Spanning Multiple Online Communities and Knowledge Contribution: The Cross-Level Moderating Effects of Environmental Scanning and Membership Fluidity

  • Many organizations facilitate a host of online knowledge sharing communities to assist internal knowledge sharing and operation. The permeable boundaries and voluntary structures of online communities allow individuals to span community boundaries and affect member resources and structures. Although much research has been done on members' knowledge contribution in online communities, relatively little is known about how a member's contribution to a community is shaped by the cross-level interactions of member's external boundary spanning and the community's environmental scanning or membership fluidity. Drawing from the theoretical lens of boundary spanning and the external view of online communities, we take a multi-level approach in the analysis of the activities of 1,992 members of 126 communities internal to a global company. We find that a member's external boundary spanning activity (e.g., external knowledge acquisition via reading posts) has a positive effect, though at a decreasing rate, on subsequent internal knowledge contribution (e.g., posting replies in the member's home community). This positive effect is stronger in communities that are more active in environmental scanning or have fluid membership and weaker in communities that are less active in environmental scanning or have stable membership.

교육대학교 재학생의 녹색소비자행동과 환경지식 및 환경태도의 관계 (Relationship between Green Consumer Behavior, Environmental Knowledge, and Environmental Attitudes among Students at the University of Education)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify a causal relationship among green consumer behavior, environmental knowledge and environmental attitudes of students at the university of education. A total of 366 copies of questionnaires were used for the data analysis; 31 copies were excluded due to lack of response to any given question. To ensure the reliability and validity of the questions, technical statistics were performed, such as frequency, ratio, average, standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis via SPSS 15.0, item-total correlation and the totality, and reliability analysis. A structural analysis was undertaken via AMOS 7.0 in a bootstrapping method in order to perform a path analysis among variables as well as to assess the suitability of the model. The findings of the study were led to the following conclusions: First, the causal model among green consumer behavior, environmental knowledge and environmental attitudes of students at the university of education is suitable to the empirical analysis on research variables. Second, the environmental attitudes of students at the university of education has a direct, positive effect on green consumer behavior. Third, the environmental knowledge of students at the university of education has an indirect, positive effect on green consumer behavior.

  • Although the interaction effects of knowledge sourcing strategies vary depending on environmental conditions such as knowledge intensity, most prior empirical research have failed to prove the effects of environmental conditions on the relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies and firm performance. In order to fill this gap, this study examines how knowledge intensity affects the relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies and firm performance. The results of this study indicate the interaction effects of knowledge sourcing strategies in high knowledge intensity environment are different from the effects in low knowledge intensity environment. This study expands knowledge management research by identifying the effects of knowledge intensity on the relationship between knowledge sourcing strategies and firm performance. Furthermore, it offers valuable practical guidelines for managers in selecting successful combinations of knowledge sourcing strategies with the consideration of knowledge intensity.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine consumers environmental concern environmentally responsible behavior relationship between environmental apparel product knowledge and environmentally responsible apparel purchasing behavior and demographical features which have an influence on those above NEP scale was used to measure environmental concern GERB scale to measure environmentally responsible behavior ERAB scale to measure environmentally responsible apparel purchasing behavior and EAPK scale to measure environmentally reponsible knowldge. 1. Enviromentally reponsible apparel purchasing behavior is done more by thirties of over forties than by twenties. 2. Single women are more interested in environmental concern than married women are while environmentally responsible behavior and environmentally responsible apparel purchasing behavior are practiced more by married women than by single women. 3. As well-educated people have more knowledge about environmental concern. On the contrary as poorly-educated people preactive more knowledge about environmental responsible apparel purchasing behavior. 4. The group higher interest in environmentally have more environmentally responsible knowledge than those having lower interest. 5. There is no significant difference in environmentally responsible apparel purchasing behavior according to environmental apparel product knowledge. 6. The group having higher interest in environmentally responsible behavior practice more environmentally responsible apparel purchasing behavior than those having lower interest.

The Study of High School Students' Environmental Literacy

  • The purpose of this study is to explore high school students' environmental literacy and from its result, to suggest ways to reform environmental education. 1047 students from Seoul and Kyeongki province participated in the survey. The questionnaire consisted of four criteria of environmental literacy including knowledge, skill, attitude and behavior. The result was analyzed and the factors which affect high school students environmental literacy were explored. From this result, we made suggestions to improve environmental education as follows. First, environmental education in school should focus on knowledge criterion. Though school environmental education has been helpful for students to build environmental literacy in attitude and behavior criteria, its effect has not been good enough in knowledge criterion. Second, science education can enhance students' environmental literacy. Students who like science best and students who belong to science major classes were reported to possess better understanding in knowledge criterion. Also, students who like life science appeared to have a more positive attitude in environmental literacy. Third, informal education must be considered to form students' environmental literacy. In particular, the effect of mass media is inarguable. Thus, we should find a way to link formal education and informal education to improve environmental education. Fourth, high school students' interest in the environment must be encouraged since it is evident that higher interest would result in better outcome in environmental education.

