성별에 따른 주·야간 원형교차로 사고모형 (Circular Intersection Accident Models of Day and Nighttime by Gender)

  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to develop models of accidents occurring at circular intersections related to the time of day and night and driver gender, and to provide countermeasures for safer circular intersections. METHODS : Seventy intersections built before 2008 were surveyed for inclusion in the modeling. Traffic accident data from 2008 to 2014 were collected from the TAAS data set of the Road Traffic Authority. Sixteen variables explaining the accidents including geometry and traffic volume were selected from the literature and seven multiple linear regression models were developed using SPSS 20.0. RESULTS : First, the null hypotheses, that the number of traffic accidents are not related to driver gender or time of day, were rejected at a 5% level of significance. Second, seven statistically significant accident models with $R^2$ value of 0.643-0.890 were developed. Third, in daytime models by gender, when the right-turn-only lane was selected as the common variable, the number of lanes, presence of driveways and speed humps, diagrammatic exit destination sign, and total entering traffic volume were evaluated as specific variables. Finally, in nighttime models by gender, when the diagrammatic exit destination sign was selected as the common variable, total entering traffic volume, presence of right-turn-only lanes, number of circulatory road way lanes, and presence of splitter islands and driveways were identified as specific variables. CONCLUSIONS:This study developed seven accident models and analyzed the common and specific variables by time of day and gender. The results suggest approaches to providing countermeasures for safer circular intersections.

미기압파에 의한 터널출구소음저감을 위한 고속철도 터널형상개선에 관한 연구 (A study on tunnel entry design considering the booming noise resulting from micro-pressure wave)

  • In general, the booming noise intensity at tunnel exit is strongly related to the gradient of the compression wave front created by high speed train entering the tunnel. This paper presents some results in relation with the compression wave front produced when the high speed train enters a tunnel. Four kinds of tunnel entrance shape with real dimensions were studied to investigate the formation of compression wave front inside tunnel by train entering tunnel. Computations were carried out using three-dimensional compressible Euler equation with vanishing viscosity and conductivity of fluid. According to the reslts, the flow disturbance occured at tunnel entrance were eliminated by tunnel hood with same cross sectional area. The compression wave front is formed completely at 30-40m from tunnel entrance. The maximum pressure gradient of compression wave front is reduced by 29.8% for the inclined tunnel hood and reduced by 21.5% for the tunnel hood with holes at the top face with tunnel without hood. The length of the inclined hood is 15m and the length of the hood with holes is 20m.

가솔린 엔진의 스로틀 밸브 출구에서 유동측정 (Flow Measurements at the Exit of a Throttle Valve in Gasoline Engines)

  • The flow and combustion patterns have been investigated inside the gasoline engine cylinder with the swirl or tumble flow, whereas the air flow characteristics, which are generated in the part of intake system before entering into the intake manifold, have not been known completely. It is necessary to analyze the flow field in the intake system consisting of air rater, throttle valve and intake manifold. The throttle valve, used to control the intake air flow rate, is important because it makes various mass flow rate and flow patterns. Three-dimen-sional How characteristics such as velocities, turbulent intensities and Reynolds shear stresses are measured by the hot wire anemometer at the exit of the throttle valve with the variation in the valve opening angle($15^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $75^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$) and the Reynolds numbers (45000, 70000 and 140000). There are a lot of changes in flow characteristics at $75^{\circ}$ due to the large recirculation flow comparing with those of the other cases, and the streamwise velocity is especially enforced strongly below the valve shaft. The other component velocities are relatively large near the centerline parallel to the valve shaft. The effects of the Reynolds number on the flow field are not severe.

촉매 변환기 내부 유동의 실험적 해석 (Experimental Analysis on the Catalytic Converter Internal Flow)

  • Increasing the active catalyst surface area is important in improving a converter's efficiency. In addition, uniform flow is advantageous in that it produces more efficient catalytic conversion. This results in the ability to use a smaller catalytic converter with uniform flow as opposed to a larger converter requirement for non-uniform flow. Therefore, it is important to characterize the internal flow of the catalytic converter. To characterize the system's flow patterns, velocity measurements were taken at the mid and exit planes of a ceramic honeycomb catalytic converter at flow rates of 37.8 l/s and 94.4 l/s. Measurements were conducted using LDV. The profiles were measured along both the major and minor axis of the planes. Primary flow direction velocities measured along the minor axis, at both flow rates, varied greatly at the mid plane and somewhat at the exit plane. The areas of greatest air flow were seen near the edges of the walls and on the side of the converter opposite the flow's entrance region. It also appears that the high velocities opposite the intake are due to the design of the entrance region. The entrance region is possibly too small to properly redirect the vertically entering fluid into an evenly distributed flow in the primary flow direction.

