This study conducted a survey targeting at dental hygienists working in medical institutions located in Daegu, Pusan, Ulsan Metropolitan City and Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk Province from July 18th to August 26th 2011, in order to study factors which affect radiation safety management behaviors and improve levels of those behaviors. The results of this study are as follows. 1. There were significant differences in radiation safety management knowledge of dental hygienists, according to service institutions (p<.001), the current state of defense facilities (p<.006) and the necessity for safety management education (p<.012). 2. There were significant differences in radiation safety management attitudes, according to age (p<.014), service institutions (p<.003), work experience (p<.009), educational level (p<.002), the current state of defense facilities (p<.015), the necessity for safety management education (p<.005) and the intention to take part in the education (p<.036). 3. There were significant differences in radiation safety management behaviors, depending on experience in safety management education (p<.068), measurement of exposed dose (p<.010), the state of defense facilities (p<.001). 4. There were statistically positive correlations between radiation safety management knowledge and attitude, and between radiation safety management attitude and behavior (p<.05). 5. The regular measurement of exposed dose (p<.046) and the present state of defense facilities (p<.001) were found to be factors to affect radiation safety management behaviors. In conclusion, it is considered that building perfect defense facilities of radiology rooms and measuring the exposed does of dental hygienists on a regular basis to alert them to the danger of radiation is considerably important to improve radiation safety management behaviors.
The objective of this study is to suggest the contents of education for software for Undergraduates who are not majoring in IT to cultivate creative and convergent people to prepare for the 4th Industrial Revolution. In the background, this study investigated the relationship between design thinking and computing thinking factors and examined the direction of software education to develop creative problem solving abilities. Two specialist questionnaires and focus group interviews were used to derive two levels of content elements for design thinking based computing thinking. According to the results of the analysis, This research is based on the process of design thinking, focusing on diffuse thinking at the first level, and the whole contents are composed. The process of producing a prototype was used to derive the computational thinking contents necessary for problem solving. This study focuses on convergent thinking at the second level and draws out the contents of computing thought to embody the first level contents of various ideas and stories into computing. It is expected that this study will be used as basic data to develop the content and method of education as SW education for non - major subject in university.

Fostering students' positive affect related to mathematics such as attitudes toward mathematics and dispositions toward learning mathematical concepts is one of the major goals of school mathematics programs. In this study, we collected data from students at the 4-1 grade levels to develop an instrument that measures students' affect regarding mathematics learning. To develop the instrument, we first conducted focus group interviews, which we recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. We sorted the results according to seven components of the non-cognitive domain of mathematics learning, which drew from taxonomical constructs of previous research. We then conducted a pilot study in which we administered the instrument as a pretest and a posttest. We chose the final items based on confirmatory factor analysis and a reliability test of the pre and posttest scores. The final instrument contains 24 items, which are classified according to the seven components: interest, attitudes, value, external motivation, internal motivation, learning conation, and efficacy. We anticipate this instrument will be useful for studies that need to measure students' non-cognitive characteristics in relation to learning mathematics.
Theory and fundamentals of mathematics consist mostly of proposition form. Activities by research of the proposition which leads to determine the true or false, justify the true propositions and refute with counterexample improve logical reasoning skills of students in emphases on mathematics education. Also, utilizing of counterexamples in school mathematics combines mathematical knowledge through the process of finding a counterexample, help the concept study and increase the critical thinking. These effects have been found through previous research. But many studies say that the learners have difficulty in generating counterexamples for false propositions and materials have not been developed a lot for the counterexample utilizing that can be applied in schools. So, this study analyzed the current textbook and examined the use of counterexamples and developed educational materials for counterexamples that can be applied at schools. That materials consisted of making true & false propositions and students was divided into three groups of academic achievement level. And then this study looked at the change of the students' thinking after counterexample classes. As a study result, in all three groups was showed a positive change in the cognitive domain and affective domain. Especially, in top-level group was mainly showed a positive change in the cognitive domain, in upper-middle group was mainly showed in the cognitive and the affective domain, in the sub-group was mainly found a positive change in the affective domain. Also in this study shows that the class that makes true or false propositions in education of utilizing counterexample, made students understand a given proposition, pay attention to easily overlooked condition, carefully observe symbol sign and change thinking of cognitive domain helping concept learning regardless of academic achievement levels of learners. Also, that class gave positive affect to affective domain that increase interest in the proposition and gain confidence about proposition.

The purpose of this study was to explore the levels of ethical consumptions and related variables on ethics of adolescents as consumers. This subjects were 552 middle and high school students. The research results are summarized as follows. 1. The scores to measure ethical consumptions level of the adolescents was ranged from 2.87 to 3.08, which were relatively low. 2. The ethical consumptions(fair-trade product consumption, donation and giving, local consumption and eco-friendly consumption) in demographic variables were found to have significant differences depending on their religion, perceived social class, father's education and mother's education. 3. The result of hierarchical regression analysis indicated that consumer education experience, the eco-friendly values, materialism, saving, experiencing mass media on affecting the fair-trade product consumption. The major variables affecting the ethical consumptions in the donation and giving were materialism, consumer education experience, experiencing mass media and the eco-friendly values. The significant variables affecting the local consumption were the eco-friendly values, consumer education experience, materialism, experiencing mass media and saving. The major variables affecting the eco-friendly consumption were the eco-friendly values materialism.

