초등학교 과학 수업에서 과학영재 학생의 행동 특성이 일반 학생에게 미치는 영향에 대한 교사의 인식 (Teacher's Perception of Influence of Behavioral Characteristics of Scientifically-Gifted Students on General Students in Elementary School Science Classes)

  • This study analyzed the teacher's perception for influence of behavioral characteristics of scientifically-gifted students on general students in elementary school science class. To do this, we selected the eight elementary school teachers who were conducting the regular science classes including scientifically-gifted students belonging to the gifted education institutes in Seoul and conducted individual in-depth interviews. The analysis of the results reveal that the teachers mentioned seven behavioral characteristics of scientifically-gifted students in general elementary school science classes.: 'excellent in designing and performing experiments', 'playing a leading role in experiments', 'expressing their abundant prior knowledge frequently', 'attempting their tasks with curiosity and persistence', 'displaying scientific creativity', 'often asking scientific questions in detail', and 'expressing their opinions logically'. These behavioral characteristics of scientifically-gifted students had positive effects on general students, such as 'providing them with a successful experience in conducting experiments', 'improving understanding of science class contents', 'developing scientific thinking and reflective thinking', and 'improving their students' positive experiences about science'. However, the excessive learning-driven behaviors of scientifically-gifted students had negative effects on general students, such as 'limiting opportunities for general students to participate in classes', 'conducting passive exploration centered on results', and 'causing conflicts with general students'. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

초등학교 교사들의 과학적 탐구 및 지도방법에 관한 신념 연구 (Elementary Teacher's Beliefs of Scientific Inquiry and Scientific Inquiry Teaching Method)

  • This study explored practicing elementary school teacher's beliefs of scientific inquiry and scientific inquiry teaching methods. Defining teacher's beliefs as a broad construct, we tried to examine the teachers' understandings about the scientific inquiry and scientific inquiry teaching method. This study drew on interview data from 10 elementary teachers in busan and changwon area of korea. Conclusions of this study include; First, we found that elementary teacher's beliefs of inquiry were represented variously. And they considered that inquiry is the important goal of science education. They though that the goal of science education is development of Scientific inquiry skills, Scientific thinking skills, development of Creativity and problem solving ability, increasing interest about science, understanding of the basic concepts of science and apply of real-life. second, most of the teachers though that Scientific inquiry is scientists activities, they defined 'the process of creation of new knowledge', 'the process of deriving theory', 'solving process of intellectual curiosity', 'Problem-solving process'. third, they considered that teaching method of scientific inquiry is open inquiry activities. however, they thought that there are many difficulties to actually apply. Understanding teachers' beliefs has implications for both the enactment of inquiry teaching in the classroom as well as the uptake of new teaching behaviors during professional development, with enhanced outcomes for engaging students in Science.

초등학생 군인 자녀의 문제행동 관련요인 (Factors associated with Behavior Problems of Military Children in Elementary School)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate predictors of behavior problems of military children in elementary school. Methods: Participants were 195 military children who were attending D-elementary school in C-city. Data were collected from July 8 to July 10, 2013, using self-report questionnaires which included Han's Externalized Behavior Problems Scale, Lee's Parent's Rearing Attitude Scale, and Hong's Friend/Teacher Support Appraisal Scale. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program, which included the t-test, the one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and the multiple liner regression analysis. Results: The mean score of the subjects' behavior problem was 1.47/5.0 points. The degree of the score is similar to or slightly lower than that of ordinary children. There were statistically significant differences in behavior problems according to gender, grade, birth order and economic status. Behavior problems have a negative correlation with parent's rearing attitude, parent-child relationship, teacher's support, and friend's support. Influencing factors of behavior problems were teacher's support, father-child relationship, and mother's rearing attitude, which explained 20.6% of the variance. Conclusion: The finding of this study suggests there is a need to increase teacher's support for elementary students and to educate parents to improve their parenting skills by developing proper school health programs.