개방식고속도로 통행특성과 영업체계 전환분석 (Analysis of Open Toll Segments in Urban Freeways)

  • 고속도로는 폐쇄식과 개방식 영업체계 두 개의 방식으로 운영되고 있다. 2001년을 기점으로 하여 대부분 폐쇄식으로 전환되었으며, 수도권을 제외하고는 거의 폐쇄식으로 운영되고 있다. 이는 주민들이 개방식에 대한 요금의 불합리성을 민원으로 끊임없이 제기하기 때문이다. 이러한 민원을 발생시키는 개방식 영업체계는 시설비/운영비가 적게 소요되며, 간선기능의 효과 등의 장점이 있어 도시부간선도로와 같이 단거리 통행량이 많은 노선에 적합하나 영업소 통과차량에만 요금이 부과되므로 주행거리와 상관없이 동일 요금이 적용 된다는 점과 영업소를 통과하지 않는 일부 구간에 무료차량을 발생하므로 불공정 문제가 야기 되고 있다. 개방식으로 운영되고 있는 서울외곽순환고속도로의 경우 1992년 개통이후 현재까지 개방식 구간을 이용한 일일 교통량의 연평균 증가율이 10%를 넘고 있다. 이러한 이용대수의 증가에 따라 일부 무료이용 구간에서 교통체증이 발생하고 있어 무료이용자와 유료이용자 간의 형평성 문제가 대두되고 있다. 또한 서울외곽순환고속도로의 경우 민자고속도로인 서울외곽순환고속도로(일산${\sim}$퇴계원)가 개통됨에 따라 민자고속도로와 한국도로공사 관할 서울외곽순환고속도로 상호간의 영업체계상의 일관성이 없는 문제가 발생한다. 따라서 본 연구는 개방식 고속도로 무료이용구간의 통행특성 분석과 폐쇄식으로의 전환시 영향을 분석하였다.

Azimuthal anchoring measurement of nematic liquid crystals using the strong magnetic field

  • We would like to show a measuring technique of azimuthal anchoring energy of the nematic liquid crystals. The electro-optical setup of liquid crystal cell, crossed polarizers and magnetic field was assumed. The planar or hybrid alignment cells were prepared. The director in the light entering substrate and the polarization of light was adjusted into parallel to the magnetic field. The director orientation of exit substrate and analyser maintained perpendicular to the magnetic field. As the magnetic field strength is increased, the director deviates from the easy axis and rotates to the field direction. We obtained an equation calculating the change of transmission with the field and measured experimentally the transmission. By comparing the calculating and experimental data, we obtained the azimuthal anchoring strength.

런아웃을 고려한 측면 엔드밀 가공의 절삭력 분석 (An Analysis of the Cutting Force for Peripheral End-milling Considering Run-out)

  • The cutting force for peripheral end-milling considering run-out property was estimated and its result was compared with that of measured one. An experimental coefficient modelling was used for the formulation of theoretical end-milling force by considering the specific cutting force coefficient. Also, the specific cutting force, that is the multiplication of specific cutting force coefficient and uncut chip thickness, was used for the prediction of end-milling force. The end-milling force mechanics with run-out was presented for the estimation of theoretical force in peripheral end-milling by considering the geometric shape of the workpiece part. As a result, the estimated end-milling force shows a good consistency with the measured one. And it can be used for the prediction of force history in end-milling with run-out which incurs different start and exit immersion angle in entering and exiting condition.

  • 본 논문에서는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 구현에 있어서 중요 핵심 요소 기술인 실내에서의 사용자의 위치를 인식하면서 동시에 사용자를 식별하는 방법에 대해 제안하고자 한다. 제안된 사용자 식별 방법은 초음파 센서의 물체까지의 거리를 측정할 수 있는 특성에 기초하여 구성원의 키 높이의 다름을 주요한 식별 특성으로 이용하는 방법이다. 또한 사용자 식별을 수행하는 것과 동시에 식별된 사용자가 센서가 장착된 문을 통과하여 들어왔는지 나갔는지를 감지하는 출입 감지 방법도 제안한다. 기본적인 출입 감지 방법의 아이디어는 2개 초음파 센서의 물체 감지 순서를 이용하여 개발되었다. 제안된 방법의 성능 검증을 위해 1단계의 프로토타입을 만들었으며, 개발된 프로토타입을 이용하여 3명의 가족 구성원으로 이루어진 일반 가정집의 화장실에 장착하여 성능 실험을 실시하였다. 실험 결과 100%의 사용자 식별 성능 및 평균 98%의 출입 감지 성능을 얻었다.

고속열차의 터널 진입시 발생하는 압력변화에 대한 수치 해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Pressure Variation in the Tunnel Entrance of High Speed Train)

  • Sudden pressure changes caused by the high-speed train entering the entrance of the tunnel are propagated into the tunnel and spread out around the tunnel in the form of a micro pressure wave at the exit of the tunnel. This phenomenon can cause noise and vibration around the tunnel, causing damage to the surroundings. Analysis of this phenomenon is very difficult, but the development of analytical technology has revealed more phenomena than in the past. In this study, we propose this method of analysis and compare it with the experimental data to show the data with higher reliability.
