복합재 원통쉘의 비틀림좌굴 거동 (Buckling Behavior of Composite Cylindrical Shells Under Torsion)

  • This paper deals with the torsional buckling behavior of plain weave GFRP composite cylindrical shells having comparatively small length-to-diameter ratio. Boundary conditions corresponding to clamped ends and simply supported ends are considered. Torsional buckling loads and circumferential mode numbers according to the variation of shell length-to-radius ratio are conformed. To verify the availability of the theoretical results, comparison with the theoretical and experimental results are made.

양단고정된 변단면보의 자유 및 강제진동의 비선형해석 (Nonlinear analysis of stepped beam with immovable ends for free and forced vibration)

  • Stepped bean with immovable ends for large amplitude of vibration including effects of longitudinal displacement, shear deformation and rotary inertia is investigated for free and forced vibration using finite element method. Modified harmonic force matrix is introduced for analysis of vibration with finite amplitude of the stepped beam under uniform hamonic loading and beam with nonuniform harmonic loading. Numerical examples of stepped beam with various support conditions are analysed for deflections and natural frequencies. Results show that the proposed method is valid and efficient.

MINIMAL GRAPHS WITH PLANAR ENDS

  • In this article, we consider an unbounded minimal graph $M{\subset}R^3$ which is contained in a slab. Assume that ${\partial}M$ consists of two Jordan curves lying in parallel planes, which is symmetric with the reflection under a plane. If the asymptotic behavior of M is also symmetric in some sense, then we prove that the minimal graph is itself symmetric along the same plane.

  • Telomeres are nucleoprotein complexes at the physical ends of linear eukaryotic chromosomes. They protect the chromosome ends from various external attacks to avoid the loss of genetic information. Telomeres are maintained by cellular activities associated with telomerase and telomere-binding proteins. In addition, epigenetic regulators have pivotal roles in controlling the chromatin state at telomeres and subtelomeric regions, contributing to the maintenance of chromosomal homeostasis in yeast, animals, and plants. Here, we review the recent findings on chromatin modifications possibly associated with the dynamic states of telomeres in Arabidopsis thaliana.

유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅에 관한 사용자 가치구조 연구 (Developing a User-Perceived Value Framework for Ubiquitous Computing)

  • 본 연구에서는 차세대 기술로서 각광을 받고 있는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅에 대하여 사용자들이 어떠한 가치를 부여하는지를 탐색하여 그 가치 프레임워크를 구성하여 제시하였다. Keeney가 제시하였던 "가치중심사고(value-focused thinking)"의 방법을 활용하여 22명의 사용자들을 인터뷰하였고 이러한 인터뷰들에서 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅에 바라는 바를 중심으로 435개의 진술을 확보하였다. 정형화되어 있지 않은 진술들을 정성적 방법으로 정화하여 166개의 '가치' 진술을 도출하였고 이어서 이들의 클러스터링을 통하여 사용자들이 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅에 부여하는 가치를 내재하고 있는 37개의 목적 (objectives)을 확정하였다. 이 목적 진술들간의 관계가 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅을 바라보는 가치의 구조이므로 이를 도출하기 위하여 포커스그룹을 시행하여 수단목적(means-objective)와 목표 목적 (ends-objective)들로 분류하였고 수단과 목적을 한 눈에 볼 수 있도록 네트워크다이어그램으로 구성을 하여 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅을 바라보는 가치의 프레임워크를 제시하였다. 이 프레임워크는 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅을 활용하여 비즈니스의 기회를 창출하고 심화하는 데 활용할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

Experimental study on seismic performance of reinforced concrete frames retrofitted with eccentric buckling-restrained braces (BRBs)

  • As a new type of energy dissipation component with excellent mechanical performance, the Buckling-Retrained Braces (BRBs) were gradually applied in retrofitting and improving seismic performance of reinforced concrete structures in China. In order to investigate the seismic performance of reinforced concrete structures retrofitted with BRBs, quasi-static test of two single-bay and 3-story reinforced concrete frames specimens was conducted and introduced in this paper. Two 1/2 scaled specimens were designed to reflect real prototype structure. For comparison, one control specimen was designed without BRBs, and the other specimen was retrofitted with BRBs. And particularly, for the specimen retrofitted with BRBs, the BRBs were eccentric layout instead of usually concentric or x-shaped layout, aiming to be more suitable for large-span frames. In the test, the failure mode, carrying capacity, deformability, ductility and energy dissipation ability of both two specimens were investigated. Based on the test results of the measured hysterical curves, skeleton curves, the seismic performances such as bearing capacity, plastic deformability, energy dissipation ability and ductility of two specimens were fully studied. And from the test results, it was indicated that the specimen retrofitted with BRBs showed much better seismic performance than the control specimen without BRBs, and the BRBs could effectively improve the seismic performance of the reinforced concrete frame. For the specimen retrofitted with BRBs, the BRBs firstly yielded before the beam-ends and the column-ends, and an expected yielding process or yielding mechanism as well as good seismic performance was obtained. For the specimens without BRBs, though the beam-ends yielded prior to the column-ends, the seismic performance was much poor than that of the specimen with BRBs.

