  • This study was to investigate the effects of workers' attitudes to internet health information(AIHI), e-health literacy(eHL) on internet health information seeking behavior(IHISB) and health-related behavioral intention(HBI). 152 workers conducted the structured questionnaires from May to July 2017. Data analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. Factors affecting IHISB were identified to be eHL (${\beta}=.33$, p<.011), and perceived usefulness for internet health information(PU)(${\beta}=.28$, p=.002), and factors affecting HBI were identified to be PU(${\beta}=.33$, p=.001), information utilization(IU)(${\beta}=.24$, p=.003), and eHL(${\beta}=.18$, p=.002). As above results, considering the eHL of workers, it is necessary to build an internet health information system and develop education program that increase IU.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify new variables that can enhance adult oral health behaviors by confirming the degree of adult e-health literacy, oral health knowledge, and oral health behaviors and examining their relevance. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 350 adults from June 22 to August 1, 2021. Data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0. independent t-test, one way ANOVA, the scheffé post-hoc test and the pearson correlation coefficients were reviewed, A hierarchical regression analysis was conducted. Results: Oral health behaviors according to general characteristics showed significant differences in gender, educational background, dental visit within 1 year, subjective oral health status, oral health interest, frequency of oral internet use, and reliability of internet oral health information. Also it was found that e-health literacy affects oral health behavior. Conclusions: In this study, e-health literacy, oral health knowledge, and oral health behavior were correlated and it was confirmed that e-health literacy had an effect on oral health behavior. In the future, it is necessary to develop a tool that can measure e-oral health literacy and to find a way to improve the oral health behavior of adults by using e-oral health literacy.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify relationships among level of e-Health literacy, subjective health status and health-seeking behaviors. Subjects were 102 senior citizens who used the internet at least once in the last month and visited elderly community centers and welfare centers. Collected data were analyzed descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Multiple Regression using SPSS version 25.0. Fifty five percent of subjects responded the average weekly internet usage hours was 'less than 3 hours', The e-health literacy (r=.349, p<.001) and subjective health status (r=.466, p<.001) were positively correlated with health seeking behavior. Subjects' gender (β=.22, p=.012), type of disease (β=.23, p=.013) and subjective health status (β=.38, p<.001) had significant effects on health-seeking behaviors. The results suggest that the development of intervention programs to increase the level of e-Health literacy and subjective health status to improve of their health-seeking behaviors.

  • With the emergence of smart media and devices which are able to continuous data monitor, the usage patterns of access and acquire health information are changed. Health contents should be provided to promote intrinsic motivation considering the way of cognizing and processing data in human information interaction. For this, planning for prevention centered health contents is required to utilize personal information and medical big data for engagement with the contents. Therefore, this paper reviews previous studies of health communication dealing with users' information literacy like e-health literacy. In addition, the paper classifies ways of communication when mediate IT as immediacy, interaction and data capturing. In conclusion, strategies of health contents for promoting users' intrinsic motivation are explored and its implications are discussed.

  • Entering aging society and increasing individual's interests on wellbeing lead to increasing demands of healthcare service and various healthcare related applications are providedon app market or Internet. These healthcare services could enhance user's health status if the users continuously use the service. In order to enhance effectiveness of a healthcare service, the service user should comply with recommendations or directions are provided by the service. However, previous studies of healthcare service are not considered effects of compliance intention on continuous usage. Hence, we tested how user's compliance intention effect on continuous usage intention of healthcare service based on theories of information system and medical information. Moreover, we found that compliance intention of users for healthcare service is an important factor on sustainability of healthcare service. Additionally, we investigated what factors are related with user's compliance intention.

  • This study investigates the IPI (Information Protection Intention) of DHS (Digital Healthcare Service) providers by introducing PMT (Protection Motivation Theory). This study examines the effects of protection motivation, such as threat appraisal and coping appraisal, on IPI, such as ICI(Induction Control Intention) and SDI(Self Defense Intention). The research model, based on the PMT, adopted severity, vulnerability, reaction efficacy and self-efficacy as independent variables. The research model was validated through quantitative research, a survey of 222 DHS providers in South Korea, using structural equation modeling. The results show that (1) a clear awareness of the consequences of security threats increases the understanding of DHS providers on the severity of closure of healthcare information, and thus may decreases abuse of DHS by providers; (2) user confidence and satisfaction on the security system may make them be confident that they can handle the closure of healthcare information by themselves; and (3) although DHS providers are realizing the consequences of closure of healthcare information, they think that they are unlikely to encounter such situations. As a result of this study, venture companies that provide DHS need to provide contents that can continuously increase providers' security level in order to increase providers' information protection intention. It suggests that IPI is important through trust of healthcare service providers.

  • Many studies have been conducted on adoption of healthcare applications. However, few studies have paid their attention to continuous usage intention of healthcare applications even though success of healthcare applications is determined by Continuous usage intention rather than adoption. Therefore, this study tried to identify the factors affecting the continuous usage intention of healthcare applications and examined the relationship between them empirically. In addition, the role of gender and age in the relationship was investigated. The results showed that self-efficacy and innovation had a significant effect on perceived ease of use of healthcare application, while self-efficacy, health information seeking, and enjoyment had a significant effect on perceived usefulness. Perceived ease of use and usefulness showed positive impact on continuous usage intention of healthcare application. Finally, age and gender had a moderator effect the relationship between perceived usefulness and continuous usage intention. This study is expected to make contributions to the existing research by identifying the factors affecting the Continuous usage intention of healthcare applications, but also to give a guideline for managers who want to provide healthcare application services.

  • Enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis (ETBF) has been reported to promote colitis and colon cancer through the secretion of B. fragilis toxin (BFT), a zinc-dependent metalloprotease. In colonic epithelial cells, BFT induces the cleavage of E-cadherin into the 80 kDa ectodomain and the 33 kDa membrane-bound intracellular domain. The resulting membrane-tethered fragment is then cleaved by γ-secretase forming the 28 kDa E-cadherin intracellular fragment. The 28 kDa cytoplasmic fragment is then degraded by an unknown mechanism. In this study, we found that the 28 kDa E-cadherin intracellular fragment was degraded by the proteasome complex. In addition, we found that this sequential E-cadherin cleavage mechanism is found not only in colonic epithelial cells but also in the human breast cancer cell line, BT-474. Finally, we report that staurosporine also induces E-cadherin cleavage in the human breast cancer cell line, MCF7, through γ-secretase. However, further degradation of the 28 kDa E-cadherin intracellular domain is not dependent on the proteasome complex. These results suggest that the BFT-induced E-cadherin cleavage mechanism is conserved in both colonic and breast cancer cells. This observation indicates that ETBF may also play a role in the carcinogenesis of tissues other than the colon.
