy adducts (AEA)/thin multiwalled carbon nanotubes (TWCNTs) composite particles using nonsolvent based methods including dry mechano-chemical bonding(MCB) process and supercritical fluid (SCF) process. The resulting TWCNTs/AEA composite particles have been used as curing agents for urethane modified bispheol A type epoxy resin. The thermal, thermomechanical properties of the epoxy resins cured with TWCNTs/AEA composite particles were measured by DMA and the dispersion of CNT was characterized by SEM. Because of high degree of CNT dispersion, thermal and mechanical properties of the epoxy resin cured with TWCNTs/AEA composite particles prepared by SCF process are better than those cured with mechano-chemically prepared TWCNTs/AEA composite particles.

  • The purpose of this study is to ascertain self-healing function on microcracks in bisphenol F-type epoxy-modified mortars using expansive admixtures. The specimens are prepared with various polymer-binder ratios of 0, 5, 10, 20%, expansive admixture contents of 0% and 10%, a sodium carbonate content of 0.25%, and subjected to exposure conditions of CR1, CR2, CR3 and CR4. The specimens are tested for self-healing effect, porosity and FE-SEM analysis. As a result, self-healing effects of bisphenol F-type EPMMs with expansive admixtures are visible in all of the outdoor exposure conditions. In particular, exposure conditions of CR3 and CR4 are most noticeable. And the porosity of EPMMs is reduced with an increase in the polymer-binder ratio, and is considerably smaller than that of unmodified mortar.

  • 구조용 폼의 용도는 난연, 단열 기능이외에 구조적인 목적으로 공극부위를 충진시키는 용도로 사용되고 있다. 경량 소재 개발을 위해 CFRP와 구조용 폼이 이용되고 있으며, PUR, PIR, PVC, PET와 같은 대표적인 폼이 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 구조용 폼의 특성 중 강도 강화를 위한 목적으로 에폭시 폼을 개발하고자 하였다. 에폭시 조성 중 산무수물계 경화제는 기존의 폴리올과 반응을 하기 때문에 산무수물계 에폭시 수지에 발포제를 이용할 경우 폼이 형성되는지, 형성된다면, 압축특성과 포밍 형태를 관하는 연구를 진행하였다. 에폭시 폼을 형성시키기 위한 발포제의 종류에 따른 영향 및 발포재의 농도에 따라 변화되는 폼밍의 결과 차이를 분석하였으며, 산무수물계 수지의 조성차이에 따른 폼의 압축강도를 평가하였다. 궁극적으로 에폭시 폼을 최적의 발포제 선정으로 구조적 강도가 높은 폼을 형성시킬 수 있음을 확인하였으며, 기존의 구조용 폼 소재에 비해 높은 압축강도 및 비압축 강도를 가짐을 확인하였다.

공액이중결합의 골격구조를 갖는 에폭시수지 경화물의 열특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Thermal Properties of Epoxy Resin Compositions having Conjugated Double Bond in Backbone)

  • 환경친화형 반도체 봉지재로서 할로겐 화합물 등의 첨가형 난연제를 혼합하지 않고 자기소화성을 발현시키는 에폭시수지 조성물에 관해 연구하였다. 탄화수소계 방향족 공액이중결합의 구조를 갖는 에폭시수지와 페놀수지의 반응물에서 자기소화성을 갖는 낮은 연소열이 확인되었다. 본 연구에서는 탄화수소계 방향족 공액이중결합에 헤테로원자계 이중결합인 아조메틴기를 도입하여 더욱 낮은 연소열을 확인할 수 있었다. 낮은 연소열의 결과는 높은 반응열과 열전이온도 그리고 빠른 반응성과 관련이 있으며 아조메틴기의 헤테로원자 구조의 영향 때문으로 보인다.

연자성 복합체에서 파우더 크기 분포와 Epoxy Resin에 따른 Packing Density 변화 (The Variation of Packing Density According to Powder Size Distribution and Epoxy Resin in Soft Magnetic Composite)

  • There is growing interest in power inductors in which metal soft magnetic powder and epoxy resin are combined. In this field, the process technology for increasing the packing density of magnetic particles in an injection molding process is very important. However, little research has been reported in this regard. In order to improve the packing density, we investigated and compared the sedimentation heights of pastes for three types of soft magnetic alloy powders as a function of the mixing ratios and the type of resin used. Experimental results showed that the packing density was the highest (71.74%) when the mixing ratio was 80 : 16 : 4 (Sendust : Fe-S : CIP) according to the particle size using an SE-4125 resin. In addition, the packing density was found to be inversely related to the layer separation distance. As a result, it was confirmed that the dispersion of solid particles in the paste was important for curing; however, the duration of the curing process can greatly affect the packing density of the final composite.