양단자유 경계조건을 가진 매설관의 동적거동에서 진동안전 기준에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Vibration Safety Criterion on the Dynamic Behavior of Buried Pipeline with the Free Ends)

  • 본 연구는 건설현장에서 매설관의 경계조건에 따른 동적 거동에 대한 진동안전기준에 관한 연구이다. 경계조건은 양단자유이며, 축방향 및 축직각방향에 대한 거동을 조사하였다. 매설관은 탄성기초 위에 놓인 보요소로 모형화하였고, 지진파는 정현파 형태의 지반 변위로 적용하였다. 매설관의 고유진동수와 모드 형태 그리고 매개변수의 영향을 조사하기 위해 자유진동에 대한 해석을 수행하였다. 그리고 지진파에 대한 거동을 조사하기 위해 자유진동 해석을 통해 얻어진 고유진동수와 모드 형태를 이용하여 진동에 대한 수식을 유도하였으며, 진동안전기준치 5 cm/sec에 안전하였고 양단자유의 매설관에 대한 자유진동 및 강제진동시의 시간-변위곡선을 나타내기 위한 전산프로그램을 완성하였다.

환경하중에 의한 장스팬 콘크리트 포장 슬래브의 컬링 거동 특성 분석 (Curling Behavior of Long-Span Concrete Pavement Slab under Environmental Loads)

  • 본 연구는 장스팬 콘크리트 포장 슬래브가 환경하중을 받아 컬링 거동을 할 때의 특성을 분석하기 위하여 수행되었다. 먼저 장스팬 포장 슬래브의 유한요소해석 모델을 구성하여 컬링 시 응력분포 특성 및 슬래브 길이, 두께, 하부지지층 강성, 슬래브 단부 구속 등이 컬링 거동에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 또한 실제 시공된 장스팬 포장 슬래브를 이용하여 현장에서 환경하중에 의한 거동을 측정함으로써 컬링 거동 특성을 실험적으로도 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 장스팬 포장 슬래브는 단부에서 부터 슬래브 중앙을 따라 어느 정도 안쪽으로 들어오면 컬링에 의한 수직변위가 발생하지 않으며 응력은 이곳에서부터 일정하게 최대치를 보이게 된다. 장스팬 포장 슬래브의 길이 및 하부지지층의 강성은 최대 컬링 응력에 영향을 미치지 않았으며, 슬래브 단부의 구속은 컬링 응력이 단부까지 발생하게 하지만 최대 컬링 응력의 크기에는 거의 영향을 미치지 않았다.

상하단이 자유롭게 수평동요하는 수중 조파판에 의해 생성된 수면파의 근사해석 (Linear Analysis of Water Surface Waves Generated by Submerged Wave Board Whose Upper and Lower Ends Oscillate Horizontally Freely)

  • To derive a simplified analytic solution which can be utilized as a fundamental solution for the wave maker design, a segment of the wave board has been idealized as a submerged line segment in a two dimensional domain of a wave flume. The lower end of the line segment could be located at arbitrary depth of the wave flume and the upper end of the board could be also submerged to any depth from the free surface. The freely oscillating motion of the wave board is assumed to be defined by determining the condition of horizontal oscillation on both ends differently. The submerged wave board oscillating in horizontal direction could be specified by selecting the amplitude, frequency and the phase lag differently on lower and upper ends of the board. The simplified two dimensional wave generated by the wave board segment has been obtained by the first order perturbation method. It is found that the general solution of the freely oscillating wave board in two dimensional domain could be decomposed into the solution of flap motion with lower end hinge and swing motion with upper end hinge. The case study of the analytic solutions has been carried out to evaluate the effect on the wave height due to the difference of oscillation frequency, phase difference and variation of stroke between for the motion of both ends. It is found that the solution of the freely oscillating wave board could be utilized for the development of high performance wavemaker especially for irregular waves.

Deflections and rotations in rectangular beams with straight haunches under uniformly distributed load considering the shear deformations

  • This paper presents a model of the elastic curve for rectangular beams with straight haunches under uniformly distributed load and moments in the ends considering the bending and shear deformations (Timoshenko Theory) to obtain the deflections and rotations on the beam, which is the main part of this research. The traditional model of the elastic curve for rectangular beams under uniformly distributed load considers only the bending deformations (Euler-Bernoulli Theory). Also, a comparison is made between the proposed and traditional model of simply supported beams with respect to the rotations in two supports and the maximum deflection of the beam. Also, another comparison is made for beams fixed at both ends with respect to the moments and reactions in the support A, and the maximum deflection of the beam. Results show that the proposed model is greater for simply supported beams in the maximum deflection and the traditional model is greater for beams fixed at both ends in the maximum deflection. Then, the proposed model is more appropriate and safe with respect the traditional model for structural analysis, because the shear forces and bending moments are present in any type of structure and the bending and shear deformations appear.