Various digital literacy and critical competencies are crucial for success in the information and media-rich 21st century game of life. This study explores and describes the digital literacy practices of role-players in WildStar, a science fantasy Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). Active role-players create and participate in group-driven interactive stories while in-character. A hybrid ethnographic method integrating overt participant observation and engagement, collection of community artifacts across multiple sites (such as wikis, discussion boards, and social media), and semi-structured interviews was employed to understand how role-players seek, use, evaluate, and manage information, media, and technology. Role-players used various media and technologies to supplement, simplify, and make role-playing more immersive. The relative digital literacy skill levels of individuals varied, leading role-players to leverage the skills of more proficient or experienced community members. Given the broad appeal of online games and educational benefits of role-playing, implications and applications for digital literacy skills instruction and library programming are also discussed.
The purpose of this study is to develop a role play instruction model to increase higher-order thinking abilities in geographical education. This study reviewed the references which included the contents of higher-order thinking abilities, and discussed the educational significance and application of role play instruction model. The developed role play instruction model was applied to four classes in high school in Korea. After applying the model, this study asked some question about the model to the students which engaged in this model. Higher-order thinking essentially means thinking that takes place in the higher-levels of the hierarchy of cognitive processing. Higher-order thinking abilities contain critical thinking abilities, creative thinking abilities, problem solving and decision making abilities, meta-cognition abilities. The role play instruction model is an effective method which can increase higher- order thinking abilities. The questioning to students which engaged in the class of applying to role play instruction model provides feedback about development instruction models to increase higher-order thinking abilities.

The purpose of this study was to examine the potential of the use of the Classroom Response System (CRS), a kind of new ICT medium, in a quiz problem-solving oriented high school life science class. To find the usefulness of CRS as a teaching and learning strategy, the CRS group (n=34) sent prompt individual answers to the teachers' questions using the CRS terminal (Clicker), and the teacher then asked additional reasons of the individuals and gave personalized feedback. In the control group (n=35), the CRS was not used while the teacher asked overall questions and gave feedback in an undifferentiated way. As a result, the CRS increased students' interest and concentration during class, but there were no significant differences in study achievement between the two groups. However, there were significant differences between the medium-level groups when the two groups were divided into smaller ones based on their pre-scores. We suggest that, for effective use of the CRS for diagnostic and formative assessment, teachers should develop a teaching and learning strategy that can produce appropriate questions of various levels in advance, investigate the exact reasons for students' answers, and give customized feedback by individual as much as possible.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate caregivers' knowledge, concerns, and management of children with febrile convulsions (FC). Methods: A descriptive correlation study was conducted with 133 caregivers whose children had been diagnosed with a FC. A self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection A self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson's correlation were used for data analysis. Results: The mean percent of correct answers related to knowledge was 48.5%. Many caregivers believed that FC causes brain damage and did not know that risk of subsequent epilepsy in FC is rare. Levels of concern about FC were high. Caregivers were highly concerned about further FC attacks in the night and tended to worry that Febrile children were apt to get a fever. Many caregivers used management practices which are not recommended for FC in children. There was a statistically significant negative correlation between caregivers' knowledge and concerns about FC. There was also a positive correlation between caregivers' knowledge and management of FC. Conclusion: Findings suggest that improvements are needed in caregivers' knowledge and management of FC. Caregivers' concerns related to misconception need to be addressed. Development and evaluation of educational interventions on changing caregivers' management of FC are recommended.
This study aims to evaluate the satisfaction of students with a block system and it's effect on preparing students for a culinary career in the future. Summing up the outcomes of this study, male students reported higher levels of satisfaction than female students not only regarding a block system $perse$ (significant level 0.05) but with regards to career preparation as well (level 0.01). According to the choice variations disclosed by this study, a strong correlation exists with each of the p-values 0.000. Additionally, satisfaction with a block system appears to be strongly related to how well it is perceived to prepare students for future jobs with a RSQ = 0.840. Summing up the study's conclusions on gender effects, satisfaction with a block system is higher for males than females due to its being physically harder to take for female than for male students. Also, student grades have no correlation with satisfaction with a block system while they show significant differences in future job will. Freshmen (first year students) displayed the strongest level of satisfaction regarding future career preparation while seniors (fourth year students) the lowest. According to these results, we can posit a theory; gender and study years have an effect on the satisfaction with a block educational program and perceived value of career preparation. Therefore, culinary instructors and planners should consider this study's results to improve student satisfaction and future job preparedness.
