  • For each a.mem.S and f.mem.m(S), denote by $l_{a}$ f(s)=f(as) for all s.mem.S. If A is a norm closed left translation invariant subalgebra of m(S) (i.e. $l_{a}$ f.mem.A whenever f.mem.A and a.mem.S) containing 1, the constant ont function on S and .phi..mem. $A^{*}$, the dual of A, then .phi. is a mean on A if .phi.(f).geq.0 for f.geq.0 and .phi.(1) = 1, .phi. is multiplicative if .phi. (fg)=.phi.(f).phi.(g) for all f, g.mem.A; .phi. is left invariant if .phi.(1sf)=.phi.(f) for all s.mem.S and f.mem.A. It is well known that the set of multiplicative means on m(S) is precisely .betha.S, the Stone-Cech compactification of S[7]. A subalgebra of m(S) is (extremely) left amenable, denoted by (ELA)LA if it is nom closed, left translation invariant containing contants and has a multiplicative left invariant mean (LIM). A semigroup S is (ELA) LA, if m(S) is (ELA)LA. A subset E.contnd.S is left thick (T. Mitchell, [4]) if for any finite subser F.contnd.S, there exists s.mem.S such that $F_{s}$ .contnd.E or equivalently, the family { $s^{-1}$ E : s.mem.S} has finite intersection property.y.

  • In this paper we study general rotational surfaces in the 4-dimensional Euclidean space $\mathbb{E}^4$ and give a characterization of flat general rotational surface with pointwise 1-type Gauss map. Also, we show that a flat general rotational surface with pointwise 1-type Gauss map is a Lie group if and only if it is a Clifford torus.

  • There have been some study characterizing monoids by homological classification using the properties around projectivity, injectivity, or regularity of acts. In particular Kilp and Knauer([4]) have analyzed monoids over which all acts with one of the properties around projectivity or injectivity are regular. However Kilp and Knauer left over problems of characterization of monoids over which all regular right S-acts are (weakly) at, (weakly) injective or faithful. Among these open problems, Liu([3]) proved that all regular right S-acts are (weakly) at if and only if es is a von Neumann regular element of S for all $s{\in}S$ and $e^2=e{\in}T$, and that all regular right S-acts are faithful if and only if all right ideals eS, $e^2=e{\in}T$, are faithful. But it still remains an open question to characterize over which all regular right S-acts are weakly injective or injective. Hence the purpose of this study is to investigate the relations between regular right S-acts and weakly injective right S-acts, and then characterize the monoid over which all regular right S-acts are weakly injective.

  • Let E be an elliptic curve defined over ℚ of conductor N, c the Manin constant of E, and m the product of Tamagawa numbers of E at prime divisors of N. Let K be an imaginary quadratic field where all prime divisors of N split in K, PK the Heegner point in E(K), and III(E/K) the Shafarevich-Tate group of E over K. Let 2uK be the number of roots of unity contained in K. Gross and Zagier conjectured that if PK has infinite order in E(K), then the integer c · m · uK · |III(E/K)| $\frac{1}{2}$ is divisible by |E(ℚ)tor|. In this paper, we prove that this conjecture is true if E(ℚ)tor ≅ ℤ/2ℤ or ℤ/4ℤ except for two explicit families of curves. Further, we show these exceptions can be removed under Stein-Watkins conjecture.

  • In this paper, we will study the constant mean curvature (CMC) surfaces foliated by ellipses in three dimensional Euclidean space $E^3$. We prove that: (1): Surfaces foliated by ellipses are CMC surfaces if and only if it is a part of generalized cylinder. (2): All surfaces foliated by ellipses are not minimal surfaces. (3): CMC surfaces foliated by ellipses are developable surfaces. (4): CMC surfaces foliated by ellipses are translation surfaces generated by a straight line and plane curve.

  • In mammals, cap-dependent translation of mRNAs is initiated by two distinct mechanisms: cap-binding complex (CBC; a heterodimer of CBP80 and 20)-dependent translation (CT) and eIF4E-dependent translation (ET). Both translation initiation mechanisms share common features in driving cap- dependent translation; nevertheless, they can be distinguished from each other based on their molecular features and biological roles. CT is largely associated with mRNA surveillance such as nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD), whereas ET is predominantly involved in the bulk of protein synthesis. However, several recent studies have demonstrated that CT and ET have similar roles in protein synthesis and mRNA surveillance. In a subset of mRNAs, CT preferentially drives the cap-dependent translation, as ET does, and ET is responsible for mRNA surveillance, as CT does. In this review, we summarize and compare the molecular features of CT and ET with a focus on the emerging roles of CT in translation.

  • The main motivation of this paper is to introduce and study the notions of strong Dedekind rings and semi-regular injective modules. Specifically, a ring R is called strong Dedekind if every semi-regular ideal is Q0-invertible, and an R-module E is called a semi-regular injective module provided Ext1R(T, E) = 0 for every 𝓠-torsion module T. In this paper, we first characterize rings over which all semi-regular injective modules are injective, and then study the semi-regular injective envelopes of R-modules. Moreover, we introduce and study the semi-regular global dimensions sr-gl.dim(R) of commutative rings R. Finally, we obtain that a ring R is a DQ-ring if and only if sr-gl.dim(R) = 0, and a ring R is a strong Dedekind ring if and only if sr-gl.dim(R) ≤ 1, if and only if any semi-regular ideal is projective. Besides, we show that the semi-regular dimensions of strong Dedekind rings are at most one.

  • In this paper, we construct a cover ($\mathcal{L}(X)$, $c_X$) of a space X such that for any cloz-cover (Y, f) of X, there is a covering map g : $Y{\longrightarrow}\mathcal{L}(X)$ with $c_X{\circ}g=f$. Using this, we show that every Tychonoff space X has a minimal cloz-cover ($E_{cc}(X)$, $z_X$) and that for a strongly zero-dimensional space X, ${\beta}E_{cc}(X)=E_{cc}({\beta}X)$ if and only if $E_{cc}(X)$ is $z^{\sharp}$-embedded in $E_{cc}({\beta}X)$.

  • In this paper the following is proved: Let L be a subspace lattice on a Hilbert space H and X and Y be operators acting on a Hilbert space H. If XE = EX for each E ${\in}$ L, then there exists an operator A in AlgL such that AX = Y if and only if sup $\left{\frac{\parallel{XEf}\parallel}{\parallel{YEf}\parallel}\;:\;f{\in}H,\;E{\in}L\right}$ = K < $\infty$ and YE=EYE. Let x and y be non-zero vectors in H. Let Px be the orthogonal pro-jection on sp(x). If EPx = PxE for each E $\in$ L, then the following are equivalent. (1) There exists an operator A in AlgL such that Ax = y. (2) < f, Ey > y =< f, Ey > Ey for each E ${\in}$ L and f ${\in}$ H.