공주시 노인의 주관적 건강 지식과 환경 노출 저감 행동의 관련성 (The Relationship between Subjective Health Knowledge and Environmental Exposure Reduction Behavior among the Elderly in Gongju City)

  • Objectives: In this study, the extent of environmental exposure reduction behavior among the elderly living in Gongju City was identified according to demographic and sociological characteristics of individual health behavior and environmental factors. In addition, the relationship between subjective health knowledge and environmental exposure reduction behavior among the elderly was investigated. Methods: Demographic and sociological factors, subjective health status, environmental factors, and environmental exposure reduction behavior were investigated among 120 elderly people in Gongju City. Through multiple regression analysis, variables with significant relationships with environmental exposure reduction behavior were identified (SPSS ver. 22, IBM, Armonk, NY, USA). The survey (IRB-2018-0096) was conducted over about two weeks (from Dec. 3 to 14, 2018). Results: The extent of practicing environmental exposure reduction behavior by the elderly in Gongju City was high in terms of cleaning, ventilation when cooking food, periodic outdoor activities, and ventilation when smoking. Significant variables were gender, past smoking and current non-smoking, subjective health knowledge, and subjective health status. The most influential variable was subjective health knowledge (β= .411). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between the level of subjective health knowledge and the level of objective education for health behavior related to the reduction of environmental exposure among the elderly.

주부의 환경관리지식 인지도와 환경관리행동에 관한 연구 (A Study on awareness of environmental management Knowledge and enviromental management behavior of Housewives)

  • The purpose of this study to investigate the awareness of environmental management knowledge and behavior and the effect of independent variables (The environmental management behavior of housewives are composed of five activities-clothing, eating, housing, buying, family management. The independent variables are composed of objective variable and subjective variable). The Research Questions are as follows; 1. Are there significant differences in the housewife's awareness of the environmental management knowledge according to the objective variable and the subjective variable? 2. How much are the effects of related variables on the awareness of environmental management knowledge? 3. Are there significant differences in the housewife's environmental management behavior according to objective variable and subjective variable and awareness of environmental management knowledge? 4. How much are effects of related variables on the housewife's environmental management behavior? For these purpose, a theoretical framework was developed by literature review and applied to empirical test. The data was collected through the questionnaire those respondents were 477 housewives in seoul. It was analyzed by various statistical methods such as Frequency. Percentile, GLM, F-test, T-test, Duncan's Multiple Range Test, Pearson's Correlations Analysis Simple Regression Analysis, and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results of this research are as follows; 1. The awareness of environmental management knowledge had significant differences according to the variables such as housewife's age, husband's job, family number, education experience of environment, frequencies of contracting mass media, the perceived adequacy of resources, social-altruistic orientation. 2. Among all of these variables affecting the awareness of environmental management knowledge, the perceived adequacy of resources had the highest effects and the next were family number, social-altruistic, type of residence in order. 3. Total Environmental management behavior of housewives had significant differences according to the variables such of environment, frequencies of contracting mass media, the satisfaction of household labor, the perceived adequacy of resources, biospheric orientation, social-altruistic orientation, egoism orientation, the awareness of environmental management knowledge. The clothing, eating, housing, family management behavior had the high level, the buying management behavior had the average level. The clothing, eating, housing, buying, family management behavior had significant differences according to the variables such as the satisfaction of household labor, the perceived adequacy of resources, biospheric orientation, social-altruistic orientation, egoism orientation, the awareness of environmental management knowledge. In particular, the clothing, eating, housing, buying management behavior had significant differences according to the variables such as education experience of environment. And the housing, buying management behavior had significant differences according to the variables such as frequencies of contracting mass media. 4. Among all of theses variables affecting environmental management behavior, the most influence variables was awareness of environmental management knowledge and the next were influence of housewife's job, biospheric orientation, the satisfaction of household labor, education experience of environment, frequencies of contraction mass media, egoism orientation in order. Among all of theses variables effecting the clothing, eating, housing, buying management behavior the variables affecting the family management behavior, the most influences variables was housewife's job. In the result of analysing the housewife's environmental management behavior and awareness of environmental management knowledge, influences of education experience of environment had the highest effect and frequencies of contracting mass media may more influencial than other variables. And Concrete and systematic knowledge and technique of environmental education is requisite. The result of this study could be attributed to develop the efficient environmental information. More emphasis should be given to environmental education and a long range environmental policy. in particular, environmental education be effectively related to environmental behavior, life-education and systematic support must be provided. In addition, further study of environmental problem is needed for and application of various theoretical approaches and research method.