Cure Kinetics of Cycloaliphatic Epoxy/Silica System for Electrical Insulation Materials in Outdoor Applications

  • The cure kinetics of a neat epoxy system and epoxy/silica composite were investigated by DSC analysis. A cycloaliphatic type epoxy resin was diglycidyl 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylate and curing agent was anhydride type. To estimate kinetic parameters, the Kissinger equation was used. The activation energy of the neat epoxy system was 88.9 kJ/mol and pre-exponential factor was 2.64×1012 min−1, while the activation energy and pre-exponential factor for epoxy/silica composite were 97.4 kJ/mol and 9.21×1012 min−1, respectively. These values showed that the silica particles have effects on the cure kinetics of the neat epoxy matrix.

방향족 액정동족체 및 Epoxy형 측쇄 액정고분자의 합성 및 성질 II. 선형 및 가교형 측쇄 액정고분자 (Synthesis and Properties of Liquid Crystal Compounds and Epoxy Resin Based Side Chain Liquid Crystal Polymers II. Linear and Crosslinked Epoxy LC Polymers)

  • LCD용의 재료로 사용하기 위하여 새로이 합성된 저분자 액정 중간체들을 이용하여 epoxy resin 구조를 근간으로 하는 측쇄형 선형액정 고분자 및 가교된 측쇄형 액정 고분자를 만들고 이 들의 액정특성에 대하여 조사하였다. Alkyl spacer의 길이가 다른 방향족 amine 말단의 방향족 저분자 액정(ALC(n))과 ethylene glycol diglycidylether로부터 합성된 선형 측쇄형 고분자액정은 DSC 및 편광현미경 관찰로부터 mesogen으로 쓰인 저분자 액정과 같이 네마틱 액정상을 보였으며 spacer $-(CH_2){_n}-$의 길이에 따라 액정상-등방상 전이온도($T_{NI}$)는 even-odd현상을 나타내었다. 선형 및 가교형 측쇄 액정고분자의 $T_{NI}$는 저분자 액정의 그것에 비해 더 낮은 온도에서 나타났으며 또한 가교형 측쇄 액정고분자의 경우에는 가교제인 1,10-diaminodecane 사용량에 따른 $T_g$$T_{NI}$의 변화폭이 그렇게 크지 않은 것이 관찰되었다.

표면처리 탄소섬유가 PEMFC용 탄소/에폭시 복합재료 분리판의 기계적 강도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Surface-Modified Carbon Fiber on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon/Epoxy Composite for Bipolar Plate of PEMFC)

  • Epoxy/carbon composite was used to prepare a bipolar plate for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Phenol novolac-type epoxy and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA)-type epoxy mixture was used as a matrix and graphite powder, carbon fiber (CF) and graphite fiber (GF) were used as carbon materials. In order to improve the mechanical properties of the bipolar plate, surface-modified CF was incorporated into the epoxy/carbon composite. To determine the cure temperature of the epoxy mixture, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis was performed and the data were introduced to Kissinger equation in order to get reaction activation energy and pre-exponential factor. Tensile and flexural strength was obtained by using universal testing machine (UTM). The surface morphology of the fractured specimen and the interfacial morphology between epoxy matrix and CF or GF were observed by a scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

  • Epoxy-mortar composites have been wildly used as finishing and repairing materials in the construction because of their excellent properties. Conventional epoxy-mortars and concretes have an inferior applicability and cost performance ratio due to the two component mixing of the epoxy resin and hardener. In this study, we examined the engineering effect of compressive strength and flexible strength according to the various epoxy-hardener in underwater and humidity environment, and evaluated the hardener types and physical effect of Epoxy mortar using cement binder in underwater and air condition. In this study, it was clarified that the engineering properties of repairing epoxy-motars were effected by the type of hardener.

Effect of Electric Field Frequency on the AC Electrical Treeing Phenomena in an Epoxy/Layered Silicate Nanocomposite

  • The effects of electric field frequency on the AC electrical treeing phenomena in an epoxy/layered silicate (1.5 wt%) were investigated in a needle-plate electrode arrangement. A layered silicate was exfoliated in an epoxy-base resin with AC electric field apparatus. To measure the treeing initiation and propagation- and the breakdown rate, a constant alternating current (AC) of 10 kV with three different electric field frequencies (60, 500, and 1,000 Hz) was applied to the specimen in the needle-plate electrode specimen in an insulating oil bath at $130^{\circ}C$. At 60 Hz, the treeing initiation time was 12 min, the propagation rate was $0.24{\times}10^{-3}$ mm/min, and the morphology was a dense branch type. As the electric field frequency increased, the treeing initiation time decreased and the propagation rate increased. At 1,000 Hz, the treeing initiation time was 5 min, the propagation rate was $0.30{\times}10^{-3}$ mm/min, and the morphology was a dense bush type.