초등학교 수학 지도서의 교육적 특징 분석틀 개발 연구 (A Development Study of a Framework for Analyzing the Educative Features of Teacher Guidebooks for Elementary Mathematics )

  • 수학 지도서는 교사 학습을 지원하기 위한 중요한 자료임에도 불구하고 지도서의 교육적 특징을 다루는 연구는 거의 없다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 초등학교 수학 지도서의 교육적 특징(educative features)을 분석할 수 있는 틀을 개발하는 것이다. 이를 위해, Fuentes와 Ma(2018)가 수학 지도서를 분석하기 위해 개발한 틀인 '수학 교육과정 자원에서 교사 학습 기회(Teacher Learning Opportunities in Mathematics Curriculum Materials)'에 우리나라 초등학교 수학 지도서 각론의 구성적 특성에 따른 단원 전개 흐름을 추가하여 초기 분석틀을 마련하였다. 그런 다음 3-4학년 수학의 6개 단원별로 검정 지도서 10종을 적용하여 분석틀을 수정 및 보완하였다. 그 결과, 선행연구의 분석틀을 보완 및 확대하였고, 우리나라 지도서의 교육적 특징을 분석할 수 있도록 단원 전개 흐름에 따라 관련 요소를 도출하고 정교화하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 분석틀은 향후 우리나라 초등학교 수학 지도서의 교육적 특징을 면밀히 분석하는 데 활용될 수 있고, 교사 학습을 촉진하기 위한 지도서의 개발에도 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

학교회계예산제도 운영에 대한 초등학교 교사의 인식 연구 (A Study on Elementary School Teachers' Awareness about School Accounting Budget System Operation)

  • This study is to investigate elementary school teacher's awareness about the operation of school accounting budget system such as annual expenditure budget, operation process, and its effect. To achieve the research purpose, based upon literature review and pilot test survey questionnaire was developed. Subjects of the survey were public elementary teachers of Busan Metropolitan city. The findings were the followings: Teachers' awareness about the budget structure was higher than that of school budget amount. Teachers' awareness about the budget process such as budgeting, deliberation, finalizing, expenditure, etc was comparatively high. The study suggests close connection between the school budget and school management plan, in-service training for teachers regarding the budgeting etc.

초등학생을 위한 학교부적응 척도 개발 및 타당화 (Development of Techer's Rating Scale of Elementary School Student's School Maladjustment)

  • 본 연구는 초등학생의 학교부적응에 대한 교사보고형 척도를 개발하는 것이다. 초등학교교사의 응답을 통해 50개의 학교부적응 행동을 설정하였다. 하위척도를 확인하기 위하여, 60명의 교사가 240명의 학생의 행동을 평정한 자료에 대해 요인분석을 하였다. 그 결과 공격적 자기중심적 행동, 수업 및 학급규범 일탈행동, 소극적 비사회적 행동, 학교생활 적극적 기피 행동을 확인하였다. 타당도를 확인하기 위하여 120명의 학생자료에 대해 본 연구에서 개발한 척도와 초등학생 문제행동체크리스트(김혜숙, 황매향, 2009)간의 상관을 구하였고, 신뢰도를 확인하기 위하여 120명의 학생자료에 대해 본 척도의 내적합치도와 검사-재검사 신뢰도를 산출하였다. 연구결과 본 연구에서 개발한 초등학생의 학교 부적응에 대한 교사보고형 척도는 타당하고 신뢰로왔다.

초등교사는 과학 수업에서 어떠한 딜레마를 경험하고 어떻게 대응하는가? (Which Types of Dilemmas do Elementary School Teachers Experience and How do They Cope with in Science Classes?)