학부모의 에너지절약 인식 및 행동이 유아의 친환경태도와 환경보전지식에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Parents' Energy Conservation Awareness and Behaviors on Young Children's Environment-Friendly Attitudes and Environmental Preservation Knowledge)

  • 이 연구는 학부모의 에너지절약 인식 및 행동이 유아의 친환경태도와 환경보전지식에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 2013년 6월 10일부터 30일까지 충남 N시의 농어촌형 어린이집에 다니는 유아와 부모 160명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 학부모의 에너지절약 인식이 유아의 친환경태도에 미치는 영향은 학부모의 환경보전의식, 에너지 전략의식이 유아의 친환경태도에 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 학부모의 에너지절약 행동이 유아의 친환경태도에 미치는 영향은 학부모의 일반행동, 선택행동이 유아의 친환경태도에 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 학부모의 에너지절약 인식이 유아의 환경보전지식에 미치는 영향은 학부모의 환경보전지식, 에너지 전략의식이 유아의 환경보전지식에 영향을 미쳤다. 넷째, 학부모의 에너지절약 행동이 유아의 환경보전지식에 미치는 영향은 학부모의 일반행동, 선택행동이 유아의 환경보전지식에 영향을 미쳤다. 이상의 연구결과 학부모의 에너지절약 인식과 행동은 유아의 친환경태도와 환경보전지식에 긍정적인 정(+)의 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 유아의 친환경태도와 환경보전지식을 긍정적으로 높이기 위해 학부모의 바른 에너지절약인식과 행동의 중요함을 시사해 준 것이라 할 수 있다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 비즈니스 네트워크의 유대강도가 지식 공유에 미치는 영향과 환경 불확실성이 유대 강도와 지식 공유에 미치는 영향관계를 조사하는 것이다. 국내 첨단산업 종사자 310명의 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로 통계적 분석 및 제안된 가설들을 검증했다. 분석결과, 강한 유대는 암묵적 지식 공유에 영향을 미치고 약한 유대는 명시적 지식공유에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 환경 불확실성이 높을 때 강한 유대는 암묵적 지식 공유를 강화하는 경향이 있는 반면 약한 유대는 환경 불확실성의 영향을 받지 않는 것으로 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 사회적 자본이론을 첨단산업에 적용하여 유대강도 및 지식공유를 연구함으로써, 기존의 기업간 유대 및 지식공유 연구를 뒷받침한다. 이 연구 결과는 기업의 역량, 새로운 지식 창출, 경쟁 우위확보를 위한 중요 요인인 지식 공유를 촉진하기 위해 유대강도를 전략적으로 활용해야 함을 시사한다.

국어과 교육에서의 환경교육 (Environmental Education in the Korean Language Education)

  • As the environmental problems are recognized as daily problems in our lives, not as issues of those who are engaged in specific professional fields, the interest in environmental education is increasing gradually. The environmental education is the one that studies the environment and its problems and seeks the solutions for them. This paper deals with how the Korean subject will include environmental education. The environmental problems are already dealt with in the Korean textbooks according to the 6th curriculum for the Korean subject. A noticeable fact is that those textbooks connect the skills for language skills with environmental education. That is, the textbooks try to improve 4 language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) with the Korean data related to environment, which can be the most practical means. This tendency will be also reflected in the 7th curriculum for the Korean subject, and the means will be taken by which environmental education will be able to be implemented more effectively through a variety of learning activities. In case of speaking and listening, learning activities such as speaking of, listening to, or discussing the contents concerning environmental problems can be recommended. In case of reading and literature, learning activities such as reading articles or works concerning environmental problems. Through these learning activities the Korean education will be able to achieve the goal in the fields of knowledge, information, and autonomy or attitudes which are the goals of environmental education. If the contents of the Korean curriculum are described in detail, it can be known that the Korean subject have someting to do with knowledge, skills, and recognition more deeply. In the methods In obtain information and knowledge, it will be desirable to recognize knowledge and information indirectly through various reading data rather than to recognize knowledge and information directly. Or it will be desirable to increase the sensitivity about environmental problems through literary works. For this environmental education in the above, we need to utilize discussion or presentation-oriented leaching and learning in the Korean education. Also we need to approach environmental problems by using various teaching media. We need to emphasize the education in the affective domain, especially through expression of emotions. guidance of reactions, internalization, personification, and so on.
