  • The interaction between a vibrating structure and a surrounding acoustic medium determines the acoustic power propagating into the far-field. A straightforward method to reduce the radiated power is to reduce the vibration of the structure. However it is more efficient to control the modes of the structure separately since each vibration mode of the structure has different radiation efficiency. An efficient method to reduce the sound radiation in the low frequency region is proposed by reducing the radiation efficiency of the structure.

  • An efficient and general numerical strategy for fluid-structure interaction problems is presented where either the fluid or the structure part are represented by nonlinear models. This partitioned strategy is implemented under the form of code coupling that allows to (re)-use previous made developments in a more general multi-physics context. This strategy and its numerical implementation is verified on classical fluid-structure interaction benchmarks, and then applied to the impact of tsunamis waves on submerged structures.

  • Confirmation of a damage degree and repair about a damage part are very hard for an underwater structure. And quality control of a construction is very complicated even if repair work is carried out on a damaged structure because repair work is carried out in water. If repair work is carried out while a defect part of the structure which there is in water keeps dry state, a efficient of repair is maximized. However, as for the repair technology about an underwater structure, a systematic researcher is not enough because of the environmental trouble. And, as for the effect about repair method to be applied to a currently underwater structure, it is not certainly proved. In this study The repair work of an underwater structure damaged applied the method that used a fiber panel form work. And a efficient of structure repaired was evaluated.

Efficient models for analysis of a multistory structure with flexible wings

  • This study lays emphasis on the development of efficient analytical models for a multistory structure with wings, including the in-plane deformation of floor slabs. For this purpose, a multistory structure with wings is regarded as the combination of multistory structures with rectangular plan and their junctions. In addition, a multistory structure with a rectangular plan is considered to be an assemblage of two-dimensional frames and floor slabs connecting two adjacent frames at each floor level. This modeling, concept can be easily applied to multistory structures with plans in the shape of L, T, Y, U, H, etc. To represent the in-plane deformation of floor slabs efficiently, a two-dimensional frame and the floor slab connecting two adjacent frames at each floor level are modeled as a stick model with two degrees of freedom per floor and a stiff beam with shear deformations, respectively. Three models are used to investigate the effect of in-plane deformation of the floor slab at the junction of wings on the seismic behavior of structures. Based on the comparison of dynamic analysis results obtained using the proposed models and three-dimensional finite element models, it could be concluded that the proposed models can be used as an efficient tool for an approximate analysis of a multistory structure with wings.

  • In this paper, we propose an indexing model for efficient structure retrieval of XML documents. The proposed indexing model consists of structured information that supports a wide range of queries such as content-based queries and structure-attribute queries at all levels of the document hierarchy and index organizations that are constructed based on the information. To support structured retrieval, a new representation method for structured information is presented. Using this structured information, we design content index, structure index, and attribute index for efficient retrieval. also, we explain processing procedures for mixed queries and evaluate the performance of proposed indexing model. It is shown that the proposed indexing model achieves better retrieval performance than the existing method.

  • Unlike using the sequence-based representation for a chromosome in previous genetic algorithms for Bayesian structure learning, we proposed a matrix representation-based genetic algorithm. Since a good chromosome representation helps us to develop efficient genetic operators that maintain a functional link between parents and their offspring, we represent a chromosome as a matrix that is a general and intuitive data structure for a directed acyclic graph(DAG), Bayesian network structure. This matrix-based genetic algorithm enables us to develop genetic operators more efficient for structuring Bayesian network: a probability matrix and a transpose-based mutation operator to inherit a structure with the correct edge direction and enhance the diversity of the offspring. To show the outstanding performance of the proposed method, we analyzed the performance between two well-known genetic algorithms and the proposed method using two Bayesian network scoring measures.

  • Triangular mesh models are widely used in reverse engineering, computer graphics, rapid prototyping and NC(numerical controller) tool-path generation. Triangular mesh models are generated from point clouds, surface models and solid models. A halfedge-based triangular mesh data structure is proposed and the development considerations are presented. In the presented data structure, halfedge is the key data structure. Halfedge stores its triangle index and the order in the triangle. Triangles do not store the halfedge lists explicitly. Halfedge is referred by value and defined when it is required. Proposed data structure supports four design requirements: efficient rendering, compact memory, supporting efficient algorithms and easy programming.

  • In this paper, an efficient SAD(Sum of Absolute Differences) processor structure for motion estimation of 0.264 is proposed. SAD processors are commonly used both in full search methods for motion estimation or in fast search methods for motion estimation. Proposed structure consists of SAD calculator block, combinator block, and minimum value calculator block. Especially, proposed structure is simplified by using Distributed Arithmetic for addition operation. The Verilog-HDL(Hard Description Language) coding and FPGA implementation results for the proposed structure show 39% and 32% gate count reduction comparison with those of the conventional structure, respectively. Due to its efficient processing scheme, the proposed SAD processor structure can be widely used in size dominant H.264 chip.

An efficient method to reduce the sound radiation in the low frequency region is proposed by reducing the radiation efficiency of the structure. Numerical simulations are carried out for a simply-supported beam in which the feed-forward control is applied to reduce the volume velocity of each structural mode. This method is found to be very efficient in reducing low frequency sound radiation.

  • The CMIP(Common Management Information Protocol) and SNMP(Simple Network Management Network) are the two major network management protocols, Which nee to be integrated. Since the networks need to be managed in a uniform way, the CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) NE View is to develop as a Standard in the ATM Forum For the TMN management structure to integrate these two protocols. In this paper, the function classes are defined to develop the gateway for efficient subnetwork management. The function classes are defined based on the analysis of EMS functions which are mainly network management design of the TMN structure. Also, the object models of the SMI)(Structure of Management Information) in SNMP and the GDMO(Guidelines for the Definition of Managed Objects) in CMIP are developed way direct translation and abstract translation. The integrated management system design, information model translation of EMS using classdefinition, is efficient is efficient method to interconnect CORBA/SNMP and CORBA/CMIP.