  • In this study, we aimed to look at what dilemmas of science teaching elementary school teachers experience and how they cope with their dilemmas in everyday science classes. Three elementary school teachers participated and qualitative data such as class log, class video, and interview materials were analyzed in inductive ways. The main findings are as follows. First, the dilemmas were classified based on the four factors that make up the science class; teacher, student, learning content, environment. However the dilemmas appeared to be not only one factor involved, but the rest of the factors intertwined. Thus, it was interpreted how the main factors causing the dilemmas conflicted with other factors. Second, the types of teachers' coping strategies to the dilemmas could be largely divided into 'give-up', 'stick to' and 'modified'. In some cases, teachers gave up on what they valued and did not take active action ('give-up'), teachers chose what they valued and made decisions to actively realize it ('stick to'), and in others, conflicts were adjusted by introducing new methods or elements to their classes ('modified'). Based on these results, we discussed that the teacher's dilemmas could facilitate the teacher's learning or professional development.

2015 개정 교육과정 과학과 교과역량에 대한 초등교사의 인식과 적용 실태 분석 (Analysis of Teachers' Perception and Application Status of Science Subject Competencies of 2015 Revised Curriculum in Elementary Schools)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze field application of science subject competences of the 2015 revised curriculum for the second year of application. For this purpose, a survey with 133 elementary school teachers, and in-depth interviews with 10 teachers were conducted. According to the results, elementary school teachers had a positive awareness toward the science subject competence, which is a characteristic of the 2015 revised science curriculum, and teachers were applying the science subject competence to their own classes. This tendency was stronger in teachers in science-leading schools than in teachers in regular schools. Teachers wanted support for applying science subject competencies to their classes. To support this, it is necessary to provide the curriculum materials focused on science subject competencies, reinforce teacher training on competence-related curriculum, and activate the professional teacher community.

초등환경교육의 전문성 신장을 위한 교사 연수 프로그램의 구성 요소 탐색 (A Study on the Components of Teacher In-Service Training Program to Improve the Professionalism in the Elementary Environmental Education)

  • The purpose of this study is to find identity of the elementary environmental education and inquire elements of professionalism in environmental education that elementary teachers should have. This study performed a half-structured interview in twice to the eight of elementary teachers who completed the environmental education curriculum course in a graduate school or participated in the teacher training program before. As a result, this study found that the identity of the elementary environmental education consists of the unification comprehending various subjects, the well-rounded sensitivity balancing intellectual, emotional and behavioral aspects, and the grounding in forming environmentally friendly living-habit and academic basis of environments. Moreover, this study found that the teacher training program for the specialty of the elementary environmental teachers should comprise of the following twelve components: the knowledge of overall environmental curriculum, environmental life guidance and environmental classroom management, environmental teaching skills and function, the passion and commitment about environmental education, environmental sensitivity, understanding of education studies, the values and attitude about environment, environmental behavior, understanding the relationship between environmental psychology and developing stage of child, the general education and communication/cooperation with colleagues or local community, understanding of the role as an teacher for the elementary environmental education. More importantly, it would be very crucial that the teachers themselves who are the main body of education system should recognize the their role as the professionals in order to improve the quality of education.

초등교사의 시각적 표상 활용 실태 및 시각적 표상의 기능에 대한 인식 (Elementary School Teachers' Use of Visual Representations and their Perceptions of the Functions of Visual Representations)

  • This study surveyed the elementary school teachers' use of visual representations and their perceptions of the functions of visual representations in the teaching of electricity unit. A total of 110 elementary teachers who have experiences in teaching electricity unit responded to online survey. The result showed firstly that most of the teachers use visual representations in their teaching and it is mostly limited to those presented in textbooks or images that they can get easily from internet search. Secondly, elementary teachers thought that they have high ability in using visual representations and low ability in understanding students' visual presentation ability. Thirdly, visual representations are more often preferred to be used as teacher-centered ways than student-centered ways for motivating students and conceptual understanding. However, in case of scientific inquiry, both teacher-centered and student-centered ways were equally preferred. Lastly, the teachers' perceptions of the functions of visual representations were categorized into 'teaching-instrumental function', 'learning-instrumental function', 'communicative-instrumental function' and 8 subcategories were found. The most frequent function was the 'information delivery function' in the 'teaching-instrumental function' category. Implications for teacher education and further studies were discussed.
